"Ok I have a habit!"
--Natalie, 10
"I get influenced by my sister and my aunt, but in more of a good way than bad. My aunt pressures me to save more and my sister pressures me to spend wisely and on crafty or cool things (as in to not waste my money on something awful)."
--Anonymous
"See what I am doing is to get some money for Disney World for our family."
--Jessica
"I spend like, $10 dollars on one thing and I have a feeling that I want to spend more than$10, but now that I have a cell phone I have a goal to spend ONLY $15 or les a day."
--Mea, 11
"Me and my obsession with clothes are unbelievable, but it's a girls nature. I agree to spend your money wisely and not waste it. I love my clothes, make-up and jus being able to be dr. Pepper and quavers when I'm out and about. Spend your money on what you want, just make sure it is what you want."
--Tiffany
"YA! I LOVE to buy books and clothes! For clothes, I would go to Hollister and AE. But for books...BARNES AND NOBLE! I LOVE that store! But I would also buy my dogs stuff too. Like toys and clothes for them. I like to spoil them. =")."
--Melanie, 11
"Yeah, I never buy the stuff though. Lots of the time, products advertised everywhere isn't the best. There is always a better deal. (Just my opinion) I think ipods are advertised way more than mp3s. Mp3s store twice as much as ipods, and some mp3s are smaller and get radio. My mp3 can record sounds and stuff off the radio. (Just my opinion though. )."
--McKenzie, 11
"I love to read and I'm kinda obsessed with clothes I like well made cute clothes like Abercrombie Hollister the Gap and Limited too."
--Zoe, 12
"Ook what's with everyone and HOLLISTER? To answer the question yes I am in love with DCSHOEUSA and CONVERSE! YEA! AND ON CONCERT TICKETS! LIKE TO SLIPKNOT! WOOOOO! HAHA LOL."
--SlipKnotROx!, 13
"I'm so obsessed with The Naked Brothers Band, and I buy everything of it. I also spend a lot of my money on Inuyasha books. But I don't buy 'trendy' stuff like Abercrombie, Hollister, etc. Because I think it's snobbish and overrated."
--Pie, 12
"My grandpa started bank of America 30 years ago and when he died my dad inherited 70 million dollars but I'm not spoiled I have chores like filling the dishwasher watching my little sibs and walking our dogs I earn 15 dollars a week and I also earn a little bit of money by doing domestic abuse ads and being a extra in movies and on TV I usually spend my money on clothes toys and books."
--Zoe, 12
"Ugh...My mom. Never lets me buy anything."
--Troy
"Is it safe to email Emily 12."
--Lizzie, 10
"Yeah, like I'm kinda obsessed w/ Abercrombie thanks to my friends @ dance. My mom doesn't actually mind it saying Abercrombie, or having a moose, she doesn't like the price : (. So I spend money on Abercrombie, Hollister, limited too, converse."
--Rose, 12
"YES! My parents make a lot of money, so I have more than an average person. So, I bought myself many things--Too much to name..."
--Leigh, 12
"Yikes! I don't even want to start with all of the things I buy at my age. I'm not spoiled and my parents are middle class. I get an allowance once in awhile because I keep up my grades and help them do advertising. Hmm. Well, I am in love with fashion, clothes and trying to do things that relate to being creative, like DIY! I want to learn how to sew, and make my own personalized t-shirts, design and sew my own clothes. I always spend money on clothes or invest in starting a new craft. I bought myself a cheap sewing machine but only used it 3 times. It was a little waste of money and space because I have no one to teach me. Oh yeah, I get influenced by some of the talented sewers at my school because they are not only creative, but take it to the next level! Money goes by fast when I try to learn a new craft or buy games, clothes, accessories, shoes, hair products, electronics, etc."
--Nichero
"I get money from my parents all the time. Then I go to Hollister and spend it on cloths."
--Jed Dallas
"I hate people who are spoiled and get everything they want. I think they are stuck up brats..."
--Buss
"I spend all sorts of money but then all my money is like all gone in like 1 day and I no that I shouldn't say this but my parents isn't fair ’Äòcuz like when I do a chore they say that is a regular chore you should do every day and they don't give me no money! Not fair! So I don't have any money any way."
--Taryn, 9
"Hmm...I'm a spender, but hey, I spend it on music CDs! No, I don't listen to rap, R&B or country music. I usually listen to bands within the same label company. I don't get an allowance, so it's hard for me to get the CDs that I want. I also like to collect vinyl records from bands today that just put them out there for fun. My favorite band is Panic At The Disco."
--Corriann, 12
"Hey Emily my name is Emily to and my parents have good money to but I'm NOT spoiled so yea."
--Emily, 13
"Well, my parents are rich but I'm definitely not spoiled or anything. I only get an allowance of $5 a week though! If u want to be my friend, hang out with me by emailing me at violetrose104 @ gm ail. Com! (without the spaces. )."
--Emily, 12
"I don't collect anything, but I buy lots and lots of books."
--Yulia, 13
"Only if they're Pokemon merchandise."
--Katie P., 10
"I always want things that cost so much. Like Abercrombie clothes that I never have enough money for. I get money when I babysit, but I really hate babysitting because I always want to hang out with my friends on the weekends instead. When I have about forty dollars, I'm just burning a hole in my pocket by spending it all on one shirt. I'm starting to do chores around the house to get about ten dollars every Saturday. Money adds up. I'm learning that I can't have everything I want."
--Brianna, 13
"I love to buy the coolest toys - WEBKINZ! But now I can't get any 'cause I got over 50. So I am saving 4 a laptop!"
--The Coolest, MOI!
"I am always influenced to spend money. I treat my friends to the movies, go shopping, and everything. I just can't stop spending my money!"
--Helen, 12
"I'm not normally influenced by these things. I kinda just do my own thing most of the time. Even if the whole school had something that they said was cool, I wouldn't buy it unless I wanted it because I wanted it..."
--Rebekah, 12
"All I buy is stuff that I love like all of my CDs."

"I like to buy some of my clothes from Abercrombie and Fitch. But, I only have a few shirts and 1 pair of pants from them. Most of my clothes are less expensive, but it's OK, 'cuz that's what most of my friends do. Some expensive clothes, but mostly "Cheap" clothes."
--Rose, 11
"No. My friends think I'm a tomboy and I never spend money on trendy things or girlish things..."
--Eliza, 9
"I am usually influenced to spend things from watching TV and friends. I try to save more money then what I spend though. (:."
--BeachBumm88

--Whynn
"I am mostly influenced from the TV, and some from my friends..."
--BusyGirl123
"I would have to say computer, TV and friends..."
--Ashlie<3, 12
"Yes, obviously because they are there and we make good use of what we have. Sometimes TV, movies, trends, friends and many more influences people to spend and when you know you made a mistake then you realize that trends and material things aren't worth it."
--Anonymous
"I totally heart Elizabeth 13, she is just like me except I buy all my clothes, not my mom and grandmom. I luv Juicy too. But my fave brand is True Religion. They rock:) I also luv Guess and Prada. I am not influenced by trends, I set trends. I can't believe that there r ppl out there that don't follow trends, it's just wrong. I mean how can you not. Style and popularity are everything, and if you don't know that then you r hopeless. Tootles."
