And when I do a lot of chores my daddy gives me some money for doing what I need to do. And the last reason why I get me some is because when my daddy is in pain I always heal him up, and when I go to school my daddy always gives me money for I can get lunch. And when MY DADDY NEEDS SOMETHING I GET IT FOR HINM AND HE PAY ME BACK. THE END."

"Instead of a spender, I am a saver. Here's a funny story that I remember about my brother. Two years ago I had around 160 dollars saved up for anything special. On a weekend around that time, my 7 year-old brother was a super spender. He spent it mostly on toys, our money came from the source of birthdays. Well, he really wanted to go see a movie that only him or boys would like. Our dad said to him "Only if you can pay for your ticket." Sense he spent almost all of his money by then, he came downstairs with hundreds of coins and said "Ok, but you got to help me count." We just laughed and laughed. Then our dad said he'll pay and then they left. My brother told me he had enjoyed the movie a lot, when they got back home. While our mother and I got to hang with each other and talk about school a stuff."

I always save each cent I find and earn, and sometimes my mom is like, "Jennie, for every A you get on your report card, I'll give you six dollars, " which is AWESOME because I always get A's (or mostly get A's). "Save" is to save for something big in the future, like a car or college, and I take it to the bank every time it's full. "Give" is for me to buy birthday presents or to donate or things like that. It is a great way that helped me save my money."
--Ashley, 13
"I spend my money on clothes and important thing I don't make my mom buy Bratz or Webkinz that is Christmas and my b-day. Previously I had a fundraiser for Down's Syndrome kids and we raised money selling lemonade then we raised some without doing a fundraiser! So that's good enough for me!"
--Marissa, 9
"Yeah, I usually don't ask for much. When I do, its only when I need new clothes because I outgrew my old ones, it Christmas, my birthday, or something like that. I do get things every now and then...But not much. I like to try to save money."
--Laura, 12
I have 23$ in the bank I call Mom". My mom holds my money until I have enough for what I want. For example, I ask my mom for a video game I want. She holds my money until I earn enough.
--Racel, 9
"My daddy is nice and my mommy is nice."
--Marquiesha
"I don't do chores usually, all I really have is from teeth, and birthdays/Christmas. I do have a ton of coins, though. I'll have to count them."
--Not telling., 9
"When I have lots of money I'm afraid I'll waste it all, so if I find 2 cool things, I choose between the 2!"
--Kayla, 12
"Not really. I carry around a lot of money in my wallet, and often I buy things just because I have money. Like when I go to the candy store with my friends, I'll buy lots and lots of candy because it's so cheap and then I'll realize that I can't eat it all. I've been trying to be more careful about spending. Maybe I shouldn't carry so much money with me, so then I won't spend as much."
--Kiera, 11
"Heh. Not exactly. I splurge a lot on clothes. I would pay for it but you know, child labor laws and all. I can't get any job. I love Aeropostale, Hollister, Abercrombie kids, Roxy, and American Eagle. Oh yeah, also Coach & Juicy Couture. So you can see how the price can get a bit out of hand..."
--Kimberly, 10
"Right now I have about $250 dollars. So I would think about how much money I would have after I buy something."
--Annie, 8
"I buy cheap things like, say, little games and action figures and card games and other stuff."
--Casey, 8
"I don't save money. I just use credit cards..."
--Hayden, 13
"Yes, I do think I'm a "Smart spender, " because I only buy things that are a really good deal or that are clearance or on sale. I also buy a lot of things on the Internet, like I got my camera and my Ipod on the computer for a lot less than at the store. I got my Ipod (nano) 4 like 120$! LOL!"
--Mizzjack31, 12
"I keep wanting to spend the money I saved for a long while! But then I always think...I could use it to buy souvenirs on our next trip to Florida!"

My sister gives me money to clean her car and my mom for cleaning the yard. My mom pays me 20 dollars, and Yuriko my sister pays me 15 dollars. Thats how I get my allowance.

Hay! You have money and do not now how to spend it? well think of it this way: you can save it to go to collage!!! Love, Brittaney.
--Brittaney, 11
I love spending money!!! So I run out pretty fast. And I got sick of working for just junk. Now the only stuff I buy is stuff for my band.
--Andy, 10
I don't need it, but who cares?
--Carley, 12
I consider myself a smart spender. I save my money for something I reeeaaally want and then I take some money out of the money I've earned (maybe 40%) for something else I want.
--Anonymous, 11
I spend most of my money shopping for things I want. My parents buy me things I need.

Don't fall for those toys you see in fast-food restaurants. I like them, but I don't let the toy make me come there every day. REMEMBER: Don't let an employee make you buy anything you don't want.
--HannahMontana
Money is a very good thing that we have developed in this today and in my opinion kids and adults are spending it on all the wrong things. As in, you could ask an adult or kid what they would do if the got a million dollars and they will say I would spend on everything so my life can be perfect and you are definitely right. I mean they put money to do something with it. So I say to America: spend it all for everything that you want not on what the people down the street want. Its your money and your life. Do what you want with it. LoVe MEGAN. SHOW SOME LOVE. MWAH!! : >.
--Megan, 12
NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO.
--Webkinz Girlz 101
Im sorta a smart spender cuz I like to spend a lot. I save money by keeping it in my purse. And I try to save for things I want or need. Peace!.
--CreamPuff, 10
Yo Keith: a lemonade stand is a stand on the sidewalk. Tomorrow after my Saturday & Sunday school the lemonade will cost $1.00 and customers spend $36.00 + 45.00 = 80 at Westside Park. From Rashid.
--Keith, 9
Spend your money on things you need to live.
--Karissa, 9
I am not a smart spender because I get $150 a week, and in one day I spend it all up at the mall because I just go crazy and like to buy everything from every store...
--Melinda
Well, I've been saving money for a club house that Im building with my friends, and so far I haven't touched any of it to buy stuff I want for myself. I consider myself a smart spender. Also, when Im shopping with my own money, I look for sales. So Im a smart spender and saver, I guess. Oh, and I know if this gets posted up you'll ask how much I've got saved and we've got $200. Not that much, but oh, well. Bye.
--RonWeasleyGirl, 11
I like to spend money, but when Im at the store with MY money, my friends are like SPEND, SPEND, SPEND! And Im all: Well, I don't want to spend too much either. I consider my self a smart spender on Millsberry. Com.
--Perfect_nobody, 11
If I had a 1 million. I would give some to my friend who don't have lot of money. Half in saving account and part spending...
--AKgirl18
No I am not good at spending smart. I spend most on Webkinz when I have 15.
--Alyssa, 9
Said my grandmother, I need to spend my money in subjects, projects, and other things.
--Leiza, 8
I aint a smart spender, believe me. I only have like 30 bucks in my bank.
--Jon, 9
Yes I do, because I only spend things on what I really need, such as clothes. I save my $30.00 a week and every Friday, Saturday and Sunday if I want something I could buy it.
--Jessica, 11
I am a very smart spender because I never wish I would not of bought something also I just save money by saying do I really need that then usually I say no.
--Taylor, 11
I consider myself a smart spender because I look around before deciding to buy I. E. If I want to buy a book, I look around bookstores to see which stores a) sell the book I want cheaper and b) if they carry the book I want. I usually look for clothes in the bargain area because if it's there, that means everyone has stopped wearing it so no one will be wearing the same thing.
--Izzy, 13
I love spend money mostly time I save it. In my saving account almost 1,000. Thats for the future.
--Akgirl18
I don't have an allowance so I can't spend any money at all! But I don't care because if I did have an allowance, then I would spend all my money on books, books, and more book. My mom says that I can only read one book every three days because my eyes are getting bad. Sometimes I don't care about my eyes but my mom doesn't want me to read too many books. She knows that if I get an allowance, I would spend all my money on books. I don't think Im a smart spender but my best friend sure is. She saves her allowance for four weeks and then she spends half of the money on clothes, candy, and posters...
--Hannah, 9
What should you spend your money on?
--Ashley, 8
IM AN EXCELLENT SHOPPER! Dudes, get this! They had Game Boys on Sale for $69 a piece. I got the game boy color for $69. Anyway, I save money by begging strangers for money. I just got a 20 from this dude at the grocery store. Pretty Sweet EH?
--SmartShoppa, 11
I am a very smart shopper. If I want something I MAKE SURE I get what I went into the store to get. What I do is I go into the store and I walk through the isles looking straight ahead not at what's on the shelves. I go down the furniture or baby isles to avoid something I don't need. Once I get to the isle I need I look for what I came for. Once I find it I do the math and see how much I'll have left over then I'll start looking at other things.
--Brittney
I spend my money on stamps for letters to my pen pals. I wish they wouldn't make them so much $.
--Maria14345, 10
One thing. Most of the time, I can't spend money on anything. Either I don't have my purse, or I don't have enough money, or simply because my mom won't let me buy it. I. E. I was at Target, and we were walking through the starwars aisle, and I saw a starwars action figure that I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY, wanted to buy. I had my purse, I had my money, but my mom would not let me buy it.
--Hannah, 10
Yes, in fact I do. (Not trying to bost or anything. ) I do consider myself a smart spender because I save most of my money that I earn. I save my money for the future, and on things that I want and need. I do this by working hard, and saving up spending money and saving money in two seperate bank spaces.
--BusyGirl123
Yeahh. I consider myself a smart spender. I save money for things I want, and I also but some of the money in the bank for future purposes. : ].

