"I don’t lose weight unless I play a sport for like a while. Walking doesn’t help, neither does jogging or running! I eat healthier foods like yogurt and etc. My cousin said to eat meat and cheese because it burns fat, so whenever you eat to eat meat and cheese not breads or crackers b/c they turn to starch! And into fat!”
--Megan, 13

"Yes I have and I regret it now. When I was 13, I had a crush on this really cute, funny, athletic, and inspiring guy. But, I kept thinking, what does he feel about me? So, the next day I looked in my floor mirror and saw, I was FAT. I never noticed it before. And so, I went on a crash diet. When I finally lost all my fat, I told my crush I liked him. But unfortunately, he never liked me in the first place. So, there I was and without a guy. But now, I’m normal weight and my ex-crush regrets what he said now (HAHA).”
--Kelly

--Jamie

"I’m a girl and my height is 5’6” and I weigh 129 pounds. I don't think I’m fat, but I sure don't think I’m skinny. Sometimes I feel fatter because most of my friends are veg and they are so scrawny! I’m not veg, but I don't eat as much meat as most people. I also love fruits, but I have problems with chips. But, I’m happy how I am. I try to get exercise. I don't starve myself. I think that you should be happy with who you are. A diet is one thing, starving yourself is another!”
--Leah, 11

"I really want to lose weight, but sometimes when I get hungry I want to eat junk food. But I do eat a lot of healthy foods.”
--Kaitlin, 11

"Hello! When I was younger, I never even knew what weight really was. I used to eat everything I pleased, but I was very active so I remained healthy. And now, suddenly, I have become obsessed with being thin. Although many tell me that if I lost another pound, I might as well as be carried away with the wind if it became strong, I believe that I am fat. I think that it's just a state of mind, but I can't get over the feeling that no matter what number shows up on my scale, I will always be fat and nothing can change that.”
--Hannah

It doesn't really look right because I have all this chubbiness in the stomach. So then I want these really cute pants but they don't fit because my stomach is too FAT!!! ALERT! 911! HELP ME LOSE SOME WEIGHT IN THE STOMACH PART AND I REALLY WANT TO LOOK LIKE HILARY DUFF!”
--Almira , 11

"No!!!! It's all junk food!”
--Someone, 8

"I used to be medium in 2nd grade, but over the summer I stayed over at my aunt’s and uncle’s house, they’re overweight and so is their daughter that’s 10. They never exercise and eat cake EVERY SINGLE DAY. I started to eat cake a lot too, and I ate lots of pork. Now I look very diff. and am very overweight. None of my 2nd gr clothes fit me, my favorite jeans don’t fit at all- it needs like 8 inches for it to zip. The worst part is I’m going to another school. They will make fun of me. My old friend invited me to her pool party, I really wanted to go but my 2 piece bathing suit doesn't fit. I still put it on- it was really tight but I went anyway. She said I wasn’t invited she invited Jessie not porky pig. I told her I was Jessie then she let me in the pool. Everyone was so skinny. I had 2 belly rings when I sat down eating all of their chips. Then I called her a week ago and her mom told me she was at the gym. I felt bad. I did start to work out and now I’m not that overweight. I’m just a bit bigger than chubby. I used to weigh 90 pounds then I weighed 165 now I weigh 120.”
--Jessie, 9

"I have no clue where to post this but...I am a girl, I am 5 feet tall, I weigh 125, and I am 12 years old. People say I am not fat. I think I am fat. I am into sports and all. I don’t think I am that fat but why do I weigh so much?”
--Chelsea, 12

"Yes, I want 2 get skinnier! I have an older sister that’s 12 and real pretty and skinny. I am pretty but overweight, real overweight. My family has beach parties and me and my sis go and we take pictures together. And she’s wearing a 2 piece bathing suit with a real toothpick body- I’m wearing a 2 piece with a big fat jiggley floppy body. It’s embarrassing! I want 2 be like my sis.”
--May, 9

"I think my thighs are way too big. But I play soccer for a premier team and volleyball for my school, and I know it's all muscle! I’m 5'2 and I weigh 105 lbs. But sometimes, I go through the day w/o eating anything but an apple. I have total control over what I eat, but my mom and friends think I’m anorexic. What do I do to lose weight??”
--Candice, 13

"I think I’m overweight because I’m 10 and 80 pounds. Even though I’m strong and tall I still think I’m overweight. Do you think I am?”

