"I'm starting 9th grade this year(remember I'm homeschooled), and I am NOT really looking forward to it. My schedule is gonna be sooo full, I won't even have time to think about the stuff I usually think of. I'd hate to go through a day without thinking of John Linnell. *****sigh***** So, now you know my attitude. I hate getting old. Speaking of, you should hear John Linnell's tune "Older". It's creepy in a hilarious way. I know what you're thinking, you're thinking to yourself "Is this girl gonna talk about They Might Be Giants wherever she goes?", and my fellow IMLers, I believe the answer is yes. Face it, I'm a gigantic fan. Okay, enough of my contiuous chatter, toodles for now!"

"High school has been pretty great so far! I've already made some new friends. And I know a lot of juniors and seniors Ôcuz I am on the varsity poms team. Really the only bad thing about high school so far is I got lost a few times (not anymore tho), and you realize that some friendships casually stay but aren't what they used to be : (. Another bad thing at my school is the chicken lol. I advise you, unless it is chicken on the bone, never get fried food at school! :p yuck!"

"I may be a little young to be starting the 9th grade but I was/am syked by it. We started on friday. There are a lot of people I don't know ther but jouniors and under I know a lot of people. I'm always in class a little before the bell rings Ôcause we have 3 floors. I am on the bottom and I have to go to all three floors all day!"
--Emily, 13
"I already started going to high school and so far it's been awesome. If you have a boyfriend it just gets much better and makes your days at school stress free. I'm also a Freshman so trust me when I say this: It's not bad!"

"I am starting highschool in 2 days and I'm scared! Normally I would have been freaking out this whole week but instead my mom took me on a camping trip. It was fun and it was an awesome way to get my mind off highschool!"

"Don't be afraid of high school Ôcuz it isn't bad. I am in eight grade, but our jr. High is in the high school building so I associate with high schoolers all the time. It isn't bad at all. Don't be afraid, it's actually the most fun years of school!"
--Laura, 13
"I just finished grade 8 and I am so bummed that it's over. My middle school was so much fun. All the teachers made us laugh and we often played games in class. It was a small school so everyone was relatively friendly. I'm terrified of high school because I'm going from 150 students to 1500. It also stinks that were going to be the youngest in the school (again). It's hard for me because one of my best friends just moved away. It would be a lot more fun with her around."
--Court
"I was then I got over it and now I'm in the tenth and have a lot of friends and I'm making friends with the freshman this year so it's cool! Hopefully I graduate in two years and start college!"

"I'm not sure if I can do school so I want to get my ged Ôcause 'm going into 9th when I should be in like 11 Ôcause I went to a privet school and when I left they decied to say I was in 8th but it's not true Ôcause they also said I wa in 10th when I was there so I'm so counfused."

"I am nervouse about starting school because I am very social and I get caught up in the gossip sometimes although I am and advanced student I am worried about the work load and I also have dance four days a week my anxiety wont go away and keep telling my self that everything is going to be ok do they give a lot of homework because last year I was stresssed to the max with homework!"
--Scout
"Don't be so nervous to start high school. It's the same as middle school except bigger w/ more classes, etc..."
--Sierra
"I'm a little nervous, but other than that I'm fine :). Because in middle school, they give you this book about credits and stuff. But all in all, it means you're growing up and you are in a new step in your life."
--Mai
"I am not nervous to start a high school I still have 1 year to o high school I am so happy. I feel that I am like grown up I think it will be funn there when your friends are next to u! 1."

"Wow I started high school a few days ago (august 20) and I was kinda nervous, but now I've pretty much got the hang of it...I still get lost every once in a while. But I don't have locker problems anymore! (the only bad part is that...They ran out of freshman lockers! And guess what! I am a freshie in the senior locker hallway! Ahhh! At least the other freshman are...Down the hall and on the other side lol)."
--Ballerina<3
"Well High School isn't as bad as you think. It's funner then Junioer High, and way funner then elementary school. Even though you have to do harder work, it's still way fun!"
--Serina
"I know I am too young to worry about high school. But I just want to say, GOOD LUCK, FRESHMEN! Best wishes!"

--Takeedra, 13
"Hey, I'm starting the tenth grade soon and trust me high school is not as scary as you would think. I kept my friends from middle school and met some new ones, and you can join lots of different clubs that you will really enjoy! My older brother's both went to my school and they both had really good reputations, it took a while to get out of their shadow but once I did it felt really good. Sure, you get scare of getting lost, I know I felt that way and it did take me a week to get used to the school but by October I knew the school. You need to study hard, because the workload is HUGE. I took all academic classes, which are the hardest, but all you need to do is STUDY! But seriously high school is where your life begins not ends. :)."
--Kamila
"Nicole, I am flabbergasted by what you wrote! Words can scar people for YEARS. It's not so funny when you're the target. Honestly, if you think people should look up to you making fun of people that's wrong. I'm not trying to be judgmental but, it's just my opinion!"
--Ryant
"Hey you guys. I'm a junior in high school this year and you have absolutely nothing to worry about! It's a fun time to meet new people and try a bunch of different things. The great part about my school is that there aren't any cliques. We're all friends and hang out. Sure, there are people we're closer to than others, but everyone is kind and thoughtful. Just remember to stay organized, focused, do your homework on time, study, and enjoy life. It's better to work hard now than be a senior scrambling for credits while the rest of your friends are chilling senior year. Enjoy!"
--Anonymous
"Yeah I'm starting high school this year (I skipped 3rd grade so I'm a year younger than other ppl my grade). It's gonna be great. I'm a little nervous. But I have cousins who are juniors who said they will make sure nobody messes with me. And my best friend Cassidy I can always count on her to be there for me. And she can give me advice Ôcuz she's gonna be a sophomore so she knows what freshman year is like."
--Jonasluver, 13
"I'm starting high school in a few days. I'm a little nervous, but not too much. It's just that I went to the same private school from 3rd-8th grade so it will be weird not having those same people that were in my class every year, at least all of my friends coming from that school (there's 3 of us) we all have one class together."
--Ballerina<3
"When you think that you see a new place that you are going to see new people that you never new in your life and friends that you are going to face your fear that you can not hide your self from any wear you are that my unknown person told me that me that you can don't get in trouble so girls so go to high school and never think boys....."

"Yes, I'm very nervous. I'm moving out of state to a new high school, so I need to start all over making new friends! But the good thing is that I'm going to an arts school, which is something I'm really into. I think that if you find something there that you really like, you'll meet people you'll get along with!"

"Yo peeps! Well, to be honest, I am pretty nervous about starting high school, but not because I am a real social worrier. I am going into this program for excelled students called school of the cascades, and I hope I can manage to get all the extra homework done and still have time for BFs and work. So, high school, HERE I COME! P. S. Don't get yourself into trouble, Ôcause later you will really pay for it! Just pay attention and do your work and try your hardest, and you'll be fine. Guys, try to stay away from they girls, and visa versa. It only leads to bad stuff...Don't go there!"