--Tynika, 10
Most of the time I am a smart spender. Im not impulsive and I always go for the cheaper option (or the more worthwhile option). But sometimes I spend too much on things I don't really need.
--Kate, 11
I consider myself a smart spender. I only buy things I need. All the rest I save. I save for college and a trip to Australia where my sister is going to be a missionary in. Also I have money put aside for presents and pleasure.
--Pop, 13
I love money but Im saving up for Christmas even if it is 6 months. I work and do chores.

I've always been good with money, I always save up a huge amount of money and then one day when Im in the mood to buy something I just go crazy! Its so fun!.
--Casey, 11
I think if you are a smart spender you should spend your money wisely. Do 't spend it on stupid stuff like a video game when you need new clothes.
--Sombero, 12
I think I am a smart spender. It usually takes 10 minutes to decide if I want it or not, unless I specifically went to buy it...
--Jerold, 10
If I have very little money I just buy something cheap, like $1. 00.

--Erick, 13
So I just put my money hidden, and when I dont have money I just go and get the money and waste it. Allll of it. Ok, so bye.

I am a smart spender in my opinion. The reason is that there's nothing out there I really need to buy. When I go to the mall with friends I usually put the limited amount of money I want to spend in my pocket but encourage myself not to spend it all. Another way to save money is to put it in the bank and withdraw it when you really need it. Another way to save money if you like to shop is to get a job or earn money for doing odd jobs in your neighborhood.
--Lucy, 12
Tip: Do not believe those ads you see. Those ads may not be true.
--LittleMiss Popular, 12
Yes, I do. I just save money any way/whenever I can and I don't usually buy expensive stuff, so my money amount stays mostly the same in the long run.
--Veronique, 12
You should spend your money wisely. Spend it on more things you need than want. You'll save money for those wants too!
--Sunshine
I have used tips and tricks over these couple years to become a smart spender. I use store credit if I cannot fully return something, I keep all receipts when I buy something, and I check out the nice looking sales at Russe and Forever21 when I shop. Those are very helpful!!!
--Lexa, 12
Once I bought this huge, furry stuffed animal monkey and then I brought it home and totally hated it!!!!! = ( I have been learning to shop smart after that buy!!!

I am NOT a smart spender. I buy things and then 10 minutes later say OMG I can't believe I liked that 10 minutes ago!!! =P.
--TheBigCheese, 11
Im starting babysitting when I am 13 because I wanted the extra money to get things I want, like handbags and tops. I don't normally spend it on things like food or drink. I find it really hard to save up money because I hardly have any money in my bank account for Uni but I know I will need it. Any ideas for what I can do for money until Im 13??...Help.

I dont think I spend money very will sometimes because I go and spend my money on candy but I also put some of my money in my bank account so I really dont know I would consider it good I guess!!
--Jaylynn, 12
A great way to spend money is for more supplies for sitting or save your money for something very important not something that's the latest trend because it will just be gone just in a snap!
--Lindsey, 10
I would start saving! No time to lose! Then buy the thing!
--Fan, 10
I have, like, $125! : -) I don't buy a lot of stuff. The majority of things I buy are coffee coolattas from Dunkin Donuts...: ) ) ) ).
--Hello
Madylon, 11, how did you get started babysitting? I like kids--I don't have any siblings though and I could REALLY use some extra cash! Like I heard about this other girl on another topic called Leilani- something and she's raising money to donate Bibles to poor people in India which I think is REALLY sweet and I wanna help too but I have zero cash and zero allowance. HELP ME HELP POOR PEOPLE!!!
--HilaryDuff, 12
I consider myself a smart spender because if I really want something, I'll look around for the best model (like for mp3 players) and the best price to pay for it, and I usually don't spend my money on things that I just see and have the impulse to buy. I also LOVE to bargain shop!
--TrainTracks, 12
I think Im a not so smart spender because if I start out with $160 I'd end up with $20 at the end of the day! Oh and that happed once!!! LOL!
--Amanda, 10
No...I have a bunch on junk that I bought that are collecting dust and I dont use...
--Anonymous
I consider myself a smart spender because I can save money and I only spend them on things I really want. Not random things. Like if I want to buy this DVD, I have to be sure it's really what I want. It has to be a good DVD.
--Jenny, 11
"I think I am a pretty smart spender. But every once in a while I splurge for a new outfit or something. I get an I owe you from my mother for 10 bucks every week, so I end up spending all that, but I babysit my little brother for like, $4 an hour. I buy stuff with one half, and then put the rest of my money in my toy ATM machine...
--ZUNE Princess, 10
Im getting $200 and Im not sure what I should buy.
--Eric, 13
This is a bit off topic but has this ever happened to anyone? Yesterday, a woman wouldn't let me buy vitamin water because I was 1 cent off!
--Julia, 12
Dont buy anything uncomfortable no matter how many people are wearing it.
--Sarah, 10
No, I am definitely not a smart spender. Im not spoil, but sometimes I spend money on something before actually give it a lot of thoughts.
--Anonymous
Im getting $200 and Im not sure what I should buy.
--Eric, 13
Yeah, I think I am a smart spender. I made a box where I put all my change in, and I was kind of saving up for a blanket that I saw at the store that was soo soft and cute. Then I wanted some of those leggings that you wear, like under a mini skirt or baggy shirt, I asked my mom and she said, sure I will give you seven or eight dollars but you have to earn the rest. So I took out my change box and counted out $4. 08. The thing was the tight were $16. 00. But my Dad gave me the rest. So now I have cute leggings!
--Maria, 11
Yes cuz I make sure I dont waist a lot of money.
--Destiny, 10
Buy video games used. They're cheaper than new games. Just don't buy computer games used. They could have viruses.
--007, 11
Maya and Miguel toys.
--Tia
I dont consider myself a smart shopper because I normally want every cute thing in stores and I LOVE chocolate and candy. I also love make-up.
--Amy, 10
I dont know what to do with my money?
--Nafis, 9
I would consider myself a smart spender. When I spend money on things I make sure I don't bring all my money so that I have money leftover. I end up with at least half of what I already had earlier, so when I earn more money, I get to had what I had of that.
--ZUNE Princess, 10
I dont spend very much money. Occasionally I might buy a birthday present for my sister, jewelry wire, or a book I've never read, but it stays in my purse a long time before I use it. I dont get an allowance, but somehow I still have around thirty dollars. I love Books-a-Million and sometimes I buy books from there like American Girl books.
--Mikael, 8
I think I need to be more careful but I do spend pretty good when I go shopping for clothes. However jewelry.......I don't think so. I always end up buying cheap jewelry. I also think generic versus brand name is a big issue, but to me it doesnt matter.
--Amna, 11
I love spending money.
--Hot
I save money by not getting toys and actually getting things I need...
--Stephanie, 9
I consider myself a smart spender. I only spend my money on things that I know I need. But if it's something like a shirt I want or an overdue book payment my parent will pay for......But it leaves me to pay for the rest...