"I eat fruit every day, but I think I eat too much candy.”
--Cayla, 8

"Hi, do I have an eating disorder (anorexia or signs of bulimia) if I am not satisfied with my body being skinny when people say I’m heaps skinny, and that I try to avoid eating (& by cutting down a lot)? I never have breakfast (only 2 coffees), I don’t eat lunch at school (I secretly throw it away & buy a coffee), hate eating in front of people anyway and avoid to. I binge on junk food at times (not a lot, though) then go back to hardly eating for a long period of time. I’m obsessed with exercise (walks, runs etc.), and am wanting to try/experiment of having a laxative chocci bar but not as an everyday thing, just once in a while. Do you know what’s wrong with me? I've gone to the point where I've cried about how I look and want to be skinnier when apparently I’m really skinny. Thanx. PS I binge on coffee and end up having about 6 or 8 cups a day, but I’m not willing to give this up. Has this got anything to do with anything?”
--Kleasher

"I am in shape, but my stomach is pretty big. It is very hard too deal with this because my whole family (except for my mother) is very healthy and they can eat whatever they want. I feel like they don’t support me in my decision to eat better. They buy fast food all the time and go out for ice cream. How do I get my family to realize how unhealthy they’re eating and how to support my decision?”
--Katie

"Ok I'll admit I’m a big girl and I really love my junk food and sweets!!! My body is so used to having junk food that I can't stop. The healthy thing just ain't happenin’, u know what I’m sayin’? I’m 190 pounds and I’m only 12. Help me before I die!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Many, many, many. I’m what my friend Alyssa calls ‘a half a rail, ’ meaning I’m skinny. And I don't know y. I tend 2 gorge myself out like a pig when we go out 2 eat. So I thank God for my fast metabolism. Yes indeed.”
--Lauren

"I basically hate my body. I don’t know what to do anymore. I hate looking at myself in the mirror because I’m so ugly and fat. I’m 143 pounds and I’m only 12. Just the thought of that makes me want to cry or die. Please help me?”

"Hi. I am not happy about my body. People call me different mean names like white trash. I wish that I could change my weight. My mom told me that I have to go on a diet because being fat is not good for me and I don't know what to do. I used to be skinny, but now I am fat because I am eating too much food. I know that I should be eating 3 meals a day but I just don't know how to stop my eating habit. I hope you can help me because I feel bad about myself and my mom told not to think about what other people think about you, just think what you think about yourself. What should I do?”

--Lily, 10

"My mom works late, so she's not home to make dinner or anything. So I usually heat up a TV dinner or something. Sometimes, if she has time, she'll make me a sandwich for lunch. A lot of the stuff I eat is healthy, but the constant snacking is not at all good for me. I've lost a bit of weight (12 lbs.!! Yay!) so I must be doing something right.”
--Maya, 13

"I never eat breakfast. It's not anything particular, I guess I just don’t have time!!”