--Hayden, 13
"Just small things like Tamagotchis or animal beads."
--Melannie
"Yes, I love the new technology and it says to me that I have to have it."
--Kalia
"I’Äôm usually not influenced to spend money on 'trendy' things, because most of the people I hang out with and admire have taught me that material things aren't everything and that fads will always come to pass. Most of my friends don't have hundreds of articles of clothing in their closets, and none of them are influenced to spend $200 on a pair of boots. My friends and I wear what we think is comfortable and expressive...It doesn't have to be from some gigantic designer corporation to be cool. However, I know that a lot of people are influenced to spend money on things by the people around them. My sister, who's 11 years old, seems to be in the 'popular crowd' in her class, and she's constantly nagging my mother to buy things...She has about eight designer bags, and one pair of designer boots, and all of her clothing is by designer brands. I think this is mainly due to the fact that her friends are all wearing this clothing and following these trends...You have to choose your friends wisely, because they'll influence you in more ways than you can tell."
--Anonymous, 13
"I don't think so. I pretty much save all my birthday-money (my parents make me) and save it for college or something. I only ask my parents to buy something for me if I really want it. I'm only influenced to buy stuff that are essential or necessary, I guess. Oh, but I like to save money to buy stuff from the craft-store 'cause I like to sew or make homemade purses for gifts or to sell. : )."
--Cassidy, 11
"PshhhhYEAH!!! I am influenced by, AHEM, what's in the store, rich kids at my school, and things that I think are absolutely AH-DORABLE (like Juicy Couture)!! And stuff that I see on TV. Yep...But I'm pretty good about not spending because my grandmother will buy me whatever my mom won't buy me! Lol!"
--Elizabeth, 13
"Yes and no. Sometimes I will buy something like, a cool shirt or an awesome pair of jeans because it's fashionable, but not too often. What I really want right now is a pair of Uggs, but they are VERY expensive."
--Matthew_hearts, 11
"I'm only influenced by what is in the store. Make sure u really need something becuz u shouldn't want something just ’Äòcuz your peeps or most people want or have it."
--Doglover2, 12
"I love to spend money on P'zones from Pizza Hut and on socks and underwear."
--Ella, 10
’ÄúNo. I am never influenced. I'll bet HannahMontana is.’Äù
--RoseGirl
"Have you ever had an Ipod? I got one today and I love it!!!!! If you have an Ipod tell me all about it and what kind it is and stuff."
--Megan, 9
"I saved up for an Ipod, and then when I bought it I was like CRAZY over buying stuff. I bought soda, lunch, candy, etc. Now I only have 3 cents. But I still love my Ipod."
--Katie
"I really want to get a tennis ball machine that costs 700 dollars! I want to get one so that I could practice. For me I think it's necessary."
--Winona, 12
"Every time I get money I just cant save it. I spend it on the same day. Help me."
--Shanell, 10
"Yes. All my clothes must be in. I spend my money on True Religion jeans and Juicy tops. But its actually not my money. Its my dads..."
--Hayden, 13
Money is a false human need that should have nothing to do with our personal life, family life, love life, etc.
--Madcow, 10
I agree completely to what Laura said. When we were kids we didn't care what we looked like. But now we take longer 2 get ready and now basically all of my wardrobe is Pac Sun, Zumiez, and Macys. And them populars, they WILL spend $200 on a pair of jeans at A&F without thinking. But I don't like AE and A&F. Theyre not my style.
--Holly, 12
I really wanted to buy Guitar Hero 3, but I went to Blockbuster and bought Madden 08. I regret that.
--Joe, 12
Yesssssssssss. I LOVE B5, so when I herd the had a new CD coming out I was trying to figure out what to save up so I could get it.
--Mariah, 13
Well, yeah, sometimes, but I try to save my money for important things and not waste it when there are people out there who have nothing.
--Laura, 12
Yes, I have...But I try to ignore it. I am 12, and going into 7th grade. And 6th and 7th grade is the grade where kids actually become mature (like not a little kid anymore) and they start to change the personalities completely!!! Like, their clothes. In younger grades (like 5th and below) they didn't care about it...Now all of a sudden they do!!!!! And the Populars" want the most expensive clothes ever!!
--Laura, 12
I like spending my money on like hair things, Webkinz, books, school things, things for my new bedroom, and things like that (well I am saving up for a new bed...). Well I am only 8, soon to be 9 like in less than a month. Why would I buy like my own food when my mom and dad can pay for stuff?
--Alyssa, 9
I just started getting allowance a year ago, and so when we go to the store, I always want to spend money! I see a lot of things on TV I want to buy. I also want to buy cool things my friends have. I am a money spender! Peace!
--CreamPuff, 10
For once, Miss Dor-EE is gonna keep things short. I am influenced to buy by TV, trends, my friends, and my two older sisters, Lana and Daniela. I mean - hello! - they're twenty and sixteen!!!
--Dorianna, 13
When me and dad go out to get me comic books, even I know the comic books are cheap, Ill go insane if I run out of money!
--Allister
Im not that good at saving money. Once I have it, I spend it. Like on hair stuff, accessories, and junk food...So you can call me a money spender.
--Lilly, 12
Im influenced by my mom who thinks: 1. If you want to buy something, make you need it or vice versa like don't get stuff you're going to get bored with easily. 2. If you're going to buy something look for something that's cheap but has good quality. 3. DO NOT BUY ON IMPULSE unless you're passing something and you go, Oh yeah! We're going to need that1" 4. Always save.
--Izzy, 13
I am influenced to spend my money on things by my friends and the TV. But I always make sure that I am only spending so much money, and saving my money alond the way...
--BusyGirl123
I buy things for my friends because they give me money to help pay for my things and they give me things too. So I return the favor; but I dont fall into money pressure : ].
--Anonymous, 12
I don't like the new trends. I think their stupid. I'd rather spend it on books.
--I love Jackie Tagg, 11
My motto is if I ain't got it Ill make it. I can miss out on fads if I want to. So HA! HA! HAAAAAA!
--Dragonflicka77, 11
Don't give in to what I call Money Pressure. That is, if your friends say to buy a game, when you need food.
--Sombero, 12
I only buy things I want or need. Just because the latest trends are those $200.00 jeans doesn't mean you need to buy it. The most expensive thing I NEED to buy is a hair dryer because mine isn't working and I usually have to wash my hair in the afternoon or at night and I can't sleep in wet hair or I'll get sicker than I already am...
--Chilean Girl Gery, 11
I would buy myself all the boxes of cheerios. Why, you ask? me say, me love cheerios. YEAH, oh jah!!!!!!!!!!!
--Anonymous, 13
CuteKitten, 12: It sounds good. Awesome choice.
--YogaGirl, 11
I buy things for my friends, like on their birthdays, or on the Dec. holidays. I do recognize brand names from the media, but I am pretty good about knowing what I want/need/will actually use. I have a budget!!!!!
--Veronique, 12
It depends on what the thing is. If it's a cool electronic or clothes, Ill probably be influenced.
--YogaGirl, 11
Ohhh yes. My friends said, Spend it on clothes. I knew I shouldn't. My parents are strict on wants and needs. I said, No.