"Hi, my name is Renee. I live on an island deep in the waters of Michigan, but it is also a popular place for tourists during the summertime. There is a school on the island, but it is a k-12 grade school. So, that school has basically become my second home. I will just be entering the 10th grade, sophomore year, and I'm really excited. I know it's a lot different, and not anything like normal high school, but it still has the same challenges. There might not be as many students attending the school, but it is basically like normal HS, except shrunk 3 sizes. Well, anyways just be confident, and have fun!"
--Renee
"I'm really nervous about high school. It starts tomorrow and I couldn't be more nervous...What should I do?"
--Raegan
"I'm going into tenth grade so I thought that I would just let all of the people that are starting middle school or even high school that it isn't as hard a it looks. If you are starting high school the best advice is to know that you have good friends that you can count on. It isn't hard at all as long as you are committed to school and have established good friendships. And if you haven't established good friend ships then when would be a better time then this school year? so go for it and enjoy it because it's a once in a life time chance."
--Amy
"I pretend I'm the only one."
--Brianna
"I was at first, but then I found really great friends. If you don't let people know they get to you, they'll stop. Everyone picks on me at my high school, not mean, just joking. But I've learned to say, "If you don't like me, don't talk to me." Now, I'm looking forward to going back to my friends, and showing up my classmates with my grades. LOL!"
--Lost in life, 13
"I'm starting high school in August. It is driving me nuts! Everyone is saying it's better than middle school, but I don't know. I can barely keep up with schoolwork as it is. It's times like these when I wish I was four again. SOMEBODY HELP ME!"
--Rachel
"Definitely don't be afraid to try to make new friends. Especially if kids from other schools are going to the same high school. If you're nervous about starting high school, most likely everyone else will be just as nervous. So don't give up. :)."
--Jayden
"I'm officially in high school. It never really bugged me that I was a whole year younger, sometimes even two, than my peers and friends. But now that I'm starting high school, it doesn't really matter in my opinion. If you're nice to everyone, and know how to laugh at yourself, you'll make good friends who will stand up for you and help you when things get rough. High school life isn't gonna be perfect, which is why you need a couple good friends to help you out. As long as you're happy with yourself, it doesn't matter what other people think. The reality is that when people pick on you, make fun of you, or are mean to you, they are probably just jealous. But you still have to tell an adult if you feel threatened or intimidated. Also don't go along with the crowd and don't be afraid to be yourself. If you try to be someone you're, people will eventually find out, and once they do, most likely on one will wanna be your friend. BE YOURSELF, HAVE FUN, LAUGH, STUDY HARD! "

"I'm so not nervous about high school. I'm really confident and I have a lot of friends. Plus I'm popular so I'll be hanging out with them. That's a good thing! I'd hate to be a nerd. Plus I'm not worried about the guys either because a lot of the juniors and seniors talk to me and check me out and stuff. I'm excited because I'm smart, pretty, and popular so high school is going to be a breeze. I don't know why everyone stresses over it. Those people who stress about it are the ones who become the nerds because when they go they look and act scared so people will see them as a huge target. Haha I think it's real funny when I pick on this one girl I hate her a lot and she's scared of me! I think it's hilarious! Anyways just be confident and look approachable. And if your not don't worry because I'm sure you'll make nerdy friends to hang out with and wish you were popular like me. Have fun in high school! "
--Nicole
"I'm not nervous to go to middle school! But I'm worried that I wont make it to class on time because the school is like a maze you get in you get lost! "
--Zoozoo, 12
"Don't worry about it. The BIG kids aren't that BIG. And the LITTLE kids? Eh...Not that little. "
--LoL, 12
"WELL I look at it this way starting high school, you tend to get nervous you have that feeling of "Not fitting in" right well eventually, that goes away but high school can be fun try not to think of it as "Oh bullies" or you getting in trouble for what someone else did think of it as "What will it be like stepping into high school"."
--Ariana
"I'm not to much scared because I'm going to finish high school but I came from Puerto Rico 2 months ago and I don't have friends here and I'm scared to speak English. AAAHHH..."

"Well, my brother is out of high school and I am in middle school so my brother help me start middle I was scared. Wow but when I got to middle school I saw a lot of cute boys in the 8th grade it was this boy named lake he was sooo cute¢_ but I am going to the 7th grade. And I am in computer camp and I saw this boy his name was Braxton he was sooo cute¢_ so my brother is done with high school¢_."

"I am so nervous! Especially because I am white and most kids at the school I will be going to are black. I am afraid I will be teased because of my skin color."
--Jeanine, 10
"Nervous? Me? Ha, never! *Falls over in dead faint* Um, yeah. I've actually been homeschooled all my life till now and I honestly have no idea what to expect. I'm not even sure if I'm up to standard in a few subjects. So yes, you could say I'm nervous."
--Mumbojumbo
"Yes, because I will be younger than EVERYONE and I don't want to date. I don't want to have a boyfriend. Tried it-bad idea, bad past, bad experiences. NO WAY. But I have to deal with it, God will provide, and the highschoolers at my school are awesomely kind, caring, and warm (along with being very Christian, at least in attitude)."
--Andrea, 13
"OF COURSE I'M NERVOUS! :) Well, who wouldn't be? I'm mostly nervous about schoolwork & classes. Also about my friends & if we'll stick together. Also about extra-curricular activities & dating. I might be on the school volleyball team and that's a BIG BIG BIG commitment. And I'm also in the International Baccalaureate Program [advanced] at my school, which is also time-consuming. I believe I have an advantage over some of my friends because I am in summer school, getting ahead in math, and I know where a lot of the classes are located. But, honestly, I just don't really want to worry about it any more than I have to. It's just high school. I got used to middle school, didn't I? YEPP! So I think it'll be a super rad experience ;]."
--Ehhsie
"I start high school August 27th. It's a little weird because I am so used to starting in early September. It is a little bit worse because it is only eleven days after my 14th birthday. My school is a Vocational school so we have a shop instead of a language. It's actually pretty exciting! I'm only a little bit nervous about getting lost because the Campus is larger but there are only about 500 more people than my middle school. All I can say is for those who are nervous, don't be. If you keep your head up and are confident about your success you'll do fine. Oh, and if you want to know where a class is ask a teacher, not an upperclassmen. They could tell you to go to the wrong place. Don't get stunk into any drama because it starts fights. And finally, if your high school has a freshman "Prank week/day" don't freak out just make sure you are aware of what is going on around you! ~GOOD LUCK FRESHMEN! ~."
--Erin, 13
"well I have about two more years before I get there but I'm kinda scared because my high school has a day care center and I'm scared because of the 12th graders because they are the seniors and I'll be a freshman or as I call it fresh meat and because half of the kids can drive but I don't think that's scary I just wanted to put that in there."
--Can't tell, 13

--Mia, 13
"Yes, I'm very nervous, especially since the high school I want to go to is in a completely different state. Plus, you have to audition to get in! I deal with it by planning a lot, and practicing my monologue and song (two of the requirements in the audition) very often. It makes me feel like I'm more prepared."
--Hannah
"Madi- You're welcome. I am sure that if you do take a few course, you will LOVE it!"

"I'm excited about going to high school. After all, it's just like a whole new awesome adventure, right? Plus, making new friends is fun. Sometimes, with other people your age, worrying about high school isn't so bad after all. Problems always seem smaller in a group."

"AHHHHHH: (I like you're name) I play in band too! (and I'm in honors classes, are you my twin? ) That's really dumb that that kid made fun of you on the field trip, but most kids aren't like that! I'm going into high school next year, but I already have some friends in high school, and they're really cool and nice. Blood tests aren't too bad! The first time I got one, I was really scared, but it didn't hurt at all. If you're nervous, have someone stand on the other side that they're not taking the blood from, and look at them instead of the needle..."

"Our school closed, (the only middle school for miles) so I have to start high school-in 7th grade! Most of us are really nervous about being the smallest, or not as smart as the older kids. Got any tips?"

--Hannah, 13
"Madi, 12- Well, if you are not good at talking to her, then maybe you could write her a letter or something telling her how you feel. I know it is not easy trying to tell your parents how you feel, but you have to at least try. Just hang in there and take life as it comes. Show her that you are mature and not a little kid by acting really responsible...(I am sure that you are right now too) I will pray that everything works out for you. Let me know how things go! Your friend, Monica."
--Pop
"I have along way to go so when I'm done with H.S. and college I'm going right to acting school. And I'm not nervous to start HS."
--Radesha, 11
"I have to start high school this fall and I am scared out of my mind. I'm in all the honors classes AND in the band. I'm scared I won't be able to handle the workload. Also, the incoming freshmen have to get a physical where they do a drug test and stuff, and they have to take blood. I am the biggest baby on the planet, so...That won't go over well...At all. Our band is HUGE, so the middle school band and high school band got together for a field trip, so I got to meet a lot of the people. Some of them are totally cool, but some...One of them came up to me and my friend as was like, "What should your nickname be...?" we just kind of sat there, petrified and she was like, "Ya'll play the flute, so that's bad enough...How about Screecher?" I felt like I was going to cry! I hadn't even started high school yet and already I was being discriminated against...For what INSTRUMENT I play! Moral of my story: I'm terrified of high school. I don't want to go. Can't I stay in 8th grade forever?"
--AHHHHH!, 13
"Dear friends you should know that you sold do your homework all the time and not to think of boys when you think of studying work so you can get better on your grade and getting a 100 at the high school so think of it. Be cool."