If youre a boy this advice will come in handy. DONT SPEND YOUR MONEY ON YUGIOH CARDS. Its stupid you always gat the same ones. I should know. I used to think it was cool.

--Brooke, 11
"I hate it when I have to stay home do stuff all the time. I want to go hang out with my friends but Im always busy. I think Im responsible enough to go to the mall with my friends for an hour or just play outside until my friends go home. I do my chores around the house and even do extra. All I really want to do is be able to talk to someone.
--Devon, 13

--Chria, 8

I would think I am a smart spender, I check out whats cheap also and what looks cool. One day I was at a shop with my Mom, and whatever she looked at I said the price, like That cream is 45$! Plus it was in a small bottle.
--Carly, 9
I am smart to count money I need some money.
--Akenda, 9
I DO.

--Stephanie, 12
I like keeping my money, but I like spending it too!!!
--Bob
I might not always be a smart spender, but I am a good saver. I save my money until it is necessary to spend it.
--Katie, 12
The first thing I am going to talk about is how I save money. I save money by putting all my money from birthdays, holidays, special events, etc. It is vary hard to save money for the things you want and need these days. I only spend money on the things I want and need and giving to charity.
--Taylor, 8
Americangirl sorry I have brownish-red hair and brown eyes.
--PopularGirl, 9
Im a pretty smart spender sometimes. Sometimes I spend impulsively. I save things. I just put my allowance in my piggy bank and I check how much money I have later on...
--Karen, 11
Well I work so I really save a lot so yeah I guess I consider myself a smart spender but sometimes I want to go and buy a new movie right away.
--Skater Dude
Yes, pretty much...I basically spend my money on accessories, make up, and video games...But I don't like my job. My job pays well but it isn't fun, I get yelled at a lot and it's only in summer. Since everyone for some reason is talking about what they look like, Im about 5ft or 5'1'', with brown, long curly hair (and long bangs that get poofy at times), and brown eyes.
--MissMonkey, 11
I consider myself a big sender. I buy lots of stuff all at once if I have the money. But around Christmas time I usually set a budget for me && for the people that Im buying for...
--Erin
I write a list but sometimes that does not always work there are lots of things to buy it not easy to save but when I do save I find better things to buy.
--Wispe, 13
Nah. Not really! I ask money from my parents every time we go shoppin'. I buy video games, albums, clothes, books, lotsa stuff...

I do consider myself as a smart shopper almost all the time.
--Tonya
I have a hard time spending my money. I just hoard it away. Im such a miser XD! Tea time! Better run! Ta-ta!
--Alice L, 13
I save my money when I am at a party in the mall and I only have 10 bucks. I don't save when I have 100 dollars. You need to look at all the selections in the stores then go back and make your choice of things you want to buy!!
--Krissi, 13
I pretty sure I am a smart spender, in my own opinion. But in my mom's opinion, I like to shop a LOT. But, I look for the cheapest shirts at Target. And the cheapest Christmas cards and wrapping paper and stuff. If I were to count my money up tonight, I probably will have about $50.00. I like to spend when I have lots of money, but that's not very often. I have my own biz, so I get $3.00 every order I get. When I get money, I usually take $1.00 to spend. Last time I bought money I used my $5.00 allowance. Other than spending a little money every 2nd time we go to the store, I am a great saver and a smart spender...
--Rachael, 10
I don't think I am very smart at spending money. I don't have a job so I don't really get money. But when I get money it's gone in like a week. I save money by keeping it in my jewelry box...
--Anonymous
Popular girl Brown hair and green eyes? Im guessing...
--Americangirl
I would consider myself a smart spender, not to toot my own horn but it is my opinion. I babysit like three or four times a month. I charge a certain amount of money also. I charge Five dollars an hour per kid. So on average with this family that I babysit I earn maybe about fifty bucks, they are usually gone a while anyway. I love money!!!! I am trying to save up enough money to buy a plane ticket. I have enough money for that but I need to extra for college. I have a total of, , , , , , , , , let me count......if I am going to count tonight, then I would say $500 bucks. I really dont like to brag about it either. But I think my ideas might help other people.
--Madylon, 11
I love money I get to buy what ever I want with it!!!!!! But a lot of things are really really too much money!!! Ne time I saved up to $980. I know it is a lot!!!!!!!! So I spent a little bit then it became most of it!

Well, I get $10.00 a week for chores so right now I have $70.00, I want to buy Christmas presents with it...Hey, Sillputty, Paris, and Hilary Duff, this isnt about what you look like its about spending smarts!
--Tegan, 11
Save up your money for a year you should have at least 100$ and then spend it on something you need or something you will use ALL the time.
--Rockr chick, **
If I were a Smart Spender" I would give some money to my mom, dad, sister, aunts, and on food, water, my bill's and for me. (For me because it's my money!).
--Cabbage Patch Fan 06, 12
I spend money on things I NEED like food.
--Ooooooooooooiioioioi
OOOOH! OOOOOH! HarryPotter-12 I know how to get $200! Ya know Readers Digest Magazine? They have a joke-page, go to the web site and when you send in a joke and they use it, you could get up to $300. I've never dun it but I was about to but this guy sent in the same joke I was gonna use and I don't know any more good ones. P. S I am the same person as QueenElizabeth and my lucky number is twelve so that's why Im using twelve now.
--HilaryDuff, 12
For those of u who thing Im a dumb fashion-obsessed blond, u are soooooooooooo wrong! I am from India so I really have tan skin, long curly black hair, and huge almost-ebony eyes. Just cause I love huge jewelry and tacky outfit's doesn't mean Im stupid cause I make straight-A's so HA HA HA or HO HO HO or HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE or *chuckle*, *cackle*, *giggle*, *chortle*, or just *laugh*! HILARY DUFF ROCKS!
--HilaryDuff, 12
"I am a smart spender because one time my mom gave some money to spend on toys but I got a book instead."
--Ephraim, 9
"If you don't bring money you don't spend any."
--Isabel
"Paris (9) I'm taller than you. Picture a girl with brownish-red hair, brown eyes and 4'8. ;)."
--PopularGirl, 9
"Yeah! I've been saving my money for years so someday I can by a dog! Your friend Devan a fan of: IML."
--Devan, 8
"I think if you really want something save up for it. One way you can save is by when you get you allowance you save half of it for what you want and the rest you can spend."
--Irma, 12
"Sillyputty, I'm just kinda curious but how do you picture me?!?"
--SoFlyButtafliesHate
"I am a girl who likes to play with my friends. I COOK GOOD FOOD WITH MY FAMILY. BYE."
--Lili, 12
"PopularGirl: You're awesome!!! You responded to what I said, thank you so much! I'm happy! : ) : ) : ) ! *smiles ear to ear*."
--MissMonkey, 11
"Anyone: Try imagining me. P. S. : I do not have blond hair and hazel eyes!"
--PopularGirl, 9
"London-oops! I guess I was off by a ton!!"
--Sillyputty, 99
"I think that I waste all of my money on chocolate HELP ME!!!"
--Te-Ahna, 12
First of all: I DON'T EVEN GET AN ALLOWANCE! I have never saved a thing in my life. Seriously. One time I got $100 for making straight A's and the first thing I did was to go to Claire's (for those of you who don't know what that is, it's an accessory store for people like me who love super-shiny-BIG-earrings! ) I spent $20 on earrings and the rest on shoes and food.
--HilaryDuff, 11
Okay, Hannah 8, no offense but HOW CAN YOU SPEND YOUR ALLOWANCE ON MATHBOOKS? ! If I got $5 a week, I'd spend on jewelry! By the way, I AM A 100% GIRLY-GIRL- I have never been to a baseball, basketball, or football game in my entire life and I never will! P. S. SEE CLAIRE'S. Com if you are a fashion-freak like me!
--HilaryDuff, 11
What should I do.
--Macoyia, 11
MissMonkey (11) : Thanks for the advice! : ).
--PopularGirl, 9
JS-I am black straight smooth hair and bronze skin.
--Sillyputty
Think to yourself every time you want to buy something: do I really need this?
--Stephanie, 13
Silly putty, I have brown hair mixed with gold and hazel eyes!
--London, 10