--Raven, 9
Abigail (10) : Huh??? No, Im not a fan!!! I don't like that show!! I think you meant to say Courtney is a fan and she shouldn't listen to me!! : P brother...
--Hello, 12
When I get money I spend it right away.
--Christian, 12
Hello 12: Wow your a Fan too? dont listen to Courtney it rocks!
--Abigail, 10

--Cutekitten, 12
Yes, I have an older sister who has more clothes than they have at every store at every mall in the world put together!!
--You'll never know!!!, 10
No cause my mom does that stuff if she says do I need anything I would say, Oh ya its my friends birthday I need to get them a present, or I would say, Ya I need clothes for school.
--Vanessa, 11
Courtney (11) : GAHHH!!! How can you like that song??? I can't STAND it!!!! >: O >: O >: O I really don't get why people like that song, it's just a couple of high-pitched voices that make my ears fall off with terror!! : P Talk 2 u l8...
--Hello, 12
Well for one thing I love buying stuff, and I love money, and I love buying clothes and toys.
--Shelby, 8
Im new here how does my name sound?
--Cutekitten, 12
I love it (as far as money goes) at Christmas and my birthday, (I like my birthday and Christmas anyways, of course), but I usually get $100.00 dollars just from my Nona, (my grandma), and plus, then I have my birthday, a lot of times I get $100.00, plus. I love it!!!! : -).
--Cat Women, 10
Guys American stuff stins like all English dubbed anime like Naruto, which everyone who watches are babies compared those who have already watched every single episode and are now watching Naruto Shipuuden, hahahaha n00bs!!!
--Chris Who Pawns You, 12
Usually trends and my friends influence me on spending some of my money.
--Ashley, 9
HilaryDuff, 12: just use HilaryDuff as ur name.

EVERY TIME WHEN I GET MONEY FROM MY GRANDFATHER. I SPEND IT AT THE STORE.
--ONEIKA, 8
Well, Im not too influenced, except Im a big fan of The Naked Brothers Band...Im going to buy the DVD when it comes out. And, there's no way around it...Im going to have to buy the Nickelodeon KCA album to be able to listen to Crazy Car every morning on the way to school! Lol. Maybe I am influenced.
--Courtney, 11
This color hurts my eyes. P. S. The certain someone called QueenElizabeth101, 12, who stole my name, which used to be QueenElizabeth, 12, please make up another name!!! You are kinda confusing some people. Sorry.
--HilaryDuff, 12
I spend money on TV games, games etc.
--Leo, 8
Do y'all think I should get a new name? What about GodessofChaos or EvilKisser101 or CootiePrincess? PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESE TELL ME!
--HilaryDuff, 12
NNNOOOO!!!! I am a leader, not a follower so I dont buy stuff based on the latest trends or anything like that...I buy what I want to buy!!!!
--Anonymous, 12
Yes I do. My friend Julia's dad is in a mid life crisis. So he always buys things he doesnt need like now he has 5 cars and hes not even married! And Julia also has sooooo much nice clothes like lululemon and tna and name brand things! She is really cool and popular, but it makes me want to be like her and buy all that stuff like really nice clothes and a bunch of makeup!
--Kelly, 10
It depends on what it is.
--CuteGirl, 11
I want to save money on an ipod, but there are too much things I want. I usually save it on some school supplies, CDs (especially), books and magazines. FYI: I spend my money on less expensive things.
--Anonymous
I save my money to buy something good.
--Anonymous
Usually I spend money on things I need. For example: If I gave half of my clothes to goodwill, I'd buy more clothes for myself. But, I never spend it all.
--ZUNE Princess, 10
I get to buy whatever I want I have every video game system Im really cool.
--Billy
Soflybuttaflieshate (h8) its ok if u do it like that. I dont mind =).
--Americangirl

--Demetrius, 11
"To ppulsaver: I SOOOOOOO totally agree with u. Paris, plz stop bragging about all the stuff u have. I know that u wanna say 2 the world that u have a good life but dont nag it in plps faces becuz thats rude. I know that u probably didnt mean 2 hurt any1s feelings but u did. Thx. "SoFlyButtafliesHate, wasn't that guy Mickey K your friend? What happened to 'em?"
--LadyGurl
"Lori: Um, well TiredofHarryPotter was somewhere in Emotions. I forget where, but it was my fiendish little brother, who I promptly attacked, because he was doing it to annoy me. When I wrote that though, I was thinking about NoMoreHarryPotter."
--JS, 13
"ShiShi-Well I was close =)."
--Sillyputty, 99
"If anyone's looking for Tiredofharrypotter, that person was seen on Emotions: Prized Possession YSI board. Sorry if it doesn't help!"
--PopularGirl, 9
Is it just me but why is (almost) everybody talking about everything other then the real topic?
--HilaryDuff, 11
I have this CUTE CUTE CUTE CUTE top- its really long, cute collar, cute supa-short (sorta puffy sleeves) black and grey stripes- goes perfectly with this cute black belt I got and the first time I wore it everybody was like OMG! I LUV your top! " And when I told them I got it from Ross for $10, they were like Noooooooooooooooooooooooo way! ".
--HilaryDuff, 11
Lori: I don't know, all I can remember is the name and I think a blue background. It could have been where they showed up on that topic and JS was trying to defend our HarryPotter.
--LadyGurl
Lori: I know for sure that there was a TiredOfHarryPotter. But where I saw it wasn't TiredOfHarryPotter it was NoMoreHarryPotter that was on the blue background (which turned out to be on the I've Experienced Racism page).
--LadyGurl
MissMonkey-um, I think ur talking about Paris-I don't go to boarding school.
--Sillyputty, 99
I get 10 dollars in two weeks I try to save it but its hard this week I got my ears pierced.
--Emily, 11

--Americangirl
Americangirl: That's good that you get my name! And to everyone Im a girl.
--SoFlyButtafliesHate
JS: Where was TiredOfHarryPotter's posts? I remember like 1 1/2 years ago, when I came on here I saw posts by him/her, but I forgot where it was. What do you mean that you freaked out on them?
--Lori, 11
SillyPutty (Chocoholic) (10) : If your dad sends five of his kids to boarding school, do you go to a boarding school, or are you not one of the five? And now answering the topic question, no I usually don't even like the stuff from movies, hate the stuff from trends, and hate the stuff my friends wear even more...LOL, but really, why would I buy stuff I don't even like?
--MissMonkey, 11
LadyGurl: Where was the post at? I mean which topic?
--Lori, 11
SillyPutty, you are very close, the only thing you got wrong is that I have long chestnut brown hair.
--ShiShi, 10
Americangirl- about SoFlyButtafliesHate u know how butterflies fly (I hope u do) well that is what they mean. Fly means cool. She/he is saying that he is so fly the butterflies (who obviously fly a lot) hate this person bc of their fly-ness. Get it?
--Sillyputty

--Almost (Paris) famous, 10
SoFlyButtafliesHate ok I think I get it...actually thats really cool when u think about it!
--Americangirl
Silly putty, can I use silly putty for new alias?
--London, 10
Lori: Yeah, I remember TiredOfHarryPotter, largely because I freaked out on him/her.