--Hali, 11

"Well, some may think this is unhealthy, but I don't think so. I am a vegetarian. Some people think that vegetarians are weak and can't run fast. But I can. --Brittany

"I can control my eating habits almost every day, and I normally don't eat a lot. I am not proud of the way I eat TOO MUCH on a certain day. --Kelly, 13

"I eat like a pig. I’m only 115 lbs, but I still eat like a pig. I have three donuts for breakfast, popcorn, suckers, pop, candy, and more for lunch, and a whole load of junk food after school. The only healthy meal I have in a day is supper, which my mother makes, consisting of meat, vegetables, and other side servings. She is very healthy, but not me! I look healthy, but I feel unhealthy. I don't know what to do! I don't know ANYTHING about carbs, and all that stuff, and I just can't seam to maintain a healthy eating habit. I nead to bump up a notch, and start eating properly. At one point in my life, I felt so fat, and I checked my scale like twice a day, and stopped eating properly. No breakfast, no lunch, no snack, only a little bit of supper. I was getting sick, and I wanted to throw up all the time, but I stopped that. Now I spend all my time eating. Some day, I’m not just going to digest my food, I’m going to gain weight, until I can't gain anymore, and explode! What should I do?”
--Ash

"I do have some eating habits that I should convince myself to cut. I should leave out the sweets and eat more healthy. --Meranda

"Yes I have a good healthy habit. It's eating yogurt every time I get home, instead of eating something that would put fat in my body. The only problem that I have is when I run out of yogurt, I just eat anything around the house. How can I stop?"
--Heather, 12

"I am not a couch potato but I am still fat. I exercise a lot."
--Anna, 10

"Food used to be a comfort for me. When I stressed about something I would go to food. But now I am trying to do other things when I crave food when I don't need it. I try to eat healthy and exercise."

--Katreena, 12

"I eat 3 meals a day, sometimes with 1 snack. Thanks to my mom, I now eat very healthy. Every day, I eat healthy cereals (ex: Raisin Bran) with sometimes a fruit or fruit yogurt. If I eat a snack, it usually is an apple or something like that. For lunch, it's usually tuna sandwich made with light mayonnaise and 12 grain or whole wheat bread with cheese and a fruit/vegetable. For supper it depends, but is 95% of the time healthy 'cause it's my mom who cooks and she's a nurse. But of course, I eat candies and cookies (I really like sweets), but I eat them in reasonable quantities (usually ^_~ lol), so it's alright. I say that if you have a balanced diet and if you eat right, it's not bad to eat a BIT of less healthy foods once in a while, :P.”
--Anonymous, 13

--NCC, 12

"I am not really a normal person because I cannot have wheat. I cannot have wheat because I am allergic to it. I am not allowed to have bread, donuts, cake, pie, and a lot of other things. I think I have healthy eating habits and some unhealthy eating habits. I am 11 years old and I am only 40 or 50 pounds. If I lose any more weight I will have to get a shot every single month.”
--Megan, 11

"I’m really skinny and everything, but I still eat too many sweets! I've never even gotten a cavity, but every time I see a cookie I want some! --Olivia, 12

"I’m actually pretty skinny, but I like to eat banana bread and like cupcakes and stuff. But I eat healthy stuff a lot, so yeah... If you think that you don't look good, then just think about the things that are good and healthy for you. Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. Don't eat crackers a lot because they aren't healthy for you, as odd as it sounds. And don't drink soda 24/7. It's absolutely OK to drink soda, but get some milk and water in between. Sprite is OK because it has no caffeine. If you're addicted to soda, like Coke and stuff, it's because caffeine is addictive. It's not bad, it's just unhealthy.”
--Devin, 10

"The problem is I try to eat healthy but it is just so hard.”
--Melodie, 10

"I am vegan because: A. Animals on factory farms can't even turn around because their cages are so small, chickens are starved into new egg-laying cycles and have their beaks cut off so that they don't peck each other to death, (no painkillers) and male cows are given food that is deficient in several vitamins (on purpose) so that they can be turned into veal, etc. B. It's healthier because plants naturally don't have as much fat and cholesterol as animal products. Clinical studies have also shown that vegans are less likely to get cancer and many other diseases.”
--Nicolas, 12

"I eat some healthy food but I eat all junk food!" I gotta stop and eat the rainbow and, hey, that's all colors of the food. And well, I really have to run and eat more healthy food and eat less junk food because I wouldn't grow if I did eat junk food but I would grow if I ate healthy food!”
--Carly, 11

"I luv my vegetables but I would never call my self totally healthy or unhealthy. I eat right but I would never say I’m near perfect. But I would never dream about dieting or starving myself because I like who I am and it doesn’t matter what others think. They either grow to deal with me or don’t bother with me.”