She says it's because she took all advanced classes. But she's soo excited to get to college. My twin and I are both entering 8th grade so we still have a year. But it's coming fast."

Today is my last day of my high school's life since I'm graduating this weekend on Saturday. I deal with a lot of dramas, a lot of hard works, trying to stay out of being troubles, and list goes on...But I made it through. See she thinks that I need someone to take care of me and thinks that I just wanna be a little girl and not worry about anything, even though that would be fun, I'm not and I don't want to pretend I'm something I'm not, I want to keep moving on in life as it comes. "I am going to be a freshman in High School, and I am so nervous. My friend Amanda is going to the same high school as me but I have a feeling that we will grow apart. My best advice is to be yourself. I will most likely make new friends. If you have a bubbly personality like I do you'll have no problem."
--Tara
"Yeah, I'm super nervous. I only know two people going to the same school as me and I don't like either of them. I hope I'll be able to make some new friends. I hope I don't embarrass myself. I'll feel so small, like I don't fit in! Like I'm not supposed to be there. I wonder all the time what my first day's gonna be like. I wonder what my friends will be like, what the classes will be like, and what I'll do. I want a good new image, I want no one to know my name. "Well I'm just finishing up my freshmen year and I'll tell you that when I first started high school I was really nervous! I had been hearing about all the drama and fights that had been happening and I didn't want to get caught up in that. But when came to the school it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I mean of course there will be fights and drama but that's nothing that no one can't get over. But right now I love high school! It's way better then middle school and you get a lot more freedom! Me and my friends are enjoying our time and high school and trust me you will do the same! Just stay calm and have fun!"

I just really prayed to God that if it was His will, to allow me to go to public school and if it wasn't, then I would deal with it. I knew that if God really wanted me to go, He would work on my dad and clear the way for me. If I were you I would just pray and let God work it out. If you want, I'll pray too. :)."

"I'm in 8th grade this year, and I'll be going to high school in 4 months. Honestly, I'm not that scared, because I think about how it was in 6th grade when I entered middle school. If they plan to tease you, or say mean comments about you, stick up for yourself...Because they then would know that you're not scared to say what's on your mind. Sure you're in a whole new environment, but it's not like the whole school is going to attack you once you enter the building. It'll be a whole new experience, but that's part of growing up. Hope this helped...Xoxo."
--Samantha, 13
"I am a freshman at a Catholic High School. I like the school and the classes and most of the kids. But I really miss middle school. Everything was much simpler and all of my classmates were my friends. I love high school the teachers and lunches are great, but some of my best friends from middle school have changed so much. It makes me so sad. They hardly ever say hi to me in the halls or anything anymore..."
--Dana

"I'm very worried about high school! I mean I think it could be fun but everything is going to go by really fast! In my opinion it's difficult to just even think about it. It's 2 years ahead of me and it sure is getting closer and closer to me! It really freaks me out!"
--Selina, 12
"Don't worry pie, I left some of my friends that were back in middle school when I went to Jr. High, but you make new friends. I will be in 8th grade next year so I'm pretty close to high school. Our Jr. High is in the same building as the high school so I am always eating lunch with the older kids, walking around with the older kids, and TRUST ME...It's not a big deal at all. It's actually a lot of fun."
--Laura, 13

"no, I am not nervous at all about starting high school because I know I'll do well, reason being, ’Äòcause I ACTUALLY STUDY! Not trying to be bossy or nothin, but I know that about only about 23% of the kids I'm my class do their homework (max) and ya know what? all those kids who DON'T do their homework will do very badly once they get to high school, so my advice to people is to study, do and finish your homework, and just work hard, and you'll do just fine. So I THINK this one girl that told me it was like high school musical was making a joke. But she sounded so serious! I kind of laughed and kind of nodded! And I don't want to look stupid! So next time I see her if she says something about that I know I can laugh! It probably sounded pretty stupid!"

"Ok so I'm done with elementary school. But I'm still not ready for high school. It's just so big and you have to keep a schedule and everything. My big sister Mckayla told me that high school is a big change and I have to be careful. My boyfriend Thomas can't always be with me and we might have separate classes. I'm so scared!"
--Amanda B., 13
"I was really nervous the first day of high school. But I got advice from my sister Lauren and this is what she said 'High school is a big place and you have to be careful and always alert. Remember that high school is NOT like elementary school and people can be way more meaner so don't be surprised if you get depressed during the year. Popularity is not always a good choice, so hang with friend YOU like instead of what the crowd thinks. Finally remember to act natural and never make it look like your afraid' Hope this advice helps you! It sure helped me!"
--Danielle, 13
"I talk to my parents about it and they help me out."

--Megan
"I'm not starting high school for a while, because I'm in 6th grade, but my sister is a junior (11th grade) She tells me that high school is way better in middle school, because you have more freedom. The downside is, you do have more homework, but if you manage your time wisely you can get through it."
--Maddy, 12
"And Nicole, don't worry, lots of people are really short in high school, my friend, whose sister is really short, her boyfriend is like a foot taller than her, which has to say something!"
--Maddy, 12
"I don't really think about high school that much."

"I'm starting high school in 7 months, and I'm not really nervous. I actually go to a school that has grades 7-12, so I won't have much adjusting to do. I know there will be more studying to do, but I know I can deal with it. Hey, every college student out there was able to do it, so I just tell myself that I can do it too if so many others could. I'm excited for high school because there are so many more activities and fun stuff for high schoolers at my school."
--Irene, 13
"I love my high school! It is awesome!"
--Pop, 13
"Well I am already in high school and it is nothing like high school musical lol but I would definitely say it is fun but at the same time kind of stressful. I have never had problems with bullies before so that isn't really a concern for me. The hardest part is trying to get good grades. In high school getting good marks is important if u want to go to university and get a good job that pays really well. If you work hard though it's not too tough. It's really fun too because you get more freedom and you get to choose what classes you have. You also get to hang out with your friends more and I also found the teachers were a lot better than elementary or jr. High."
--Scarlett
"I am scared....."
--Anna
"I just recently started high school, and I was really nervous at first, but I have a bunch of friends that graduated with me and we keep in touch. The teachers will help if you ask, too. Just relax and enjoy it! It is so worth it."

--Ryant, 13
"Yes I am so very nervous about starting high school. I'm afraid of the bullies, teachers kids and the drama. My sister Amanda is in high school (10th grade) and she got jumped twice. I want to go a private school like my cousin. High school is very hard and I don't want to get left back."
--Anonymous

But I will have my best friends with me the whole time. So I know I will be able to handle it. BTW I skipped a grade so lucky I get to go into high school early: |."
--MOnica<3, 13
"Everyone would be nervous. The kids get meaner and cruel. Which is really pathetic ’Äòcause they have to make themselves big and feel good about themselves, basically ’Äòcause they have nothing else better to do. I'm a sophomore and all year I've been going through drama. You have to learn to ignore it, the kids are making themselves look dumb. Who said Middle school and High school would get any easier?"
--Anonymous

"I am homeschooled right now. I will probably go to high school. My friend (Who is a sophomore) told me I should go to a private high school. My Other friend (Who is in 6th grade) told me she was going to stay homeschooled through high school. Should I do private public or homeschool? What should I do?!?!?!??! HELP!?!?!??!"
--Madi : -), 12
"High school is definitely not bad. You have a lot of freedom and getting to class before the bell rings is not that bad. The teachers are really cool too. I was really nervous like everyone else was at first too, but once school started it felt like we knew the school top to bottom. And it is definitely different than middle school; people are kissing everywhere ya look, there are all sorts of clubs you can do, etc. So don't worry about starting high school, it'll be a blast!"
--Bence
"Some people think that High School is a big and scary place, but it's not! It can only be scary if you're below five feet tall and if you are, in my school, you would get trampled if you didn't know where you were going."