--JS, 13
I need H-E-L-P!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
--Lauren, 8
Lori, I remember TiredOfHarryPotter. I read one of their posts before...
--LadyGurl
Lori Do u think Tiredofharrypotter meant he/she was tired of OUR HarryPotter or just the Harry Potter movie and all that stuff?
--Americangirl
No I am not okay.
--Ben, 8
Hey Americangirl, My screen name SoFlyButtafliesHate (or So fly butterflies hate) is like one of those jokes that are like Im so hot, the sun likes me" or Im so cool penguins hang around me" those types of things. And it's just saying that I am so fly (slang term for cool) butterflies (the insects) are hating on me. So in other words I am so cool butterflies don't like me. It's really hard to explain, but hopefully you get it.
--SoFlyButtafliesHate
Almostfamous are u Paris?
--Sillyputty
Umm yeah...Don't ask. (u know, my brother is the reason we have Silly putty stuck on the bathroom walls, that is why it's my name).
--Sillyputty, 10
Wow Silly Putty ever since I asked u how u picture me everyone else is doing it!
--Americangirl
Americangirl-rainbow? In my opinion, no-one is ugly. Shishi- black hair, nice tan. Brown eyes that are pretty. Popular girl at school. I think I will have everyone asking me to say how I picture them. I could make money off of this!!!
--Sillyputty
Needs always come first not things like candy and toys. You'll never regret it if you get your needs first.
--Tayler [a. K. A angel], 10
Americangirl: TiredOfHarryPotter was on here a long time ago, and they didn't stay for that long, and I don't even really remember them, but I do remember their name. Does anybody else remember TiredOfHarryPotter?
--Lori, 11
O yes
--Nunayorbiznis, 10
Solo sports.
--Chris, 8
No, I like to spend money on clothes. As long as I really like the item, why not? I shop at department stores and Old Navy and sometimes Charlotte Russe (My cousin works there). I never been to Hollister, but I have seen what the clothes look like because half the girls at my school wear the stuff! Plus is it my fault I can't go there because of what my parents say?
--Jhudora, 12
Yeh I forgive u Sillyputty.
--Almostfamous, 9
AlmostFamous of course I knew u would accept I just wanted 2 make sure!
--Americangirl
Im influenced if my pals online like a game...Should I get warhammer 40k: dark crusade?
--Ari, 9
Lori 11 Huh? who is tiredofharrypotter? I dont remember someone w/ that name. Also Soflybuttaflieshate I dont really get ur screen name what does it mean? Also I h8 2 disagree but I dont think Lori 11 brags but nvm.
--Americangirl
Sometimes. Sometimes my friends expect me to buy stuff 4 them. It gets annoying.
--Hannah Montana, 10
Yay! Im forgiven! =D Now let's have a fire ceremony Kumbiyah my lord. Yeah Im weird.
--Sillyputty, 10
I love Barbies, Polly Pockets, Kelly dolls, Bratz and My Scene, I nag my parents about it. I also love Staples, Limited Too, Aeropostale, Hollister and Abercrombie (I don't shop at Aeropostale, Abercrombie or Hollister, but I shop at Limited Too. ) I also like Neopets, and I want to subscribe to Neopets Magazine. My brother got to subscribe to Mad Magazine; but I couldn't to Neopets. PBS what are some good moneymaking tips?
--PopularGirl, 9
To Ppulsaver: I sooo totally agree with you. Just because your rich it doesnt mean that you have to say it to the world. I am not rich. I live in a tiny apartment and I dont get allowance. And I do like 10 chores everyday. And sorry if I hurt ur feelings.
--Skyler, 10
Dude. My addiction 2 IML has grown! I used 2 check my -mail the 1st thing I got on the computer, but now I go on IML 1st thing. But I don't get on much bc my sis is always on myspace. = (.
--Sillyputty, 10
IML-When I reply 2 someone's post, I always cut and paste their post in my reply, so ppl know what Im talking about. But whenever u post my reply, the other person's post is cut out! I thought I was bc it was 2 long, but I have shortened it 2 2-3 words, but the same thing still happens! y?
--Sillyputty, 10
Message from IML: Hi Sillyputty! (Love your new name!) We just do that because some people were getting confused; it was hard to tell where the first post ended and your reply began. We want to make sure people read your reply! If you just address your post to the persons name and age, that will make it clear who youre replying to!
Mickey K, it was M. K. Knowho but somehow it changed to know-how. So, now Im gonna change my screen name. Lori 11, that is right I don't think people should be mean to her and I do think she is telling the truth...But...I do think she is bragging a bit, but sometimes it is okay to brag a little (unless it makes someone feel bad). Bye.
--SoFlyButtafliesHate
My mom says that I make good decisions about buying items. I agree because it usually takes me 20 minutes to figure out if I really want that item.
--Nicole, 9
What did happen to Comicgirl? I haven't noticed, but she hasn't written in a long time. Also what happened to TiredOfHarrpotter?
--Lori, 11
Paris-I guess ur normal after all. Sooo sorry for treating u differently = ( (Im chocoholic).
--Sillyputty, 10
Video games I love them.
--Ari, 9
Of course I forgive her!! I was never mad at her or anybody else.
--Almostfamous, 9
Chocoholic (or now silly putty) ur forgiven! I hope Paris feels the same way. Do u forgive her Paris?
--Americangirl
What ever happened to Comicgirl? She was cool.
--Americangirl
I have a spending problem. I spend all my money/allowance on Pokemon stuff...
--Austin, 9
I wish that you guys would quit being mean to Paris. She is normal like every other person, she just has more money and does different things. She is not perfect, and probably runs into everyday problems just like any other average person, so I wish that you guys would stop accusing her of bragging, and stuff like that. Also I think you guys shouldn't say that Paris is lying, because if something good happened to you in life, and you went and told everybody and nobody believed you, how would you feel? Life is not perfect for anybody.
--Lori, 11
I dont know!! Maybe??!!?
--Taylor, 10
Americangirl good idea and I just subscribed to American Girl magazine its sooooo cool thanks.
--Almostfamous, 9
Oops I guess u ARE Paris 10! Sorry!
--Americangirl
SoCool, thanks, and I accept your apology. Ppulsaver thanks for trying to defend me! That's cool, Paris. My family donates to charities too. Oh yeah what's the CD called anywayz? B. T. W Is that really you M. K. Know- how? And M. K. Know-how, I thought you said know who with one w. Uh Im confused! ( I hate it when that happens). Well bye!
--Mickey K.
Sure! One day I let my younger sister Katrina use my money to go to Aeropostale with me. I used money to see Snakes on a Plane. I also went to dinner when I was younger (I can't tell you my age. ).
--Makayla
Everybody Im sorry I understand were your coming from with your argument but were all alike I have sibs I watch cartoons I read and I love animals but Im also different Im a child model a singer an actor and I go to boarding school which means Im a 9 almost 10 year old girl living away from my mom and dad Im very home sick but I do a lot for my community I donate clothes and toys I teach little kids to read and a lot of other things I realize I might of sounded like a jerk but I have feelings too and it kinda upsets me when people on this site say is your last name Hilton cause I dont believe u.
