Nina shows you how to make a penguin puppet out of a cardboard tube, construction paper, pipe cleaner, and decorations!

Supplies

 

  • Small, white cardboard tube
  • Pencil
  • Black marker, crayon or paint
  • Black construction paper
  • Safety scissors
  • Tape
  • Hole-puncher
  • Yellow pipe cleaner (or drinking straw)
  • Markers, beads or feathers for decoration

Instructions

  1. Draw the penguin's eyes and body on the cardboard tube.
  2. Color in the rest of the penguin with black marker, crayon or paint.
  3. To create the flippers, cut two oval shapes out of black construction paper and tape them to the sides.
  4. Have a grown-up help you punch a hole just below the penguin’s eyes.
  5. Cut a small piece of yellow pipe cleaner, fold it in half and put it in the hole for a beak.
  6. Decorate the penguin by adding clothes or accessories with markers, beads or feathers.
  7. Put your fingers inside and you have a penguin puppet!