"I'm joining high school in a few months, in September, and I am so nervous. I was in elementary school for one year in a public school, then moved to India. Now, I'm in eighth grade and moving back to USA for my ninth. I have no idea what to do! I am so nervous...What if I get lost in my new high school? Can someone please give me some words of advice?"
--Shanthi, 13
"Yes, I am so scared, but I have an older brother who goes to hs and it's ok, I mean you won't be called a scrub or get dumped in the trash if you don't call a lot of attention to yourself, like don't act like your all that because you started high school, because that's what my brother said is the main reason why they all bully you."
--Shannon, 12
"Of course! This is a place where grades really matter, that's when students learn to drive (not recklessly, I hope), and most people might get lost."."

--Courtney
"High school is just four years closer to collage and collage means freedom."
--T. R. A
"The high school I will go to is very big so I am afraid I might have to make all new friends. Also I hear there are lots of fights there (some really bad ones I hear about too), and girl fighting is very common."
--Amanda, 12
"Guys, you don't have to worry at all. High school isn't as big a deal as people make it seem. Sure it's a whole new world, but it's not going to be those terrifying stories that you sometimes hear. Be yourself, be confident, and trust me, you'll make friends within the first week or two. Sooner or later you'll fit right in. If you're worrying about peer pressure, just listen to your gut--If whatever you're being forced to do is wrong and you'll know that you'll regret it, then don't do it! The teachers also know how nervous you might be, and they are a great help, so if you've got questions don't be afraid to ask them. High school will turn out to be really fun. You get so many new experiences. I'm in grade 9 myself, and I realized after the first week in high school that I didn't need to spend the last weeks of summer vacation worrying myself silly. All the other freshmen are in the exact same situation, so you're not alone! And whether you're going to high school next year or it's still a few years away, when the time comes, just relax and ENJOY! :)."
--Izzy
"Well, I'm going to middle school, and I bet I know how you feel like right now. Just try to imagine that high school isn't a scary place, and pretend it's like middle school. It'll be alright."

How dare they shove those hideous clothes...Never mind. But my friend had this uniform when she used to go to school, and it had this giant checker bow. And it's awesome if you have emo or scene hair like me and her. <3 we rock. Lol. I'm so full of myself. I'm sorry. Lol <3."

--Lauren
"Yeah, I pray and talk to my parents if I am scared. Aamina, I believe if you pray, God will answer your prayers. Don't worry."
--Nina, 18

--Pupmaniac
"Hello everyone. Reading this gives me memories of my freshman year. High school isn't as bad as it seems. Yes, there is homework and people will say things to you, but it's just like any other school you've been to, but bigger and with much older people. You have more independence and freedom. You're not little anymore..."
--Shakerah

When I first started High School, I was nervous. To help me deal with it, I asked my older brother and parents about their experience. I also talked to my friends and told them about how I was feeling."

The upperclassmen are always up to help you out. They remember being a freshie. High school has way more drama, but it's still always fun. I love it."
--Katie
"Pshyea! I've never been more nervous for high school ever!!! I want to go to Henry High, and there's lots of drama. But don't worry. There is always someone that will listen to you, and they will try to help you in the best way that they can..."
--Lori
"Lol Beatriz. I am still in elementary school, but next year I'll be in middle school. Omg! High school is only 4 years away! Better get studying so I'll be ready. Eek!"
--Taylor, 10
"Ashley, 11- Yes, high school is awesome!"
--Pop, 13
’ÄúYeh I am nervous about high school. I knew there were bullies and losers and weirdoes. It is hard to deal with it. Whenever a guy or a girl messes with me I go straight to a teacher and tell them. It is hard for a freshman. The lunch is always something good or bad...’Äù
--Lauren
"High school isn't bad...Just wait. High school will be over before you know it...And you'll wish you could have it all back again..."
--Daniel
"I just started high school! The homework seemed to pile up in the beginning, but now it isn't so bad. I made tons of new friends and have remained close to my old friends. On Christmas vacation, I'm having a slumber party with all of my female friends, old and new!"
--Dorianna
"I think high school looks very cool. There are many activities to sign up for and you have special things like proms. Also the teachers treat you more equally I bet. TO ANY HIGHSCHOOLERS: IS THIS ALL TRUE??? IF IT IS...COOL!"
--Ashley, 11
"I would say yeah, but the high school I'm going to is really new and really well laid out. I've met some of the teachers and they are really nice; also the kids are well monitored so it's not bullying or socializing. The things I'm worried about are not being able to open my locker, time pressure, and too much homework..."
--Christiana, 11
"I really love high school. Everybody wants to be my friend. I am one of the most popular girls in school. Everybody loves to be around me. Sometimes it's not fun because you don't know who to be around, but other than that, high school is really fun!!!"
--Quantieshia
"My school is good. I like the lunch room because we can eat pizza."
--Beatriz, 10