--Paris, 9
Miky K I was talkin bout Paris 9 but thanks anyway! Ur comment made me think...So sorry if I offended anyone! Especially u Ppulsave, Mikey K, and you Paris 9.
--SoCool, 10
Maybe sometimes.
--Americangirl
Hi. I dont have that much money so I have to save to buy something thats not even that expensive. I am now saving 4 a laptop cuz my computer is soooooooo slow and my mom and stepdad dont let me use theirs. So I would have to say no I am not influenced in material things (my best friend Dominique is though).
--Skyler (call me sky) , 10
Hey Paris 9 If people keep thinking u r Paris 10 (which u r not) u should pick a screen name for urself. Like I picked Americangirl cuz if I used my real name someone else might be on w/ the same name then peeps will get confused. So u said u do photo shoots and r even working on a CD y don't u put 'almost famous' for urself or if u r famous u could say 'moviestar' was ur name. Just a suggestion...
--Americangirl
Umm my friend Mickey K" if you must say, is not a boy she's a girl. Hi um...Uh...Mickey K it's me again but writing on my own computer this time! Bye!!
--M. K. Know-how
American girl and Paris-ur right. Im sorry. I didn't realize how mean I sounded. Am I forgiven?
--Chocoholic, 10
Sorry everybody my birthdays in a week so I was just getting used to writing 10 on my posts and thanks SOcool for calling me nice and on the my allowance page the Paris 10 the Paris 8 and me are three totally different Parises Micky K Im sorry and yes my family does donate to heifer international read to feed the Barbra Bush Childrens Hospital and animal shelters American girl my CD comes out on December 1 but my movie Little Miss Sunshines out right now and my dad made his money by making surfboards.
--Paris, 9
No no no NO! (Unless I have to. ) Sometimes but rarely I spend it.
--Marjorie
Thanks Ppulsaver but thats my bad bcuz I made a mistake. Mickey K was talking about Paris 10 And I was talking about Paris 9 who I thought wasn't bragging. Sorry Mickey. Mickey K Sorry but I made a mistake don't worry u didn't make me angry!
--SoCool, 10
No. Maybe I'll spend like 20-40 bucks on some new clothes at target or Wal-Mart, that's it. I usually get newer expensive clothes twice a year, so I save my money to buy cheaper ones in between.
--Slip-Slide022
SoCool, I can see why some people may not believe her. Because not everyone in the world is truthful and could be making up stuff to make other people feel bad. Like that other girl that confessed it all was just a joke. And for Mickey K's defense she was kinda bragging. A spending influence name the person tell them why, you don't need to get into all detail of where you shop at or how many rooms you have in a house or how much your family spends on JUNK. A lot of people are less fortunate and don't need to be reminded of the little money they have. Some of them can't even buy clothes to wear. That's how bad it is. Now I would expect an apology to her if this offends her and to me as well because that really hurts me to what people have been saying on here!
--Ppulsaver
SoCool, It may not seem like she's bragging to you, but not everyone tells the truth and not everyone thinks about if they are insulting someone. And also a lot of people lie and this is the Internet that we are on and anyone one here can be telling stories. And you can tell that she was bragging because she wanted to tell everyone what he used money on and how much it cost plus adding in where she shops so she can brag even more. This may be a bad time of the month to be writing this and when that happens I get super-angry and less nice that I usually am so sorry if you think I'm trying to get you mad cause I'm not...
--Mickey K
Chocoholic your right I could be lying but Im not lying Im as real as you or comiccgirl or anybody.
--Paris, 9
Chocoholic ur right but dont be like that. I mean u kinda of made me and my friends feel bad when u said 'get real' is kind of not so nice. But no offense...
--Americangirl
Mickey k Ok Im not sure about THAT Paris but the Paris I know (Paris 9) sounds the same but is different and really nice so Paris 9 he is not talking bout u I just thought I would get that clear before we started arguing about it.
--SoCool, 10
Oh yes. Definitely. I spend my money on magazines, books, clothes, and the occasional junk food. : ) .
--Karen, 11
Mickey k the Paris I know is actually 9 yrs old and she is not bragging. On allowance it asked what ur allowance is so she said $700-$200 (tax bills whatever) =about $500 she said that herself. I can believe it why cant some of u?
--SoCool, 10
Um, I don't really buy stuff.
--AuthorGirl, 8
Dear Hillary duff stinks. Ok maybe u should pick a new screen name cuz that is kinda mean. It's true that she doesn't really have a really good voice but it is still not nice. No offense...
--Americangirl, 12
Everyone posting about Paris- get real. I posted too but now I realized that this is Internet. She could be lying.
--Chocoholic, 10
I spend money on food and junk food.
--Babygirl, 10
Yeh I guess Im influenced by my dad hes a multi millionaire here r some of his stupid buys; reserving the Californian Disney world 4 a day 50,000 sending 5 of his kids to boarding school 9,000 dollars a year each. Private jet 7,000 dollars 25 room camp in Colorado 1,0000 7 Ipods 800 dollars. So I shop at GAP Ralph Lauren and Land's End... Paris, 10 Wow Paris. U don't know how lucky u are.
--Chocoholic, 10
Lip balm, nail polish, candy, I only get that stuff when I have the cash. Or else I am a smart spender. I have a fund that I put extra cash in. Like HarryPotter I have an older sis that goes 2 the cool stores so they're hand-me-downs.
--Chocoholic, 10
Paris (10) . Why is it that you have to brag about all the money you're family has? It could be hurting some of the less fortunate people in the world that are reading this stuff on this site's feelings. And no I am not trying to be mean to you. Sorry if it seems like I am. Do you or your family ever donate money to charities or even donate money to this site we're on right now. Does any one think we should donate money to this site that we love? Well I guess that's all. Paris write back to me ASAP.
--Mickey K
WOW! Paris how did ur dad even become a multi millionaire??? Also on some other comment it said u have a CD called Motion. When is it coming out? I would like 2 hear u sing!
--Americangirl, 12
I will spend my money on games and nobody will get any.
--Eduardo, 07
No. Why would I buy stuff just because my friends like it?
--Hillary Duff Stinks
OMG! Hillary Duff Stinks, Its so true! She does stink. It was so sad when she came to my city and (Im in grade 9) a bunch of people at school were wearing concert shirts!
--Brie
Ice cream, a rollercoaster, and a big big house!!!
--123, 9
I have a LOT of money! (In my bank. ) I never spend it, though. I just collect it.
--Courtney, 10
Not really. Only if I really, really, really want it then maybe but I really like to spend sometimes so my mom tries to get me to save.
--Neheah
Hippie on a bike I have heard of that movie!!!
--Americangirl, 12
Hey Nathan I have a bb gun.
--Lisa, 12
Yeh I guess Im influenced by my dad hes a multi millionaire here r some of his stupid buys; reserving the Californian Disney world 4 a day 50,000 sending 5 of his kids to boarding school 9,000 dollars a year each. Private jet 7,000 dollars 25 room camp in Colorado 1,0000 7 ipods 800 dollars. So I shop at GAP Ralph Lauren and Land's End...
--Paris, 10
I spent money junk food. Friend. Ice cream, chip.