--Natalie, 11
Yea, I have like $60 in my wallet, and Im saving it for a new cell phone. So yeah, Im gonna buy a super sick one in February of 2007. I can't wait. But yeah, I save money, I mean Im too smart now to.
--Katey
I spend if I see it is like 2 or 3 bucks.
--Naomi, 8
Everybody, Im getting really confused, because everybody is changing their screen names, and I can't rememeber who is who anymore.
--Lori, 11
Sillyputty: Yeah! You're pretty much right! My hair is like that, and my hair is very long. Except it's kind of more blonde than brown. It's not real wavy, but it is kind of. My favorite color is purple, and I do like to wear this purple shirt. I like to play with my friends, but not get in the mud.
--Lori, 11
PopularGirl (9) : Get whichever doll you like best but, I wouldn't get too many dolls if I were you. I say this because Im only two years older than you and HATE all types of dolls. Worst than that I have like, at least 100 Barbies I got when I was little that my mom wont let me get rid of. I boxed them and am about to put them in storage though. But, what Im getting at even though I keep on talking about other stuff, is that you shouldn't count on other people to tell you what you should buy.
--MissMonkey, 11
Well, I wouldn't exactly call myself a smart spender. The smartest thing I've done so far is that I bought a ticket to the winter ball. I live in Canada though...
--Nicole
London-I never did picture u from London. I thought u were from NY or some other big city. Blondie that looks like a mini Hillary Duff. Wears a lot of striped shirts w/ skinny jeans.
--Sillyputty
SillyPutty: Ha, no, I don't really look like that. First of all, with my general klutziness, skateboards are weapons. I have curly brown hair with natural blonde streaks, that comes to the middle of my back, and green eyes. I picture Paris with long black hair and green eyes, and quite short (no offense. Harry Potter, I picture with dark blonde or light brown hair, and blue-green eyes. Largely because of the name Chocoholic, I picture you with dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. I imagine Violet with dark blue eyes and dark brown hair.
--JS, 13
I have like 2 dollars rite now and we r having a scholastics book fair in 2 weeks. I need 2 buy books! LOL I heart books but my mom says that I should go to the library more, I use my own $$$.
--Sillyputty
One thing you should never buy is food. You can get it at home for free, so it's just a waste of money.
--Socrates
Sillyputty how do you picture me?
--Paris, 9
I only spend money on things I need like I only have three school shirts and they have lasted me 2 years of school.
--Anonymous, ##
Should I change to Polly Pocket? Fellow IMLers, choose.
--PopularGirl, 9
Lori-Light brown hair, kinda wavy and long, purple shirt w/ nothing on it, short sleeve with light blue frayed shorts and plays with friends a lot, get dirty with mud.
--Sillyputty
I buy what I want, when I want!
--London, 10
I neeeeeed it to buy some stuff for my pets.
--Trace, 9
We are fun to play with because you make me smile. I love PBS kids because Maya is fun too. I love you Maya.
--Sheronda
Hear ye hear ye I have my alias instead of abbey Im now London!
--London, 10
When I started to have my own money I had a bad habit of spending it a soon as I got it I just could not control myself, after I made a really big mistake I had to find a way to save money so I found that when I don't have all my money with me at the store or the mall I can think about the stuff Im getting instead of getting junk just because I have money with me. So I opened a savings account at the bank. It helped me control my spending habits.
--Nina
Silly Putty! Hahaha! I WISH I looked like that but I dont I have long red (copper) hair that comes down almost to my behind and I have brown eyes and I am 4 feet and 6 inches high and weigh about 95 pounds. But dont feel bad that u got it all wrong! How about u guess what my fave color is?
--Americangirl
SillyPutty (10) how do you picture me?
--ShiShi, 10
Sillyputty: How do you picture me? If u tell me, I'll tell u if you're right.
--Lori, 11
Well, I go help my dad upholster church benches and I get a lot of money! Last time I got 72 dollars! But, alas I spent all my money on books and art stuff. So no I would not consider my self a wise spender.
--Fluenza, 12
I might not be a smart spender. It's true, maybe.
--Betty, 12
Sillyputty: how do you picture me? P. S. Im not from London!
--London, 10
Should you buy an according to the cheapest price or the better quality? Elizabeth, 9 Both! But that is hard, except for sales and clearance is a good deal 2!
--Sillyputty, 10
I am so not a smart spender! Ok, like right after I get my allowance I buy a book, a new CD, earrings, movie whatever and my money goes *poof* down the drain. I try to save...But it never works.
--Ivy, 12
Hi. I do spend smart. Me and my cousin who is 7 are models, but we dont act like we got the money.
--Abbey, 10
I don't go to the mall that often, so if I need something, I'll give her ten bucks, and she'll buy it for me, and I won't be tempted to buy anything else.
--Iazi, 10
I never spend money on toys that I'll get tired of after an hour.
--Frances, 10
Americangirl-I picture u as a person w/ blonde hair, blue eyes, like the average American Girl doll. Am I rite? Harrypotter-Srry, can't help u there. Steal form ATMS! Jk.
--Sillyputty, 10
Help any time I try and clean my room.
--Bethany, 11
Sometimes I go over my limit, though I get money from babysitting my friend Ellie's daughter Dina.
--Darcy
Smart spender...Idk.
--Bintty
I always buy things that I don't need. If there is something that I really want I think about how my life would be same if I did not have what I wanted.
--Isabel, 11
Im not a smart spender in fact my mom spends all the money on what I want...However I only buy the latest, newest games that gaming sites give good scores.
--Anonymous
Im a pretty smart spender most of the time. I buy things I want and need (like birthday presents)...
--Karen, 11
I go to Grocery Outlet which is a supermarket because in there cheese puffs bags is only a dollar and it's little saltier than cheetos, but it's still delicious! I can buy six chocolate bars for one dollar, and it's very good, just like the ones that they sell at the regular store, which is 60 cents for each. When I am at the food court place, I buy a la carte and bring my own rice. And instead of drinking soda, I drink sugar water (but not too much) I know that generic items are almost always same as brands give or take a little of this or that sometimes but mostly, they are great, and it's great on my pocket too!
--Jessica, 13
I only buy books that are like workbooks and calendars with appointment where I am supposed to write or compute or cut out. I usually don't buy books only for reading purposes. Reading books, I borrow from the library. And if there is a book that I want to read but it's not available in my library then I just request it through internet and reserve it then pick it up when they notify me that it's ready for pick up.
--Jessica, 13
It would be cool if we knew what everybody looked like, and what they were like.
--Lori, 11
"HERE is some advice I can't get my mom to follow: Don't buy everything you see (or just don't need) even though its on sale. Believe it or not, you spend more of the green stuff that way. Instead, buy a nice hoody you can wear for a year or even 2 from Hollister or a really nice store. Every time you put it on you'll feel proud you bought it, treat it better, and it won't end up in a garage sale along with that UGLY picture frame you don't even remember why you bought!!!!!! My mom loves sales. Seriously, sad.
--Angelina
Did you know sales aren't all THAT great?! Some sales aren't really sales. A pair of jeans originally cost about 30$, right? Well say a store puts that price up to 50$-insane. Then, to fool society, they call it a 'sale' when they pull it down to 40$. That ISN'T a sale. Many big companies do this, so be ready to check other stores for the same pair of jeans.
--Lena, 13
Hear ye hear ye! Do to many Kristens on the site, I will by changing my nickname to KHpigs my initials and my favorite animal! No age too!
--KHpigs
Phoenix-b/c phoenix is a city in Arizona, that's how I picture u. Oh yeah Im chocoholic.
--Sillyputty, 10
Chocoholic (silly putty) how do u picture me?
--Americangirl
Should you buy an according to the cheapest price or the better quality?
--Elizabeth, 9
How to spend money. How will I spend money I will get paid by see how much I have in my account.
--Sheronda
I have to save over $200 right now! I asked my mother how much a ticket for a Broadway show costs, and she said that they cost over a hundred dollars a person! Then she asked if I was to take a friend, who would it be (This part is irrelevant, but I said that I would take my friend Sage). Anybody here know any ways that I can bag $200+?
--HarryPotter, 12
No. I spend too much. : -P.
--Kevin, 13
I put some money in the bank.
--T. Y, 10
I would spend my money on what I really really need.
--Angelica, 9
Yes I do I just save it for things I dearly need or emergency needs or things I need for babysitting or some sort. =/.
--Taylor, 10
Yes I do because I think and say can I live or get it later what can I use it for? And is it that important? I only buy things I dearly need like things for babysitting.
--Taylor, 10
How do you save money?
--Anna, 9
How do you earn $25 or more before 2/10 when you only get 25 cents a day? I think I should sell things but Im only 8.
--Joe, 8