--Makayla, 8

--Henry
"I started high school this year, and yes, I was nervous the first day and even a week...But now it's not a big deal to go for me. I have friends, I'm making good grades, and my teachers like me. What else could I ask for? God has truly blessed me!"
--Pop, 13
"It's not so bad once you get used to it."
--Tash
"It happened to me. I got lost my first day of high school, but I got used to it and now I'm going out with this guy and nothing is going wrong. I know that I'm living in a fantasy but I know that it's all good."
--Cristina
"I feel like I fit in a little bit. I'm pretty popular, but I think that I'd be happier if I had a girlfriend. The sad part is that 2 of my 5 true blue girl friends (friends that are girls) are already taken (they already have a boyfriend. ). Other than that, I'm doing well grade-wise..."
--Joel
"I just started high school and it is a blast...If you already like school you will love it even more, and even if you don't like it now I guarantee you will like the new friends that you make. But make sure that you listen to the schoolwork that you are doing now. You may think that it is 4 years away but it does come faster than you think. So good luck to those that are going to high school in a few years or maybe even next year. LOL*."
--Crystal
"You know, I'm in high school already. It's actually really fun. Everyone will love it!"
--Inlovewithhighschool
"No, because it's easy and I make more new friends, kinda. But anyways, how are you guys doing?"
--Lindsey, 13
"I hate school. It's boring."
--Chelsea
"I'm totally not up to the stress it can bring you. But boyfriends are a plus!"
--Lola, 13
"I’Äôm starting high school, and I’Äôm worried ’Äò’Äòcause I’Äôm afraid I’Äôll get lost and won’Äôt find my way to class."
--Naoimi
"Calm down kids. I am going to a high school. It is awesome! The best part of our lives. Enjoy it!"
--Emanuella
"Homework."
--Curtis
"High school is good once you get used to the bullies. My boyfriend, Jake, is always with me, so they get scared (bless Jake)! So here is advice: always be with a friend, a strong friend if you know what I mean."
--Jenny
Well Im gonna start high school next year and its kinda scary, but I know a lot of people at the high school and my boyfriend is there, so I think I can survive.
--Brooke, 13
I don't like the idea of going to high school because it means soon I will leave my parents and go to college and be an adult. I DO NOT like the idea of all that AT ALL!!! I like the way things are now and do not want them to change.
--Miley, 12
I am nervous to go to high school, but I think it will be fun. Don't be nervous.
--Eduard, 11
Look, I am in high school. Last year in 9th grade it was bad, but this year it's going good...
--Heather
Well, I just get really fashionable for a start, and act popular, which I am popular, and so Im going on with. Usually Im never nervous because there are also new hot guys there and Im going to be a child leader captain.
--Fashion girl
Im sort of excited for high school. I am so glad that Iorndal has a GS ski team (Giant slalom).
--Maggie16, 11
Why should girls be separated from boys in school classrooms?
--Shawna
High school is going to be great because my sister said that when youre in high school (she is in high school if your wondering) you can eat or drink almost anything during class! When I get there, I am bringing a smoothie everyday.
--Annie, 11
Yes I am so nervous!! I hated starting middle school, I was so nervous!! And I don't know what it will be like, but the one thing I heard is you get to bring food in there and eat in or drink what you brought.
--Danielle, 12
If you have a brother that is in high school, and youre younger, dont you ever think, Why do I have to be the youngest sibling in my family?
--Lorenzo, 12
It's really hard for me to fit in at school. It's like, everything just belongs somewhere and I don't.
--Linda, 12
"I'm not all that scared because I am on the cross-country team at my school. I met a bunch of the high schoolers so I'm not going to be without any friends."
--Kyle, 13
"Well I am homeschooled right now, but in a couple years I will be going to High School. I am not the kind of person who is worried about bullies and mean people; I am the kind who just hates the schoolwork. It's not that I hate learning, it's just in homeschooling I get a choice of what to learn certain subjects from, but in High School they just give you some 5000 page textbook and say, "Learn this. Do not complain or you will get detention. Destroy your imagination. Become a zombie. Etc. Etc...". Seriously, that is what they basically want you to do."
--Colin, 13
"I start high school next year and I'm looking forward to it! : D."
--Sean, 13
"Yes!!!!! And actually, I sorta already have started high school...Our jr. High is in our high school!!! It's scary, but after a while it isn't so bad."
--Laura, 12
"I am sooo nervous! Imagine having no classes with any of your friends?"
--Anonymous
"I agree. Lol. Only in the first day, I suppose. But only 2 of my friends are going to my school, so it's okay for me’Ķ : ]. But if we're in a different classes, it's hard..."
--Bianca
"I was, but I realized that being nervous wasn't worth it. I love high school. Sure, I'm a freshman, but it doesn't matter, so are all of my friends. I have met so many new people and the teachers are awesome. And I love the lunches at my school! Lol. HIGH SCHOOL ROCKS!!!"
--Gavin
"I don't think I'll be going to high school, at least not in the normal sense. I'm going to be a singer and an actress, so I'll probably have a tutor. I'm worried about that part of my life though. Lots of challenges and new things to think about..."
--Katt
"O0o, so yes indeed. This September I am going to high school! Grade 9 Woot Woot! Hehe, well actually over here where I live high school starts in grade 8, so I actually went to high school already! But then this year I moved and so I have to start at a new high school, which starts in grade 9. So I'll be the smallest once again! UH OH! But actually when I had my first year of high school, it was so exciting! But of course I was nervous! It was a whole new experience! But after the first week of high school everything went fine. It was fun, and I made new friends and had many new adventures! So for anyone who is scared of high school: no worries. Everything will be ok!"
--Maria-Paula
"I am scared of going to high school, as I will be the youngest in school."
--Amanda, 11
"I am a lil nervous."
--Jessica, 13
"School is good for kids, but we should have school 3 days a week. Some people are cool and some people are not cool. And I like a boy in my class, but he does not like me. I think he does not like me."
--Sheree, 12
"First week of high school was success! They do give a lot of homework, but nothing I couldn't handle. : )."
--Pop, 13
"Bailee, 13- I skipped a grade too! People think I'm in 5th grade instead of 9th. Oh, well. : ) Good Luck!"
--Pop, 13
"In middle school I felt like a complete joke and all of the kids hated me, but since I moved to high school, things became better and I made more friends. I think that high school is better than middle school, and it's also changed part of my life."
--Caroline
"I'm afraid of not having friends. Like in kindergarten’Ķit's like being the youngest. And bullies and boys!"
--Hannah, 10
"I'm not in high school yet. But I know some people are scared to start because of the deaths or shooting you heard about. But my computer teacher told us most of the shootings and deaths took place in middle school."
--Janessa, 12
"I'm not thinking about it."
--Tessa, 10
"I'm starting high school this year and I am soooooo psyched!! I'm homeschooled for my main subjects, but I will go to the school for the second half of the day and take some extra classes and for sports. I also hope to get a boyfriend in high school! ;) "."
--Sam
"It's kinda scary, but so was middle school, so you get through. The important thing is to make friends and, if possible, find someone older to be friends with. The older students seem scary, but if you get to know one (not necessarily on a best friend basis), it's a lot easier, and they'll help you find classes, etc. Etc."
--Sarah
"I am starting high school this year in the fall, and I must admit I am very nervous. High school is a whole nother level. Older people, harder classes, and worst of all: the drama. My high school is known for drama and fights and I'm worried that I will be caught up in it, especially since I'm going to be a cheerleader and a lot of girls start disliking the squad because they didn't make the team or the boys are giving us more attention. But my mom told me to stay away from trouble and I should be fine. But the more I think about it, I'm a little excited to start high school also. Cuter boys, the cheer squad, parties, and I'll be driving soon! So all I have to do is focus on my schoolwork, have fun, and just enjoy high school!!."
--Shamea
"No, I'm not too nervous. For me it's the same building, but a different part. ~Bekah."
--Rebecca
"I go to high school Monday!"
--Pop, 13
"I feel kind of nervous because I skipped a grade and I'm short."
--Bailee, 13