--Shermaine, 13
I dont watch A LOT of television...Most of it is like cops or somethin...I DO NOT follow trends...I do my own thing...And I am not influenced to spend money on things by my friends...The only place I go a little overboard withmoney is hot topic...I love ADELINE STREET clothing!!!!
--Miss Green Day, 12
Hello. I am so influenced, but I know it's materialistic so I try to hold back.
--Erin, 11
No because I work hard for my money and only spend it on important things.
--Meghan, 11
Yes I am influenced...Especially with shoes...But what makes brand name shoes like DC or Cica etc better then some no name shoes you can get from Wal-Mart?? Ca.
--Kayla, 12
Yes.
--Amanda, 11
I think everyone is influenced to spend money on things by trends, friends, etc. Sometimes. Personally, I only play e rated video games so Im not really influenced by stuff like that.
--Rachel, 12
Yes I like to spend money on Perfume and Body Spray and Lip Gloss to I am getting a well I really want to get a Eye Liner though but I can't because Im 11 now and my Sister is 16 She has one Im doing like some Makeup today I found some in J14 Magazines so Yesterday Im like can We do it tomorrow and Shes like Yes We can do it tomorrow that was yesterday I asked her.
--Amanda, 11
Yes I like to spend money on Lip gloss and Lipstick Body Spray Perfume I already have my Sisters Hairspray and Eye Makeup Remover and Bras and Shirts and Skirts and Flip Flops and Sunglasses and thats all I can think of thats all.
--Amanda, 11
Not that much. But when I see a celeb wearing something cute it makes me think how cute it would look on me...
--Denise, 11
I am influenced by my friends to buy clothes from Limited Too. I like that store but it is really expensive. I love to shop at Target, Sears, Khols, Old Navy, and of coarse WAL-MART!!! But none of those stores are cool enough. I think following trends you like is great but stuff you dont like there is no point of following it. I would spend money on clothes before any body influenced me too. But now going to middle school is going to be different and more people trying to tell me what to do!!!!!!
--Alisha, 11
I buy something if gamespot. Com rates it good!......Will okay my mom buys it............
--Ari, 9
I did buy something from a commercial when I was five, but not since then. I am a trend setter, not a trend follower.
--Katherine, 12
No not really, except when I'll be window shopping and my friends say the clothes look good on me. Then I'll see if I have enough money to buy ONE of the items.
--Star
I sometimes am. I see cool stuff on TV, by magazines, friends. Etc. But I dont try to go crazy or anything.
--Britt
Yes-I bought 10 STAR WARS toys! I love them!
--Matthew, 12
Well...THERE IS THIS GROOVY MOVIE (It rhymes!) CALLED 'RUSHMORE" WHICH YOU GUYS PROBABLY NEVER HEARD OF. IT MAKES ME WANNNA BUY A KITE!
--HIPPIE ON A BIKE!, 13
Don't be stupid, of course not! Ads are annoying, movies are mostly laughable (if slightly entertaining) , fashion/trends are getting wackier and wackier, and my friends aren't materialistic either - with the exception of books. I listen to bands not many people have heard of (save Green Day and Goo Goo Dolls), wear what I want not what magazines or adds tell me to, and I don't care. I think it's pretty lame to just let yourself be swept along by the mass media. Remember, only dead fish go with the flow.
--Charlotte
I am not influenced in TV movies or friends. I only own 1 video game and I barely play it. I get my clothes in bargain stores and I bet I only have like 2 brand-name clothing. (who cares) . Im much more into animals and reading...
--Melissa, 9
Not really...I don't think at least. I don't have most of the stuff they advertise on T. V. Like video games for a Game Boy or a PS2. I have a PS1 though...: ) .
--Amanda
I buy stuff...I think I NEED it and two days later I forgot I had it.
--Pens&Pencils
Most of the In" stuff is ugly and I hate it. My style is comfy. I wear stuff that was Out" 9 months ago!
--BookWorm
Ya I would if I had any money I wish I was able 2 get allowance from my parents ut they say; what would you be able 2 do with all that money you would get and I told then I would go shopping with my friends and get some things I needed but they said I wasn't allowed.
--May, 12
I used to...I bought an Artemis Fowl book because of a commercial. Now, Im Uninfluenced".
--Stephan, 9
I have to REALLY like the thing I don't buy it just because somebody I admire or cool has it. I come close sometimes but I stop myself and say that I am not in love with having that certain thing but I am in love with owning something that persons owns...
--Taylor
Everyone was buying LipSmackers and I didn't have the money so I asked one of my friends to buy one for me and then I barely had the money to pay her back and all the lipsmacker did was make me itchy. That was a waste of money.
--Kimberly, 11
NO! I get what I want, and don't care what you do!
--Amelia, 12
I am very influenced to spend my money especially by my friends!
--Kaitlin, 13
Depends on what it is! If its something you think is really cool its not so bad but if you think its cool because someone else has it I wouldnt call that just influence but jealousy!!!!
--Taylor, 11
Yes, I wanted to save up a lot of money for a thing I saw on TV.
--Karlie, 10
Yeah every kid is because of the TV. On TV ads the always try to make things sound cooler than they really are. Believe me I've bought and returned things tons of times because of watching fake TV ads. P. S don't buy Foam" or Bubbleishous bursts" they do not work at all!
--Catherine, 11
Well yes and no. Yes b/c I love movie, video games. Shirts that say stuff/ I work so I have my own bank account and ATM card so I can get money out when ever I need it. And no b/c I am saving my money for a new skateboard so it's kind of in between.
--Caitlin
Well not by TV web and anything else, except my friends every once in a while they will have something that I want but I SOMTIMES by it...But not much....
--rems87, 11
That's not very nice Comicgirl.
--Hannah, 8
No I buy what I want like ducks ( yes real ducks ) .
--Mona, 11
Yes I am very tempted to buy into trends like designer clothing. And I like buying DVDs that just came out and buying anything that came out from the brand called the Sims. And I always have the latest cell phone I am begging my parents for the world's smallest flip camera phone. I can be a bit of a spender. Do you think so???
--Nesha, 12
Nope, I have my own, cool style.
--00FOX, 11
I usually spend my money on a drink called VAULT or video games. But when we are short on cash I lend my money to my mom.
--Michael, 11
Not really.
--rex, 12
My dad wont let spend my money on a bb gun.
--Nathan, 11
I like to spending money. Mostly the time I put in my Account bank my sister's bank. I got over $100 in my bank account. Now I only have $24.00. I just saving my money...
--Emily
"*blocks ears* I've forgotten what I was going to say because next door is playing stupid music LOUDLY. SHUT UP!!!
--ComicGirl, 12
Harry Potter video games can help people.
--Anonymous
I like to spend my money on my bank account!
--Moiona, 9
Well, as I don't play video games, rather computer games, and I don't have a Game Boy advance, or PSP, I think that I save a whole lot of money, although sometimes I tend to drop about 100$ on a few Sims games (I have an obsession for the Sims!!!). Anyhow, I am totally fine without PSP's and other gadgets like that. I DO have an Ipod Nano, but I got it for my birthday. I like to spend my money more on clothes, I have a HUGE wardrobe, but that usually makes me ending up broke, since I always go on shopping sprees!!! Sometimes I like to follow trends, and I always go shopping at AE, Garage, Sirens and places like that because I lean more towards brand names rather than thrift stores...