--Sillyputty, 10
Hi, Chocoholic! I noticed the How I picture everyone on IML"...Actually, I live in Canada...I've never been to Arizona, and my hair, yep, it's brown, but it's not that curly, more wavy. Squee. I love prediction thingies.

--Chocoholic, 10
I really want this game called Lego Star Wars 2. But it is $40.00 and I need to wait 4 weeks I can't wait that long. What should I do?
--Greg, 10
I save money by buying my clothing at the Goodwill (a used clothing store) on half-price day, and by thinking for a long time before I buy anything. I have avoided a lot of impulse buys this way. I am also going to put my money into a Certificate of Deposit because that earns about 5% per year in interest instead of only 1% a year that my savings account generates as well as keeping me from making impulse buys.
--Nef, 13
I usually go shopping with my mom and if she say I can get it, I almost always get it.
--Hannah, 9
I only use my money I know I will use. Like The toyish ATM Bank I bought. It sets a limit so I never take 2 much.
--Slip-Slide022
I'm good at spending money. My mom doesn't seem to mind buying all my clothes so I just buy things that I really want every once in a while.
--Kaley
Oh sure Im ok at spending money. It's EARNING money that I need to work on!
--Americangirl
I really like video games. And we go to the video game store a lot. So I look for used games I like. I got a Baby-sitters-club used DVD (I LOVE the BSC) for 4.00!!! And I got a series of unfortunate events DVD for 9.00!!! I got a harvest moon game, that was used and I got 17.99 deal!!! And the new ones cost about 50.00 or 40.00 dollars! Yes I do :D.
--Trendytrickster, 10
This is how I picture everyone on IML-Phoenix-Brown curly hair and lives in Arizona*HarryPotter-Looks like Harry Potter but with more girly features*JS-Black hair and skateboards*Mohammed-Some NASCAR driver? QueenKitten-Girly girl that loves kittens and has a kitten**I'm not trying 2 tease anyone this is what comes 2 my mind!! Yeah it's weird isn't it?
--Chocoholic, 10

--Sk@tebo@rd3r, 13

--Melissa, 11
I forgive you Lori.
--ShiShi, 10
Im not all that good at shopping really. But Im getting better. I buy a lot more stuff that is on sale now...
--Miya, 12
I don't consider myself a smart spender at all! When I get my allowance, ($25) I just go all out! It's like impossible for me to get allowance with out spending it all on the same day!: ) But someday I will be a smart spender!!! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!!
--Mira
I dont think allowance is only about getting money, spending it and all! If I got $20 (I really dont) I would give the homeless and hungry $12. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
--Elizabeth, 10
ShiShi: I hope that you read this. Im really sorry that I was so rude to you when we were talking about babysitting. I do not know why I started the big commotion about babysitting, because most people 10+ are responsible. I hope that you read this if you are out there. Now when I read back, I realize how ignorant I was. I really am sorry, and I hope that you know that. I do not blame you if you do not forgive me. I hope that we can be friends. Bye, Shoshanna (ShiShi) From Lori.
--Lori, 11
I guess because I always put a dollar or 2 in my wallet. It's a fund for when I want something or if I need money. I have $13 in this fund right now...
--Chocoholic, 10
Well when I get money, I wait until there is something I really want. I don't just buy it on something I really don't need. If it is too much money, I wait till my birthday or Christmas.
--Erica, 10
Sometimes I spend a lot of money on stuff...Like a bunch of CDs. I LOVE MUSIC! But usually Im ok with money.
--Brie, 13
Well I buy crafts that I can use again and again until I run out of supplies then I can go buy more of the supplies. The best part is you can share the craft with a friend or can sell them at a street fair or a farmers market!
--Spooky, 10

--Amanda, 12
Natalie, only spend on what you REALLY NEED like for school if you need to. If you know you did something good spend it on something NICE!(NOT TO NICE OR TO MUCH).
--CandyApple
Im just not a spender!!!! I don't know why...I just don't really have anything I HAVE to have!! It also helps that I don't care about fashion.
--Anonymous
After I spend all my money I thought about that game I wanted that I saw at the store. I asked my mom can she buy it for me...
--Tatyana, 9
I consider myself a smart spender because well...I HAVEN'T SPENT MONEY IN A COUPLE A MONTHS. I put it in a bank account.
--Rachel, 10
Yes I am smart spender and I am always careful to not over spend on money but it helps me learn to be a smart spender and not buy things that not needed only things we need like house hold things by Jessica M.
--Jessica
Sometimes I am. When Im trying to save money I usually put aside a certain amount, depending on how much I earned. I put the money in some sort of a container, and put it somewhere where I won't be tempted to use it.
--Abby, 13

--Madylon, 11
"*SHRUGS* Ya I think Im a smart spender. I don't get allowance so it takes long for me to save a lot. Now I don't have any money only like 20$ cause I just got a dog and I got him with my own money. Anyways since Im trying to save for a laptop Im for my bday Im gonna ask people for $$$ only so in thanksgiving (when everything is on sale) Im gonna get a laptop and donate what's left of my money.

