Here Are Some of the Winterveldt Sights
Tswaing Crater By Keamogetsoe Ubane
This pretty lake is actually a product of salt and mineral mining. It is called Tswaing Crater because Twaing is Setswana (the language of the Tswana people from around the area of Winterveldt) for "place of salt."

Tswaing Crater By Keamogetsoe Ubane
Before the mining came, there was a small village here where many of Ngaka Maseko High students' grandparents lived. It is still a beautiful place, but no one lives there now.

| Around Winterveldt: Many of the interesting things about Winterveldt come from its location. People settled here after an inter-tribal war. It also once had salt and mineral mining. Right now Winterveldt is a rural community. It is very close to the borders of Botswana and Zimbabwe. Since it is so close to South Africa's big capital city Pretoria, Winderveldt may soon be growing. |