"Even if you come to school and you get lost, lose your locker combination, and even have fight with your best friend, just remember that you will survive. One of my friends always says that worry is a stupid way to waste your energy, so just think positive. I know that can be tough, but just be yourself. Again, the same advice that everyone gives, but it does work. I haven't started high school yet, but my junior high is connected and I often had to walk into to get to some of my classes. If you worry about being lost in the halls, ask for a map of the school. If your school has an open house day before school starts, walk your schedule a few times. Make sure that on the first day you wear something that you love. Just breathe and you'll be fine."
--Rebecca
"Pretty scared to death about it."
--Vidula, 8
"I am starting high school tomorrow and I'm SO nervous! I am attending the biggest Catholic high school in the South, with a lot of people there. Does anyone have advice?"
--Paige
"My only fear is whether or not I will be able to find my way around my new school."
--Meg
"Why is it that, in grade school, boys try to avoid girls, but in high school boys try to get closer to girls?"
--Kris, 12
"I am a little nervous, but I have friends who are either one or two years older than me. Like, some of their parents said that they would be there for me when I needed them, which would be okay. And I hope my freshman orientation day works out well for me at age 14!!!!!"
--Alison
"Duh, of course."
--Nani, 10
"I love high school. My favorite thing is getting' a boyfriend!!"
--Niki B.
"I just completed my freshman year and have to admit the first day was scary. I had many worries, such as: would my friends and I be in the same classes? would the older kids bully me? would the teachers be mean?. But things ended up ok."
--Jordan
"Are you scared of handling high school? What's your tip to cure it? : )."
--Mona, 11
"I was really nervous about starting high school, too. Once I finally got there, I realized that it wasn't bad at all. I love high school, and it is the best thing ever! The classes were a little hard at first, but after I got the hang of it, everything went smoothly! HIGH SCHOOL ROCKS!!"
--T. J.
"I am in high school and it is awesome. It is not scary at all. Just remember to stick with your buddies. : )."
--Claire
"Well I already am in High School so it's no biggie. But the first time I started I was nervous."
--Lynette
"I am starting high school this September, and I am pretty scared. I have ginger hair and loads of freckles, and I am scared I'll bullied. Lots of people I've met from the school aren't very nice, and are obsessed with looks. What shall I do?"
--Anna, 11
"No, I am not nervous. I hardly ever get nervous, unless I am around a cute boy. Gotta go. Holla."
--Tokyo's finest
Just find your friends if you are going to the same school. It might be scary at first, then you won't be scared. You will probably make some new friends on the first day of school. Just be open.
--Jenny
Sometimes its good to have a sibling or cousin in high school with you. When I go to high school my cousin will be a junior when Im a freshman.
--Hannah, 13
Im really nervous about starting high school. Im mostly just afraid I'll have a lot of homework. But I also don't like going to school because most of my peers don't like me. I have friends, but a lot of other people don't like me even though I try to be nice to everyone. It's just that unfortunately, all a lot of people seem to care about these days is how popular you are.
--Hannah
Not really......Im mostly just worried about some people giving me a hard time, but it's really nothing.
--Michael
Im not in high school.
--Nick, 13
The main thing you have to remember when entering ANY new situation is that it is part of life. At one time or another, everyone approaches high school. Being nervous is ok, but try to look at the next 4 years as an adventure in growing up and learning more about yourself. Making new friends and partying is great, but what TRULY matters is your grades; getting into the college of your choice opens the door to your future. Walk into the place with shoulders straight and an optimistic mindset- before you know it you'll be receiving your diploma and thinking about how you felt 4 years earlier!!!
--J. B.
Yes, I am nervous about going to high school. Here are some tips: 1. If u know someone who has been to high school or is in it, ask them how their first day went. 2 stay with your friends. When your are with a friend, u can face it together. Also, dont freak out. The first day might seem scary, which it is, but after that it is not so much...
--Jess, 12
I am so nervous. I am going to be one of the oldest in my grade and at our school the middle and high school are together, and I am so nervous that one of the 6th grades will ask me where one of the classes is and I won't know where it is. I am hoping to get a map of the school when it starts so I will have one.
--Stephanie, 13
I seem a little nervous about high school. But of course I don't know if I will be as in nervous. Besides, I have a long way until high school. But all of you kids (or should I say young adults) : I wish you great luck through high school, college and the rest of your life. Even though I may be little, I know how you feel (It feels like starting a new grade right??? ).
--Soon 2 Be 4th grader, 9
Well, I am not starting High school" yet, but I am going to Jr. High, and our Jr. High is in our high school building. I am really nervous because we are going to be with such older kids and that we are going to be in a different building. I deal with it by being confident and telling myself I can do it...It really works!
--Laura, 12
Hi. Im going to seventh grade. I was just wondering before I get to eight grade getting ready to graduate from middle school. What should I look forward to in high school? why? because I dont want to be the who gets made fun of? And really scared if I don't fit in? And IF I won't get a guy to like me that I really, really like? then these bullies start saying things?
--Aaliyah, 11
I am so scared to go to high school. I don't even want to go, although my brother told me high is the best years in your life.
--Toren, 13
Im starting high school in the fall, and Im really nervous that Im not going to do well or live up to my older sister's legacy.
---Miranda
High school. I made it through the first year, and it's really not what everybody works it up to be. It's nothing like the movies or stories about mean people and snobs. Sure, the first day was bad, trying to find your way through a crowd of a million people, but it gets better as time goes on. You'll live.
--Emily
Im pretty nervous about starting high school. In about a month I'll be a Freshman. I deal with it by thinking about the new people, responsibilities, and the opportunity to challenge myself. My brother graduated from High School in '04, so he's been there. He tells me to relax, and just focus. Everything will work out.
--Shannon
I am definitely scared! Especially if me and my BFF'S don't get into the same one. Then I'll be all alone!! AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!
--Debra, 11
Im going into my last year in middle school, but you can bet Im nervous. I know there's no reason I've always been able to receive good grades each year of my life xD I think there's no reason to be nervous, though, in the end. From what I've seen, high school is a fun time of your life that you should enjoy, look forward to, and put your best effort in. : D.
--Vanessa, 13
I am so scared! When I was checking it out, I threw up! SO GROSS!
--Magoo02, 11
Hello. When I first started high school I thought people where going to laugh at me, that I wouldnt make any friends and all that stuff. But I was wrong. High school is where your life begins. All you need to do is just have fun and be yourself, and you will make some new friends. I was a freshman last year. I can say that was my most favorite year. Now Im going to be a sophomore. Now Im really scared. I dont know if its going to be the same thing as being a freshman; I just hope so. Okay, thats all Ive got to say. Freshman year is really fun. Even high school is really fun. But keep doing your work.
--Jessica
I am really nervous about entering high school because its so different from elementary, and the teachers expect a lot more from you. I deal with it by asking my older sister who has already attended high school for advice.
--Natalie, 13
I am not scared of high school. But that might change, cause I am only in fifth grade. I have a while to go until I start to flunk. Carly, age 10.
--Carly, 10
I am very nervous about starting high school because Im going to be freshman, and the big kids like to pick on new comers. High school is going to be so hard, and I dont know if Im going to like my teachers. My best friend is scared out of her mind because now she will really have to focus. Also, this is a strange feeling because things we did in the middle school will reflect in the high school. Hey, life goes on, because if it didnt I would have stayed in the eighth grade forever. You have to deal with it and think of positive things.