So maybe I get extra 5$ and sometimes I spend it on pencils, candy and I go to the dollar store I buy notebooks, toys and art supplies. So I have 20.00$ to take with me to Clifs on Friday : ) .
--Native2023, 11
I'll admit Im sooooo not a smart spender only because I shop brand-name but I don't really care because I can totally afford it [ sorry if I sound like a snob because Im not =) ] but I actually don't spend my $$$ because when I want something I ask, I get, so I don't get money only on like holidays and stuff so when I wanna go shopping I just ask for the money.
--Anonymous

I have around $300.00 and I earn about $40.00 a week I am not a big spender but every once in a while I buy a new CD for my Ipod and I am going to buy a Betta in about a week. I play comp soccer so some of the money I earn has to help pay for soccer.
--Peter, 11
I dont like spending money unless it's on something cool and I usually dont so I have a lot of dough. I really want an iPod Nano and I've saved up especially for that, and I really want to buy it soon!!! =D : ). ~**~. ~**~. ~**~. ~**~. ~**~. ~**~. ~**~...
--Brigit, 12
What I do if I want something is I ask my parents first to see if they can buy it (LOL. ) and I ask them if its ok if I can even get it. And if they say I have to save up my money if I want to get it then I just do chores until I have enough money for what I want.
--Nikki, 11
I use my money on school supplies, but if I have extra I buy a treat.
--Alice, 9

I consider myself a smart spender. I save money by putting part of it in a savings account.

I spend little money, like less than 5 dollars, and I only spend that like once every month at least.
--Luke, 11
I guess Im a Smart spender". I get a great allowance and I have a job and I babysit so I have plenty of money. I save 10% and give 10% to my church. And lately I've been trying to keep like 50 bucks at home and save the rest. That way I get money saved up for later and still get to spend money, cuz I luuuuuuv to shop!!!! I try to find bargains and I luv clearance racks!! =) So yeah thats sorta what I do with my money.
--Laura, 13
Well like Im an only child so once I spend all of my money. My parents just give me more cash! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
--Anonymous
I think I am a smart spender because I go to thrift stores and get good bargains.
--Moiona, 9
Vira: That is kind of rude, because IPods cost a lot of money, and you shouldn't just waste it. Even if you don't think that it's special, you shouldn't go around being so mean to other people, who actually enjoy it!
--Lori, 11
I will like to spend my money on peole who dont have things like houses, and kids who dont go to school and find a job for them and have things to love them as a family and friends. And things to play with and things to sleep in. And I had that when I was a little girl so I want to help them out because help to me I think.
--Natasha
Sure Im pretty good at managing money.
--Esther, 12
I guess Im a smart spender, smart enough at least. *shrugs* I know what I like, so the money going towards the clothes, books, food, drinks, and accessories I buy, that money's worth it. ^^.
--Phoenix, 11
I love to spend my money on expensive clothes. I just think it's important to remember to never spend all your money at once. You should always have at least 10-20 dollars in your purse.
--Serena, 12
Sometimes. It depends.
--Dumb, 13
When I need to get something at Amazon.com, I make sure my parents send me a gift certificate. If it's a used item, I can usually get a good deal. When I placed my order for Celebrity Deathmatch, I only paid $6.95 for it. The game itself was $3.46, $3.49 for shipping. $6.95 total. Talk about a very sweet deal.
--Charles
I save my money in my bank. Then when I want it, I can get some out. Like when I go to Adventureland, I can get some out. And If I want some for Chicago I have it.
--Brittany, 11
SaraM, you don't need to buy needful things ALL the time! That's what money is for! The occasional treat (*occasional*)!.
--ComicGirl, 12
I save it. I work for my money, which isnt very much. I mostly buy science stuff, and stuff for others (my dad says its my luv language).
--Ashley, 12
I am considered a good spender because I shop for what was in style months ago and trust me, it still looks fashionable! I save more money though... Because I want to go to Yale or Harvard. I do it because I want to!!!!!!!!!
--Anny, 13
Viva, 10: Hey! It's a big deal to me! I saved every last bit of my money to buy it and Im proud of it! *Celebration Dance* Cool name, BTW.
--ComicGirl, 12
Yes. Be afraid. Be VERY afraid. I found a bag of nummy yummy potato chips (I was shopping with mom at a grocery store) that was the store brand. It had more than Ruffles & it cost less & they tasted the same! I only get new clothes if I want to on my birthday & I get 'em from goodwill. And some come from my aunt's friend. I only buy toys if I want to! So, Be afraid BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!
--EvilGir, 9
I get the store brand potato chips & store brand kool-aid. I am a smarty-arty spender. Be afraid. Be very AFRAID! I get my jewelry from me (beading kit & hand-ME-downs). I get the clothes by goodwill & I get books by library (my favorite books are usually old ones unless they are the Baby-sitter Club which I get from a bookstore). And my music is the XM dish radio. I only get bad when I get toys & keep a book too long. Ha Ha Ha! By the way, this is evilgir.
--JustsayNowayGalPal, 9
I am not a smart spender. I buy everything that is cute. In other terms I am a smart spender...only because my mom and dad never let me buy anything when they are paying attention to my shopping...
--Sarah, 13
Yes! I am a bargain hunter. I can buy a ton of clothes that are not expensive but look great still.
--Izzy, 12
Michelle (10): You're so not a dork!!! I think it's GREEEAT that you know what you want. And people who say you're a dork? You'll be laughing when you're making loads of money from your college degree. You go girl!
--ComicGirl, 12
Im a tween, and I barely ever buy anything! And I've got my own bank account! So, yes, I consider myself a smart spender.

--Zoe, 10
Kate: Argh! I AM jealous. And you are very braggy!
--JS
Buy needful things guys, or you will be hurtful of it.
--SaraM, 11
Yeah. I get really good deals on jewelry & stuff! I got 2 bracelets at a discount store and whoooo!!! They were 1 dollar each! And my mom gave me a charm bracelet for $0.00! CCCOOOOOOLLL. And I use my allowance for books, and I like books so it's money well spent...N n*.
--Fadsaresobad4you, 9
I would say I am a smart spender, because I save up money for things I need and want!
--Ashley, 13
Since I get $86 a week, I don't really need to save unless I want to buy something really big! BE JEALOUS!!!!
--Kate, 13
OMG Comicgirl!!! I've had an IPOD for 2 years!!! Not that special!!Love ya!!!!
--Viva, 10
I put money in the bank for saving. I get to save some in my piggy bank.
--Victoria, 8
I get allowance every other week and what I do with it is I spend a little, give half to my parents (because they buy me food dont they?), and then use half to buy clothing to wear.
--Melissa, 11
Yea, I do. I havent spent any of my money for a year. My parents buy me the things I need cause Im saving for college. Every penny I get goes to the bank.
--Bridget, 13
Kind of, because sometimes I want to be a good older sis and I buy my lil' bro candy. Other times I make a list of what I want and need to pay for like: want: mood ring-$3.95. Need: to pay my library fine- $1.40. When I save more than enough money I spend the rest on clothes that I want that my mom can't choose cause' Im paying for it. By the way, I get A LOT of extra money. But when I spend I can't spend all of it cause I can build off of it when I get more
--DevilgirlMwaHaHa, 10
I only buy things I really need or really like. And if I buy something I make sure it won't brake right when I get home (I make sure it's not cheap).
--Payton, 9
Im one of those who don't spend their money. No, it's not cuz Im told to, but it's for my college savings that always counts. A lot of kids are probably saying college savings? What a dork! But trust me. All I care about now is a great education and great career, then when I get all my money that I make from my job, that's when the joy of spending is necessary.
--Michelle, 10
I stash my cash until I need it for something important. I treat myself 2 a movie once a month.
--Esther, 12
I work for my money, then I save it, cuz my parents by me what I want most of the time.
--Hilary, 13
The things I buy are those cute and nice stuff.
--Heather, 11
I trade things with my buds at school. For example, I have a pencil and my buddy Jane has a pencil gripper and I say to Jane, I'll trade you my pencil for your pencil gripper. Pretty smart, huh?
--Katie, 10
Spend it on my sister or my family or friends.
--Hayley, 10
"Save it."
--Stacey
"The only thing I buy is with my parents money, or I don't buy it...It's not worth it to buy stuff I don't need. My parents don't let me get everything, just stuff I need."
--Lydia, 10
"I GOT AN IPOD!!!! And I got it smart. The iPod was the average price, but I got a great deal on some speakers. I've been saving for six months, but it's worth it! :-)."
--ComicGirl, 12
"I know this sounds like boasting, but HarryPotter and Ash (if Ash isn't lying): Heh, there was a movie filmed at my school, but I wasn't in it, and I was on TV as well for this diabetes run we did at school."
--Phoenix, 11
"I only buy things that aren't so much. I used to buy everything but now I know how to spend my money."

