Night Sky Etching

Materials

• Toothpicks or paper clips
• White cardboard or pasteboard
• Crayons (including black)

Instructions

1. Use all different color crayons (except for black) to fill up every bit of the board with color! Color, color, color! Press down nice and hard so the art will look rich and beautiful.
2. Take your black crayon, and cover up all the colors you just drew! Scribble that black crayon everywhere! Before you know it, your white piece of cardboard will look as black as night and not very much like art.
3. Use a toothpick or paper clip to scratch out a pictures and images.
4. Taa-daaa! As the black crayon is scratched away, enjoy the beautiful colors shown underneath. This technique is known as etching.