--Caitlin, 11
Yup. But I tell myself that theres a nice sweater tha I NEED for winter thats right around the corner.
--Esther, 12
I need an account.
--Tevin, 10
Grrr... Euro signs don't work here, so I'll just have to use Es. As in, E5. Before I just used $, but that's a bit confusing!
--ComicGirl, 12
I am influenced by my father a rich man that follows money everywhere. My allowance is 50.00 a week but I donate 30.00 every week to charity and my dad also puts 300 in my bank account and 1000 dollars in my college fund a month. My dad is not a good influence on me and lets my 7-year-old sister Lindsey send 200.00 on gummy bears and she is also always bouncing of the wall.
--Kailyn, 10
I don't follow trends. If it's clothes I go by my own trend. I usually follow my trend of comfy and wearable. I have to admit I like shopping at American Eagle, Abercrombie and Fitch and Hollister, but I don't go by what is hot and what is not hot. I usually shop by what I like. I usually buy what was in style 9 months ago or clearance sometimes. Trends come and go and change from one day to the next but who you are never changes! Be yourself and don't get into the trend or fads!
--Anny, 13
Of course, everyone is, right? Trick is not to succumb to it.
--ComicGirl, 12
No, I'm not influenced, but I totally LOVE clothes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
--Kristin, 11
No, I do what I want and I spend money on what I want. Whoever is dumb enough to spend money on anyone's other opinions should totally get a brain!
--Carol, 13
A lot of people here say that they buy a lot of video games. So that means that I save a BUNCH of money each year, because I don't have any video games (no, not even a Gameboy advance). I know what you're thinking; Oh, god! How do you survive! Well, I am fine without video games (Don't tell me: Gasp! What a nutcase!). Well, I am not a nutcase (and while Im at it, Im not a basket case either!). NO OFFENSE TO ALL VIDEO GAME OWNERS, but video games distract you from things that really matter (and NO OFFENSE again, but they make you kinda, 'woohoo'). Sorry to all of ya'll if I offended you.
--HarryPotter, 12
Well, hmm...Ive loved video games all my life, and I play about 4-5 hours a day, and still maintain that balance to spend time with family and my friends; and it's not a distraction. I spend $250 dollars a year in video games, not much on DVDS because I borrow them from my friends and burn it into my hard drive, and all of them are boring. Id rather play a video game because it's more interactive and you can control your characters. So I save right there and still have money to save for the future. Oh and by the way Harry, everyone has gamer addicts that considers gaming as an art form just like films, and books. You seem to stereotype them, which offended me a little, just a little bit; but Im not going to pull your hair. But if you call us losers, then I might do it. Im just kidding :).
--Randy the gamer
Lots of people r influenced 2 buy stuff that u don't really need bcuz of advertisements. Like if u buy this ur gonna be the coolest kid in the world! Try ur best not 2 notice them but theres always shopping for clothes! U need those!
--Esther, 12
No. I do not strain under peer pressure.
--Konton no Tenshi, 12
"I always spend all my money whenever I get the chance!!"
--Mohammad, 11
"Now that I have an Ipod, I'll be buying music. But I also want a hairdryer, and some beauty stuff. It'll take me 7 weeks to get the money. Im influenced to get the hairdryer + beauty stuff 'cause of my friends. Music is influenced byME! The only person who you should let influence you isYOU!"
--ComicGirl, 12
"I don't spend a lot of money buying clothes because my older sister shops at stores like Abercrombie and American Eagle and Hollister a lot, so I get the cool clothes as hand-me-downs. So, I've got A LLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOT of clothes."
--HarryPotter, 12
"One time I was going shopping with my aunt and my mom gave me her credit card to get some stuff for school. Wel I told my aunt that I was allowed to get anything I wanted so I went and bought too much stuff and it came up to like $300. And my aunt was like, No I dont think your mom wanted you to get all that stuff. So she called my mom and I had to cash in everything that I bought and get the money back. And I was grounded for like a month."
--Felicia, 12
"I try to buy whatever is new."
--Anonymous, 13
"I just realized something. You know how cliquey, popular girls may see something that was 'in' a year ago and say, Like, aw-mah-Gawd, that is, like, so last year? Well, it is pretty much pointless to follow trends, especially clothing trends, if they're probably going to become 'out' the next year. There goes at least a hundred bucks down the drain of what's in and what's out."
--Phoenix, 11
"I save half of my money. The other half goes towhatever I want! But, I usually go for the cheaper stuff."
--Ashley, 13
"Mostly I am not. Every once in a while I'll see something interesting that I would like. I never am influenced by food advertising."
--Tayler, 11
"Well I spend my money on anything I want to, so if they go do something that looks fun, I do it too. Im not influenced by it, its just what I like to do. I spend most of it on clothes, which I buy and then grow bored with faster than most people. Its hard. But I live through it. :]."
--ShortStuff132, 13
"Yes, I can spend on summer no-sleeve clothes, like a pink no-sleeve shirt and even a purple shirt, too."
--Amanda, 11
"Not really. Im pretty good at knowing if something is a good product and to buy it or not."
--Briana, 13
"I think kids should learn how to spend money with care and respect."
--Steven, 21
"Don't buy the stuff that you do not want."
--Eliot, 8
"Well first I would put most of it in my bank account, and the rest I would spend on something I would need."
--Anonymous
"It's weird for my age, but Im really picky about spending money. Actually, indecisive is the better word (or undecided). I always find something I like, but then I do a double take and think Wait. What if I don't use it? What if it turns out to be a waste? It's really frustrating, because sometimes I convince myself not to get anything I want! "
--Vanessa, 12
"My mom and dad say I cant buy an Ipod but I really want one. They say I need to save. But its my money you know."
--Bling, 11
"Yes I could spend it on DVDs like The Chronicles of Narnia the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe and like Ice Princess too. I would spend on other DVDs too, like The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and like Freaky Friday too."
--Amanda, 11
"I tend to spend all my money as well. I will usually go and spend tons of money on clothes, take friends out to eat and to the movies, and on top of that I fully support my mother. Once she gets out of school it will be a little bit better. But I just don't know how to keep a little bit of money in my pocket. Its so hard to do."
--JrStanger05, 13
"I hate trends, fashion and everything that comes with it. My friends don't even bother trying to influence me anymore. So, no."
--PunkRocker
"My parents say that I need to save but I want an Ipod really bad."
--Stiralet, 13
"I spend ma money on clothes, make-up and of course ma hair (need to impress the guys)."
--Abbie
"I spend my money on clothes, candy and rental DVDs. Violet, Cindy and me try to meet at one of our apartments to watch a movie every Saturday. Last week we watched Walk The Line and were trying to convince our parents to let us watch North Country because Violets mom can skip some parts."
--Abby, 12
"I tend to spend all the money I get right away!"
--Courtney, 11
"Oh, u all!! I just start saving when I m 2. Now I have xxxxx (xxxxx=$10000or up). Just do what I say now, I dont care what age u r. Now Im just 10 years old. Hey u all, can you give me an idea to let my mother not spend so much money?? Cuz my mother ikes to shop, thx."