--Allyson, 13
Aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhh!! Im so scared!! Heeeelllllllllllllllllp me!!
--Lindsey, 13
I was nervous about starting high school, but when I went to my high school to get my class schedule worked out my counselor told me about the elective options. He told me a lot about ROTC, and I decided to take it. It was great, because ROTC is kind of like a family for me. You should ask your school counselor about elective like ROTC, Chorus, cooking programs, future farmers of America, or future nurses or doctors programs. A lot of the time these classes can be taken each year of high school. I love my ROTC unit, because they are like a family to me, and also it's a great way to learn leadership qualities!
--Kelly
Although I didn't graduate elementary school yet, Im still worried about high school. Im scared about the lots of homework, the fights, and different classes to go to.
--Celine, 10
High school isn't anything to worry about. Same as middle school, except no uniforms, you get to carry your backpack around, and most teachers let you listen to music. It's not that big of a deal, unlike going from elementary to middle school. High school is just bigger with older people.
--Jerrika
Im not nervous about going to high school because I know that if you are friendly and have a sweet personality youll make friends and do great in no time!!!!! ;0.
--Tiffany, 12
Im so nervous about going up to The big school. There are much higher expectations. I have older siblings, and they're always complaining about all of the homework they have.
--Allie, 12
No, I am not nervous. I am actually looking forward to it. The guys in my grade are real jerks, so I want to know some older people (specifically guys ), but a lot of positive people too. I actually want to get in one of the top five colleges, so I am working hard now. Ta ta!!!!!
--Kaara
Hi! I just finished my Freshman year of high school and it is actually kind of fun! I do admit that at first it is scary, but after a while you start to get the hang of things. It is strange being at the bottom again as a Freshman and everyone does look older. When I entered high school it was crazy because there were all these big people in the higher grades who had just finished puberty and some of the Seniors were so muscular! Some people were even driving and that was strange as well. Also, the friend thing may get to be a slight issue at first because some of your friends might get into the whole high school thing and they may try to be more like high schoolers and less like young middle schoolers. But...The truth is...Everyone is going through this weird stuff! Overall, high school is great. You will make new friends and there are more classes to choose from. I like high school and am so excited about Sophomore year! My advice is to just be your own person and people will love you for that! Also, don't fall behind in your classes. Keep those grades up! Have fun in high school!!!!!!!
--Edna
Hey, I started high school last year and it is pretty much just like Middle School. You just...Have classes and talk to people. Except...High school is way better! There are clubs to join and sports and there's band! Also, at lunch there are more places to hang out. There are more classes to choose from and more people to meet. Some days are fun and there is the occasional boring day! I do admit that on boring days I did pass notes! But...Don't do too much of that because you can get into trouble! I think Freshman year is pretty okay. Just keep your grades up and don't try dating a Senior or some other crazy thing. Just be yourself and pay attention to being the best you can be!
--Tanya
Ha, I don't have to worry. Im homeschooled!
--Perfect_nobody, 11
Im a little nervous about starting High School, but only because I think the work will be hard. I don't have to worry about bullies and stuff because I am Home Schooled.
--Navygirl, 13
Nope, I was for a while, but I know that my real friends are gonna be there for me and I'll be there for them. I know already that there are some mean people who ignore you and make you fell bad, but I found a quote by Denver Bronco quarterback Jay Cutler that said, Get people around you that always bring you back to who you really are..
--Dana
I am worried about high school next year.
--Nicole
I am going to a new school. My parents are moving this year so I am scared. I will miss my friends.
--Monica
High school. You get nervous on your first day there most of the time. The classrooms, the lockers, the teachers, who to make friends with. The usual first day of school worries. Here are four tips to calm your nerves. 1: On the day before the first day of school, go on the internet and find a map of the high school. That way, on the first day, you can search you map and find where the classroom is. 2: If your locker is next to a bully's locker, ask your teacher if you can change lockers. If they say no, then when the bully starts bullying you, you tell the teacher about the bully. 3. Teachers. They help us learn but some teachers are meaner, crazier, nicer, or smarter than others. If you have a teacher that's mean, tell your parents about him/her. That way, your parents can talk to your teacher. 4. Making friends can sometimes be very hard. If you're shy, then you might a hard time. But relax, everyone is different. The shy people can make friends with other shy people and the cool people can make friends with the cool people. I hope these tips will help kids who are going to high school!
--Hannah, 9
Im not nervous about it b/c I have a rep to protect and if I go in looking bootleg then that'll be no way to start the most important time of my life.
--Deja d4l
Im so nervous about high school! Almost no one in my class is going to the same high school as me! Im going to be so alone! But at least the people who are going to my high school are nice to me and we might be able to hang out together.
--Tara
Hi, Aamina! Yeah, so Im going to high school in the fall, like thousands of others. Im not a bit nervous. Everyone in our neighborhood knows each other, so no big deal! Plus, my sister Daniela is gonna be a senior! No one in the school teases you if your sib's a senior!!! My twin Caitlin and I are gonna be treated like royalty! Miss Dor-EE is gonna be Queen Dor-EE!!!
--Dorianna, 13
Aamina, don't worry, everyone else is just as nervous as you are, even if they don't show it. When you walk into the high school on that first day, be confident and have a smile on your face. I know that many incoming freshmen worry about being picked on by upperclassmen, but in reality, almost all the older students are there willing and ready to help you in any way they can! Good luck, you'll do great!
--Elise
I just finished middle school and Im going in to high school. I just found out that the thing about growing marijuana in high school was fake, but how did a rumor like that even make sense?
--Lunder
I am starting high school in a few months and Im really nervous. I don't want to repeat the 'shy' thing I practiced all my years in school, because that's not me but when I am nervous I tend to act really shy. Another thing is all the rumors. One was that older kids throw pennies at 'Freshies' even my teacher said it was true!
--Celine
I wasnt nervous in the end, but yes, after you get the hang of it its really okay but nerve-wracking.
--Tajona
Im soooooooooo scared, I only need one more year! I love middle school. Boooo Hoooo...
--Lilly, 12
Im starting high school in the Fall and Im EXCITEDD!!! HERE I COME!!
--Jess
I heard a rumor about high school. Is it true that high schools are actually places that grow marijuana and the whole nation keeps it secret? That's what my friend Juan said.
--Lunder
I am Christian Home-schooled. I will go to College in the future...
--Emily
Jasmine you have noting worried about. High school is a blast, but school comes first...then boys and great parties. Dont go to parties if you got to study or have homework. You don't want to fail in classes because you may be stuck there forever. You want a good education.
--Naniya
All of you that are worried about starting high school, don't be. My freshman year has come to a quick end and I am surviving it. You will get into the hang of things within at least a week. It only took me one day, but don't be intimidated by the upperclassmen. They rarely ever interact with freshmen and most are willing to give you directions to classes. Just look for friendly faces and don't stress!
--Amanda
High School is down the road aways. So, I like to concentrate on the moment, and not in the future or in the past. So for now, I won't worry about the up coming days. : ).
--BusyGirl123
I have to switch schools and Im really nervous...I know NOBODY at that school...What do I do??????
--Kelly
No.
--Jolo97868, 8
I have a problem. I just found were moving out of state and to diffent town. And well be at different schools. Ill be at a diffent high school, Nicole will be at a different midde school for 6th grade only, and Ashley will change her elementary school.
--Annie, 13
Yeah! Lots of people are! Everybody stand up for yourselves! By the way, girls rock!!
--Eva

