Instructions

  1. With the help of a grown-up Sprout, use safety scissors to cut one of the paper plates in half.
  2. Take one half, and lay it on top of the other. Tape or glue around the bottom of the plates, leaving an opening on the top, flat side. You will be leaving an opening on the top to place the “treasures".
  3. Print out the treasure trunk. Color and decorate.
  4. With the help of a grown-up Sprout, use safety scissors to cut along the lines to create your treasure trunk.
  5. Glue or tape the bottom of the treasure trunk to the paper plate.
  6. With the help of a grown-up Sprout, use safety scissors to cut the second paper plate in the shape of the top part of the treasure trunk.
  7. With the help of a grown-up Sprout, use a hole punch to punch holes in the dotted circles.
  8. Overlap both holes on the left side, and use a paper fastener or brad to connect the bottom and the top part of the trunk – this will allow the trunk to be “opened".
  9. Weave a six-inch piece of yarn through the holes on the right. Tie the yarn loosely so that the trunk can be opened and closed.
  10. Print out the treasure trunk contents. Color and decorate.
  11. With the help of a grown-up Sprout, use safety scissors to cut along the lines to create your treasures
  12. Fill your treasure trunk with treasures!