--Kara, 12

"Well, the thing is that I have an eating disorder (anorexia). Now I’m getting better and I’m fighting the fear I had with food. I used to weigh 85 when was 11 which was right before I started with the disorder. I dropped all the way to 56 pounds and now I have to gain weight. The thing is that now I’m eating lots of junk food and chocolate bars and I don't know if that is safe.”
--Nathalie, 12

"I love fruit and veggies mostly, but I am not saying I hate junk! I exercise and eat good food most of the time!”
--Nikki, 10

"I do eat healthy, but sometimes I might eat junk food- cake and all that stuff. But don't be thinking about candy or junk food, think about the other stuff you like that doesn't involve food.”

--Matt, 12

"Well I like pears and apples and fruit smoothies, so at least I can get some kudos for that. But I LOVE marshmallows and cookies. My mom is a professional baker so there is always some delicious, calorie-laden thing lying around. That's probably why I’m a size 13 jean in juniors and my hips are round instead of square. But what is so cool is my cousin is also chunky and she is practically my soulmate because we love junk food and refuse to conform.”
--MissYori

--Estee-Pay, 10

--Anonymous

"I never manage to eat my lunch becuz, it is always cold when I get to eat it. Sometimes it's good, but most of the time it is very gross.”

--Felicia, 12

"I usually eat pretty healthy foods but I can’t eat some foods because of my mouth appliance. This causes many unhealthy eating habits because even if I would cut the skins off of fruits, it still gets stuff in my appliance. I’m also embarrassed when my friends ask me how much I weigh and I say 55 pounds and it’s embarrassing ‘cause I’m eleven years old. I have weighed this much since the fourth grade and my weight has never changed. Is there anything that I can do to gain weight?”

"Yes. I think everybody has something that they should be proud of, and mine is my eating habits. My habit is to read food labels. On the side, many food boxes have a nutrition facts table. You look at the serving spot, say on a giant pretzel bag, which will say something like 2 per serving. Then you look down to the bottom of the chart and see how much fat is in this food serving. Now, scientists say that about 40 grams of fat are healthy, per day. So at the end of the day, if you can remember, add up all of the food fat grams that you ate, and if you have around 40, you're good to go for healthy eating habits!"
--Dina, 12

"My good habits are not snacking so much in between meals. Though the bad thing is when it comes to lunch and other meals, I eat a little too much. If any of you kids out there have tips, type them here for me. Thanks!"

“I have a fetish for Chinese food. Practically ANYTHING Chinese, but I do draw the line at mushrooms or shark's fin (blecch!). My dad also loves Chinese food. My mom diets, which somewhat annoys me. Plus I love fattening stuff: burritos, mac 'n' cheese, Tiropeta and Spanakopita. But my two healthy habits are I'm a vegetarian and I LOVE fruit smoothies.”

“I used to and still do have a lot of unhealthy habits, I do gymnastics and when I was promoted to the elite squad, really started getting serious about it. I had practice every day from 4-8 and stopped eating so I could lose weight and look like my idol, Dominique Mochionu. My friends asked me why I wasn't eating at lunchtime at school. I just told them that I pigged out at home, but I never did, after about a month or so I decided that 4-8 was not enough practice so I asked to go in the gym from 3-8 and they let me. I helped coached the level 3 classes, some of the girls started looking up to me, so my coach pulled me aside and told me that I better set a good example, and I realized not eating wasn't a good example and that it was stunting my growth and weight. Now I started eating but I can't eat much or I puke. It was definitely not a good idea! I am 4'7" and weigh 54 lbs., and really hope I grow so I don't get killed on the field when I play boys’ soccer this coming winter!!!”