--Donotno!
Actually Im pretty happy about starting high school I could drive you to my high school hay school and school are right above each other.
--Sweetie pie
I have a bit until I go to high school; but I think that it will be a big step in my life; just like jr. High was / is. : ].
--MONiCA. : ], 12
Im starting high school in the fall and Im mostly excited. Thinking about all the fun I can have in high school is what got me dying to get up there. Cute boys, parties, and I'll be driving soon! I cant wait! But the things that have me nervous are that I'll be taking advanced classes and they are going to really hard, also Im worried about all of the drama that I know I will get myself into even if I dont mean to. But I'll try my best and ride it out!! HIGH SCHOOL HERE I COME!!!
--Jasmine
This goes with Middle School". The difference is that the teachers do not cut you any slack AT ALL. In Elementary school, if you forgot a book, Mrs. Fuller is all, " That's okay if you forgot you book. In Middle school, they are all, YOU FORGOT YOUR BOOK! DETEINTION!!
--Yourder, 13
Well Im not that nervous. I mean I have some friends there and its gonna b fun! I actually am exited to go to high school. It seems like everything starts happening in high school so I cant wait : P.
--Meme, 13
It will be fine.
--Christine, 12
Yes, Im nervous about starting high school but Im going to a school that has the IB program. Its for advanced students. Im lucky enough to go with my best friend. If I get nervous then I just think that if I dont like it there then I can to go my local high school instead where more of my friends are going. I hope to stay at my IB school because my almost bf is coming the year after I do. : ) Lol.
--Anonymous
Im worried about growing up. Just yesterday it seems I was in 1st grade, and now Im going on to high school. Everything seems like it's going by sooo fast!
--Emily
Im as you can see 13 I skipped a grade and will be in high school this fall. Ive been homeschooled since first grade and will be starting my freshmen year in pubic school. Im excited, but nervous. I know it will be very different. I intend to be a straight A student. I know I will probably be considered a geek because of that. Im a Christian so I will rely on God. He will guide me.
--Pop, 13
Yes because were going to move after school gets over in May. Were moving in June. Were going to a different state and town. Also Theresa will be in grade 7 and a different middle school, and my youngest sister Karen is in grade 3 and a different elementary school. Its great that were starting at new schools.
--Nadine, 13
Yes. I am a little nervous about starting high school. But I have a lot of friends who go to the high school. So they tell me about high school. And what can also help is if you could go into your high school and look around or maybe make friends who are in high school. Those things help me.
--Jessica, 12
Well, I started middle school recently. And if by far was the worst year of my life. Everyone is trying to find their place, and I didn't have any friends, and Im trying to find where I fit in. Automatically, everyone starts just staying in their own cliques and just bullying anyone else. Im stuck in the middle, so you can guess what happened. Im my own clique.
--Ariel, 12
Well like oh my gosh Im like so scared to like start high school, like totally BORRRRRINGGGGGGGGG! Ok like anyway like oh my gosh.
--Anonymous
Im homeschooled and I hate it. But my Mom said that I would be going to school when I turn 14 so Im scared of what the teens will think of me there.
--Malikah, 11
I am going into high school and you need to get involved in different activities. Be involved with whatever.
--Laurel, 13
Yes, I am very nervous because it is much harder than junior high. I also dont want to get too many detentions.
--Sam, 12
I start high school in the fall and Im a bit nervous. Mostly, though, Im psyched! I love the school I will probably be going to! Even though only four people I know are going, I think it is going to be awesome. Besides, why fret about something that I can't change? High school IS going to start someday, and I might as well celebrate it!
--Mara
Yes we like our teacher.
--Sabrina
Am very scare of high school because kids sometimes makes you nervous a little.
--Shay
The thing I do is think well all of your friends will be there with you so you get to share another year with them and you might have the same classes with them.
--Kelly
I was in the same situation when I was going into high school. I worried day and night...The best thing to do for it is HAVE FUN! Forget about high school, and have fun. But when it starts, just make sure you get good grades! : 0).
--Grace
I don't know because Im only in third grade, and homeschooled!!!!!!
--Alyssa, 9
Meet friends.
--Ashley, 12
I think I would do good in high school might get in trouble sometimes but it will be okay are you nervous about going to high school.
--Anonymous
Yes, I am very nervous about high school. Even though I am home schooled, high school will still be tough. After all homeschoolers have cliques and boyfriend/girlfriend breakups too.
--Angela, 13
Not really, cuz Im only in fifth grade.
--Ann Onymous, 11
Well, it was tough for me last year when I started the dreaded high school. I was totally scared, and my one-year-younger sister is like, totally worried that she will like not know any of it. But when you get higher up in grades, I told her, that your teachers prepare you for the worst that is yet to come. She is also worried about getting used to the school. Haylie, my sister, is like totally bad at getting used to her surroundings! It took her about a month to get used to the school and she like, was getting in trouble soo much. For me, I was worried that I wouldnt find a place to sit at the cafe, and the up side is it's a private high, so it's like totally cool!! So, anyway, all you 8th graders, dont you worry! High school is more simple than you thought. Trust me I have experience!
--Becca
Yes. I am so freaked and Im only in the 6th grade! I have like 2 more semesters to go!!!
--Aurora G., 12
Well, not really yet. I am only in 7th grade. But I am sure by then after going to school forever...I think it will pretty much be the same, same friends, same hometown, just Different teachers and different building. Oh and new stuff to learn. : -/.
--Mariah, 12
I ask my brother to tell me what high school is like.
--Alex, 11
I am kinda of scared of going to high school but I will survive it. Or wont I? Bye.
--Jason, 13
I am starting high school in the fall of this year, and I am very nervous, but I am also very excited. The new environment and new people makes me nervous, but the independence and all the fun you can have while youre in high school makes me excited. So I told myself to just be myself and have fun!
--Ebony
I remember starting high school and I was really nervous that the other students would not like me, but after a while I got used 2it.
--Darnae
Im friends with everyone from grade eight now. But Im really shy, and once Im in High School I think I'll start to stray away from the well known" people. I don't want to become a loner. = ( Im reallyyy nervous.
--Raven
I am sooooo worried of starting high skool because I am failing at math.
--Josefina, 9
I am so nervous about high school. I still need one more year in middle school and hello h-school. The way I deal with it is just forget about it for now or think about the cool stuff in h-school. Thats what I do.
--Lilly, 12
Everyone is nervous bout starting high school...I know I was...But its really not that bad and its hardly any different from middle school. Im almost done with my 1st year of high school and it wasnt that bad. Only thing to watch out for is the new, improved, older kid DRAMA!
--Amanda
Im really worried about going to high school because everybody will expect me to do so well and Im scared I won't. I don't want to let anyone down!!! Samantha x.
--Samantha x, 11
I hate high skool.
--Itali
I am just a freshman, and where I live the Fish" are not yet part of the high school. So yes I am very nervous about starting high school this coming august! I mean with having a boyfriend and not to many friends, its kinda hard. I mean I know that there are always people out there who care. But I really don't know. So I really don't know why but I am super scared about everything in the up coming year!
--Ashley
Here's an idea! Bring something from home like a penny or something and put it in ur pocket then when u feel worried just reach in and hold it and u will feel better!!!
--Americangirl
Not really cuz for me its the same school, but a different part of the building. My sister is going in to 7th grade, and she has to go to the building that I do now, and she's nervous about it, but I keep telling her its not hard, but she won't listen.
--Rebecca
Im going into high school next year! Im kind of nervous about it, but Im going to go to summer school so I can meet some of the teachers beforehand. I think that helps a lot.
--Lauryn
I am totally nervous! I heard that there were lots of bullies there, but that could just be a rumor.
--Claire, 11
No just go with the flow once you get the hang of it its pretty fun just do your homework and dont give in to peer pressure.
--Anonymous
Im already in high school, Im in year eight in Australia. Its really fun, I wasnt worried at all at first. Even though things got a bit emotional because friendships changed and stuff. I love it now though, its the best time ever its just that little bit harder than last year but I suppose you get that dont you its an opportunity, for making even more new friends ♥.
--Hbs, 12
Yes, but it's a long way off! I usually go to sleep at night thinking about being a grown-up!
--Kellie, 9
IM to old to. Because Im in middle school.
--Brittney
I just got to my new high school in Pennsylvania because I just moved from Maryland. I am REALLY FREAKED OUT ABOUT IT because on my first day, this kid named John Mcglynn was shot in front of my own eyes (during school). I really miss him. Does anyone have any advice to help me get over it?
--Peter
No way!!! Im still in elementary so I don't have to worry!
--Megan, 10
Im going into grade 10 in September, and believe me high school is nothing like what you see on T. V. It was very easy for me to start, especially since you arent alone. You go to the new school with all your old friends and its a good way to meet new people as well, especially if people from two or three different middle schools go to the same high school. Dont think of it as being harder or anything like that, think of it as a new experience where you are able to be more free, choose your own subjects and try brand new things...
--Bri
Devin: I know! Seriously!
--Macy, 10
Im really nervous actually. Im going to start in September. Im the youngest in my grade, plus Im worried about how hard classes will be. My teachers told me that I will be in a lot of honors and AP classes, which makes me more nervous then ever!
--Nora, 13
Of course I was nervous about going in to sixth grade. But after the first week it is like youve been doing it forever. Its just like breathing...
--Sabrina, 13
Not really........I was when I started Middle school, but I did fine. So Im not nervous about High School.
--Michael
I wasn't too nervous, but being in high school now, I realize that it's not as bad as it seems. For those of you terrified and nervous, just chill out. Being too scared will make you more anxious. If there are bullies or snobby popular girls, try your best to ignore them and not get involved wit h them. If youre afraid of getting lost, make a map of the school, and it's best to try to memorize your schedule. If you want to make new friends, just remember to always be yourself, and try joining some after school activities as well. Hope I could help!
--Maria
Sometimes because I hear there is a lot of fights and stuff like that, but then I am not scared because two of my other sisters already went to high school and I ask them questions and they say its not that scary.
--Nadine, 11
Yeah. It's only 2-3 years away, and Im really worried.
--Pink Girl, 13
"A little but I am mainly excited. My older cousins go there so they will be there with me. I have a lot of friends so they will also be there. I will never be alone there so I am not that scared.
--Toni, 13
Yes because the school I might go to is a bad school!!!!!!!!!
--Rosa, 11
I will not be starting high school that soon but dont worry. Have fun right now! Dont worry about your future that much...
--Alicia, 9
YYYYYEEEESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
--Lindsey, 12
I haven't even started the seventh grade - Im finishing the sixth grade. But yes, I am nervous.
--Karen, 12
"I'm in high school but this coming year my sister is going into the 9th grade and she is freaking out about it. I just keep telling her that she will do fine. She is mostly worried about the schoolwork that's involved, but if she tries hard she will make it. When I started high school two years ago I was scared to death because I just wanted to stay in the 8th grade but when I got there I was fine because I knew most of the kids from middle school and that made me feel so much better. What scared me the most was that it was huge! I think it was about a mile long or it looked like it, so I was scared but I was ok when I got there because I got to my classes on time and all my teachers were really nice to me. The older kids are pretty nice to you."
--Rebecca
"Not really, seeing how I just started middle school. But when I make the transition into high school I don't think it'll be too much of a problem, except for the work. But the benefit is that you have more opportunities to learn the things you want to, so it kinda makes it fair in a way. I'm sure it'll be a lot harder than middle school, so I'm preparing myself by trying to develop a good work ethic before it's too late. As for older kids, making friends, etc., I don't think it'll be so bad. If I don't make any friends I'll just roll with it. Eventually I'll probably find someone with the same interests. If not, then I'll just worry about my studies. I guess I'm kind of a nerd."
--Mikenna, 12
"All the stress of trying to make good grades would make me nervous. Also those grades count for college one day. I'm going in the 8th grade."
--Sarah, 13
"I am going to start my junior year of high school in September and I can't wait!"
--Elizabeth
"In four years I am going to high school and I'm pretty nervous. I mean can you say HOMEWORK, HOMEWORK, HOMEWORK!"
--Devin, 10
"I'm not scared or anything. I think it's gonna be harder than middle school. More books, classes, and more buildings. I don't have to worry about making friends cause I have my friends from my school and other friends from other schools so I'm all right. Peace out to everyone."
--Jasmine
"Hey everybody! I'm going into 10th grade and trust me, I was once there too. I can now help the freshmen into getting to know the school. I think the biggest change for me was the finals. But the teachers prepare you, so don't go crazy about it. I got info from my brother's friends that helped soooo much. Freshmen year is like the beginning of the school year. You get a break to ease in. It's pretty easy, but can be somewhat of a shock if you don't prepare. Just ask a lot of questions to people you trust like a parent or an older teenager. There is plenty of help if you ever need it. "
--Emily
"I am SCARED to DEATH of high school. What do I wear and where do I sit in the cafeteria? Do certain groups sit at the same cafeteria tables every day and how do I know if I'm sitting at their table? What if I get lost?!?
--Chelsea