--Jemma, 12
"I consider myself a smart spender. I buy things on sale most of the time. I do have a tendency to buy gum and breath mints a lot."
--Peter
"Yes I consider me as a smart spender and I can buy soda like Coca-Cola and like Mountain Dew and Diet Coke. That's what my Mom drinks when she gets soda. And like Pepsi and like Diet Pepsi too. And I can buy like a DVD. That's what the Easter Bunny is getting me for Easter."
--Amanda, 11
"Always choose something cheap for your piggy bank, like at a cheap store like the dollar tree or someplace else. It's fun to shop, but always ask a parent to come with you because safety first."
--Raven
"I am a smart spender. Not a super saver. If I go to Goodwill I buy at least five books at 50 cents each. Let me tell you something, Goodwill Rocks! I always find brand name jeans there for $3.50. I think that's a lot better than other clothing stores. Anyway I get $5 a week for allowance, plus extra for babysitting. My mom keeps all my money. She writes down how much I have in a ledger. My money goes into 4 sections: Saving, Giving, Gifts, and Spending. I have a sponsored child who I send $18 to each month. There are four kids in my family and we each sponsor our own child. Then we have two other sponsored kids through a different organization. We are thinking about adopting a Mexican boy and maybe a little girl. After all that I still have plenty of money to save. I always have more cash than my siblings, who often pay me to do their chores. I'm the oldest of my family. Note: The only time I go to the mall is for an eye exam at JC Penny Optical."
--Libia
"In 2003, I got $500.00 for Christmas and I did pretty well. It lasted me a month and a half because I had to get necessities, like clothes. And for graduation, I got about $200.00 (not all at the same time) and I did pretty well with that. I only buy the things I really want or need. Had I been smart, I would have gotten an Ipod with that $500.00!"
--Allie

--ComicGirl, 12
"I am a smart money maker. How to earn money? Just make up a store. I get $7.23 every day now. I reached up to $306.25 in cash now. If I go to Hawaii I need to mow my uncle's yard for a 31 days. I would get 740 dollars in cash."
--Matthew
"Yes I consider myself a Smart Spender. I would buy DVDs and a Disney Princess or a Bratz TV for my bedroom. Then I would have a TV in my bedroom. I would need a rug too. I would buy 3 Mary Kate and Ashley rugs. One for my TV, so that if I see someone dancing on my bedroom TV, I would dance on my Mary Kate and Ashley rug near my TV."
--Amanda, 11
"I think I'm a smart spender. I get 5$ a week for cleaning my bedroom, sweeping the floor, taking out the garbage, and cooking dinner. Every Saturday afternoon I get my allowance and every Sunday morning my parents drive me to Wal-Mart, H-E-B, or Albertsons so I can spend my allowance. Every time I get my Allowance I buy only one thing and every time I buy the same thing. MATH BOOKS! I just love math. I can't get my mind off it. Most math books costs 2$. So I only use 2$. One time at Wal-Mart I saw this math book with 280 pages and I really wanted to buy it so I'm saving 3$ every week. It costs 28$ and I already have 14$. So I consider myself to be a pretty smart spender and anyway if you buy math books with your allowance you get smarter and smarter every day. Also if you have a math quiz at your school it's going to be very easy for you because you studied!"
--Hannah, 8
"I'm saving up for a Alienware laptop. I already have $537 (lottery scratch-offs)!"

"I think I'm a pretty smart spender, but my problem isn't about over-spending, it's about underspending, if you know what I mean. I'll have saved up for something really big and important for years, and then I'll just decide that it's not that important to have it after all. In a way, that may be a good thing, but I need to balance my saving with spending on things that mean something to me."
--Amelia, 11
"I am sort of a smart spender.' I'm a shopoholic, so I always want to go to the mall, no matter how broke I am."

--Dream2sing, 11
"Yep. I don't hit the mall a lot, so I don't really spend THAT much money every month. And I am a crafty person. I made a message board out of cardboard, one color of paint, construction paper, a little glue, and three stickers!"
--HarryPotter, 12
"Ash- Were you in a movie? Just say which movie you were in, or whoever said you were lying might have been right."
--Eve, 11
"I work for hard for money, and since my mom buys me everything I absolutely need, I am saving up for a 512 megabyte zan nano plus ($100). At $16 dollars a week, it might take a while, but I really want an mp3 player, and since iPods run on Apple formatting and I don't have an Apple computer, it'd be stupid to get one. All in all, I think I'm a pretty smart spender."
--Roxanne, 11
"I'm so tight on money, even if I want to spend it so bad...if I'm at the store holding something in my hand, I'll like ask my parents if I should buy this over and over again. And then they say, If u want. it's your money.'"

--HarryPotter, 12
"I consider myself a non-good spender. I spend money on like, everything and anything that catches my attention. I purchase box sets almost all the time, and my parents don't seem to care because they think that I should be responsible with my money. But...I spend it on the stupid things."
--Ashley
"I don't spend too much money, but when I see something I like, most of the time I wait and ask myself questions about the product like Is this too expensive? How often will I use it? Will it last long enough?' It is better to think about the product before buying it the same day you saw it."
--Amanda, 13
"Why do parents not let kids spend money on something they want, not what the parents want?"
--Roseline, 10
"Well all my friends like to SPEND! SPEND! SPEND! Not like me-I like to save up and just spend if I have to."
--Nancy, 12
"Before I go to a store I make myself a list of what I need, then look at the ads to see what store has it on sale. Then I will compare the unit price. Then I will clip out coupons and use them at that store or the store will have some kind of a money saving card and I'll use both the coupons and the money saving card. Plus, when I buy clothing I will go to discount stores and places like that and buy clothing that is one size bigger, so I don't need to buy clothing every month. Right now I really don't need to go clothes shopping for at most another year or 2."
--Jessie
"Why do parents always spend their kids' money on junk?"
--Christa, 11

--Rosanna, 9
"Yes I consider myself a smart spender.' I ask myself Do I really need this? Do I want this? Or am I just buying just to buy?' Then I sleep on it before I decide to buy. Another method I use is: if my allowance is $15.00 I only spend $7.50 max (half)!"

My mom has a garage sale every year now so I get money from that too- the new is that I wait till September, then sell all my old stuff and that's when my birthday is $$. I suggest you wait until your birthday, because most of the time you will get money plus your old stuff profits. !!!!!!!!!!!!$$$$$$$$$$$."

"About a week ago, I was at a store with a friend. I had fifteen dollars in my pocket, and was trying to decide what to buy. Suddenly, this little demon inside of me whispered in my ear (not really, it's just a figure of speech): Get this, get that! You don't have anything like that! Buy! Buy! BUY!' But I said out loud, Calm down, lady.' and walked around the store for a while. I saved a lot of money just by doing that!"

I look on the sale rack because the stuff is still in style there, and I think really hard about whether I will really use it. Also, when it comes to money, I save my allowance for a super long time, then I go and spend it all. So yes, I am a smart spender."
--Livigirl, 12
"When you get money you should spend it wisely, by spending the smallest amount of money you can. For example, if a shirt costs $3.00 and a pair of pants costs $10.50, you would probably buy the shirt. I would buy the shirt, because it costs less money and you would save more money."
--Kendall, 9
"I spend pretty wisely, I guess. I save money by putting leftover coins in a jar, which I slip on a shelf or under the bed. I don't look at how many coins are already there, but keep putting money in. After a while I open it and look and think: Oh, WOW! Then there is a LOT OF COINS! Count it up, and put it in the bank (and treat yourself to a vanilla cone, too)."

"To Vaya, 10: You should keep your eye out for things that you really want, or save it all if you don't find anything. There's no point in spending money on something you don't want or just anything for the sake of buying something. Save it if there's nothing out there that you would never regret buying and you'll thank yourself when you have just enough money saved up for that flash new Ipod mini! :)."

"When I go shopping for school supplies, I went to Zellers and found a 24 pack of crayons for $0.32, then I went to Grand & Toy and found a 60 pack for $1.50. I decided to get two of the 24 packs for only $0.64. Remember, always check out lots of stores before you buy."

"Sometimes. Then other times I realize I didn't want something and I'm like, Why did I buy that?' I'm allergic to loads of make-up, so, like I have 1 lip-gloss, and it was very expensive!!!! If I'm buying a book I'll look for it second-hand or in a discount shop or in the library before I buy it. I'm a sucker for things that come free with other things! I'll buy a magazine if it has a good book/CD/DVD free with it."

"I do consider myself a smart spender, because when I want to buy something I think: What would I use it for? For about how much time would I use it? How much is the object I want to buy? These are some strategies I use for deciding if I buy something or not. Maybe you would like to use the strategies I used to buy stuff. Well that's why I think I'm a smart spender!"

"For Christmas + my birthday (there's two weeks between them), I get $100 combined. This year my Mum's taking me to a HUGE shopping centre on my b-day. I will SO be comparison shopping, and getting the best bargain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"I am a bright spender but I wouldn't say smart!"

"I usually can go into a store and have $60 and buy a pair of pants, 2 shirts and a pair of socks or belt. I buy everything on the sale rack but I'm still one of the most stylish girls in my school. Everyone else wears Roxy, Billabong and Paul Frank!"

"I think you should keep your money in a piggy bank, then when it gets full you can crack it open. Then you'll have of money."
--Reah, 11
"If you spend your money on something you don't want you are not spending smartly. You should buy one thing at a time, but just one thing. I wasn't spending my money smartly because I bought something that I didn't want and I was not caring about anything I was doing with my money. And then everything that I wanted I couldn't buy. That is why you should not buy so many things when you are out shopping. Unless it is food."

"Vaya---if there's nothing to spend your money on, don't spend it! Put $20 in a jar, so if you find something you want, you'll have the money. Put the other $30 in a bank account, and earn interest on it."

"Personally, there's not that much I spend money on. I'm a total bookworm, but I get about 24 books from the library every few weeks. I've figured out that I save $260 every month by doing that. My main spending is sweets, but I buy those in bulk, and save a few $$$. I used to spend all my pocket money on comics--- yeah, yeah, so what if I'm a girl?--- but I got a subscription to my two favorite comics, and that works out $7.60 cheaper then buying it every month. I get most of my CDs from the library. My mum pays for DVD rentals, because she usually watches them as well. Recently, I found a CD case that holds 12 CDs that cost $3, and I thought it was a good buy, but I waited. Three weeks later, in a discount store, I found a CD player case that holds a Discman and 20 CDs for $1. Good buy, or what? I get $20 pocket money a month, and I save $10 in my piggy bank, and spend the rest. I think I'm a good spender."

"I'm not sure. It's ok to spend your money on fun extras but it's better to save. I ask myself, Do I really want this? Do I have to have it?' Then I sleep on it before I decide to buy. So my answer is -- I'm half and half."

"Well what I do is I try to like find things cheaper somewhere. For example -- two days ago at Wal-Mart I saw hand sanitizer for $1.49 and then I went to a dollar store and saw it for a buck and it had 50% more in it. So I bought both of them."

"Kate (9) If I were you I would save it up for something I want. Then I would spend for a month on the mall to make up for that."

"I spend all the money I get and in the long run I regret it."

"I consider myself a smart spender because I take half my allowance and save it and another half and use it for myself-but I don't waste it or blow it off."

"I kind of consider myself a smart spender. I can save my money, unless I see an awesome CD at the store. Then I can't resist. Otherwise I'm fine."
--Jamie, 11
"Well, I can be a smart spender because when I see something I want, I ask my mom to buy it for me, but if she says no I say I'll pay you back.' But overall I think I am a very smart spender. VERY smart spender."

"I save what I need to. My dear ma says if I eat at school even when I am not that hungry that's saving, cause if don't eat the stomach have a hole, and next time I'll have to sew the hole up. I'm a big eater but I'm only 23-25 kg! FYI."

"I want to say that I have been saving money for poor people that have no food and no money and have dirty water and I wanted to help them if I can."

"You can tell I don't want to buy something when I twitch my nose from side to side. Remember, don't buy anything unless you're sure you want it!"

"I look for a lower price."
--Naomi, 13
"The way I know I spend my money is whenever I'm shopping my mom is with me and she knows what I REALLY need and don't need and about 99.9% I have saved my allowance. I only need it for food and when my mom doesn't let me buy it sometimes I get mad. But then later I feel good about myself and yes even if I wasn't with my mom I wouldn't just buy it right away. I would lose my mind thinking about it if it's for ME!!! I put $30 in a month and about over $250 a year. And don't forget u can never ever in ur life have ENOUGH MONEY!! Try saving as much as u can...even if it's only a $1 a week."
--Bhumi, 12
"Should I save my money for the mall or buy something I really want?"

"My grandma is giving me $50 for my B-Day. I don't know what to spend it on. Can you help me?"
--Vaya, 10
"I personally think that yes, I am a smart spender. But obviously other people do not think the same because when my mom and I go shopping and I find something that I like and I tell her she always says Are you sure blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blllah blah!' I feel like EXPLODING!!!!!!!!"
--Audrey, 8
"I consider myself a smart spender. Like if I want a book-I get it paperback! Why waste more money on a hardback when you're getting the same thing? Also, whenever my mom wants to buy me something, I get all reluctant if the price is expensive' (at least in my mind). I'm such a tightwad!"
--Vanessa, 11
"I put $10 dollars a month in a jar, and then when there are sales on, I can buy things I couldn't usually! I save $5 a month to put in my moneybox. And the rest I spend on things like sweets, comics, etc. I like it when my Mum brings me to designer outlets and then I can get cool designer clothes for less."
--Anonymous
"What I do is I divide it up: so much for what I need, and so much more for what I want, and so much goes into savings (it is my mom's idea)."