"Whenever I see a movie or TV show and I really like it, I usually get the music they put out! So, yeah!"
--Dream2sing, 11
"Well, my mom always makes feel like what Im getting is wrong."
--Anonymous, 15
"Yeah, I like to spend it on fashion trends, jewelry...basically anything. But right now Im saving up for a tracfone."
--Brianna, 10
"Yeah if I had like $1.00 or $1.50 from my mom or from my dad or from my sister, I can spend my money on a lot of movies I want for my birthday on March 7th. When my birthday comes up I am buying my favorite movie The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and even Sleepover."
--Amanda, 10
"Yeah, especially computer games. But I only buy the cheaper stuff that I want, then save the rest of my money."
--Anna, 11
"A lot of people here say that they buy a lot of video games. Sorry to all of ya'll if I offended you."
--HarryPotter, 12
"I always wanted this and that, but I don't stop spending. Finally I was able to buy an Ipod Nano:)."
--Denise, 12
"Unlike HarryPotter, 11, I think that trends are trends, but the whole Livestrong bracelets aren't. They raise money for cancer!"
--Jenny, 10
"Eh, it depends. I've got an iPod, a livestrong bracelet, and a pair of pants from a store all my friends go to, but I don't follow trends. For example, if I see some kind of celeb wearing something really cool, Im still not going to buy it. I have my own style, and Im renowned in my school for being weird."
--Phoenix, 11
"No, I am not. And I am proud of that. I make ONE DOLLAR an hour babysitting. Sooooo I have to do 400 HOURS of it to be able to buy this fender guitar I really NEED (If I am gonna get better). THE PEOPLE WHO SAY THEY MAKE LIKE 10 DOLLARS FOR ALLOWANCE AND IT IS NOT ENOUGH MAKE ME SICK!!!!"
--Tasha, 11
"Im not influenced by that stuff. I usually only buy video games. My parents buy everything I need. I buy everything I WANT. LOL!"
--Jenny, 10
"Well I spend my money on things that are not that important most of the time. I spend it on important stuff but I get in trouble when I try and spend my money on real and important things. But I have to get the new and in-style stuff."
--Unjanae, 13
"For the first time I bought my own candy, and it cost $15.00."
--Jordan, 10
"Yes, because I am a big brand fanatic. I will buy something for the brand (but only if I really like it), even if it is expensive. I don't usually buy expensive makeup or hair care products, unless they are on sale (and a good deal). I will buy something of the brand featured in a magazine or TV."
--Victoria, 12
"The people in my town and at my school are all rich. The town my schools in is Forbe's most expensive real estate, so everyones rich. So Im influenced to wear designer jeans, Juicy jackets, and Uggs. I'll probably feel bad when I see my classmates driving Mercedes Benzes and BMWs, but yeah, it stinks sometimes. But yet I love all those things."
--Anonymous, 13
"I have only fallen into two trends: live strong bracelets, and gaucho pants. But only because I really thought they were cool, and that I would wear them for a long time after I bought them."
--HarryPotter, 11
"The one rule in money is never use your own, unless like, you get an allwance. Then save one-fourth of your allowance until you have enough for what you want. But, other than that, never use your own money."
--Lydia, 10
"Nah. I am TOTALLY different from my friends. E. G. my best friend is a nerd and Im a mosher/rocker! And I especially wear different clothes from everyone else. I don't try to be different, I just am."
--Helen, 11
"Heather, I really think you need to take a reality check. I think you should learn to be smart with money, cos what'll happen when mum won't pay your bills anymore????"
--Anonymous
"Yes, sometimes it is easy to fall into trends and things like that. I might buy something without really thinking about it first because its a new 'fad,' but then after I realize what a bad choice it was. Sometimes it is hard to ignore new trends but you should always think it over first."
--Briana, 12
"Hilee (10): Think about what you're going to buy before you buy it. Let's say your gym shoes are totally falling apart. You have to spend money on new shoes, right? But if all of a sudden you see a pair of jeans that are on sale, and you don't even have any desire for new jeans before this, you just wanted it because it's on sale, that's not smart spending. To put it simply: Never buy anything without thinking hard about it."
--Kiera, 9
"No, but advertisements can be catchy. I just buy what calls my name (metaphorically speaking). I love to shop. Im a shopaholic!!!"
--Erin, 11
"Totally! I mean, people see somebody wearing one thing that you REALLY just love and you just HAVE to have it. TV makes cool gadgets really interesting and makes you want them. Same thing with the internet!!"
--Kendra, 12
"I used to when I was little. Now that Im older I know it's just a phase and it will blow over soon. I go by this saying: Dare to be different. Instead of following trends I try to start them!"
--Kelli, 12
"I have a problem. I like to spend money, not earn it. I spend about $20.00 and more a day. Can you give me some advice to not spend so much?"
--Hilee, 10
"My mom and I have more money than anyone we know so spending it doesn't affect us too much. I love going shopping every week and it doesn't matter whether the items are on sale or not. If I like something, I get it. If it's something really nice, mom says I have to earn it by doing my chores and being good. It's usually not a problem. The problem is that my friends always want me to give them money just because Im basically rich. I don't think that's fair. My mom earned that money! Not them!"
--Heather
"I am not allowed to shop until I am in 6-9th grade."
--Jonathan, 10
"Yes, because I like to shop, go out with my friends and have good times making memories."
--Laura
"Put it in something that u cant open. Then wait until its full. Then crack it open."
--Reah, 11
"I don't have to buy anything I don't want to. My parents are very, very nice to me. I don't mean to brag or anything but I thinnk they are the best parents a kid could ever have. I LOVE my mom and my dad."
--Samantha, 8
"Probably spending some of it and putting some in the bank."
--Kelsey, 12
"Movies, some of them make you want things just cuz peeps in the movie have the thing. It stinks. And my little bro, when he sees something in a TV ad, he automatically wants it. It's PATHETIC!"
--QueenKitten
"I sometimes get influenced to buy the things that I see in commercials or in movies. Not all the time though:)."
--Ana
"Sometimes I'll go up to someone and say, Ohhh, I like your shoes/shirt/bracelet/etc. Where did you get it? But otherwise, no. Im not even a trendsetter. I just wear what I want to, and sometimes it's cool, and sometimes it's not."
--Kiera, 9
"No way! I buy only whatever I like. I don't get an allowance and if I want something my parents have to approve. And if they say yes they will buy it for me."
--India, 11
"I love to shop and spend money with my friend and my older sister Leah at the mall."
--Naomi
"If your parents give you money, like for example at Peter Piper Pizza to get tokens, save it. Thats money for like field trip money or some money when youre a teen, and whenever your parents have no money to let you go shopping, youll have money of your own. And maybe you could have more money than your parents make."
--Rochelle, 11
"I dont even shop, and my mom doesnt believe in giving allowances, so I wear what she buys me, and it usually is fashionable. And I get hand-me-downs from a really popular girl, so I still keep up with the time and fashion, and so the time, I didnt spend a thing. So, 2 answer the question, no."
--Someoneoutthere, 10
"Lauren---I totally agree!!!!! Besides, Hilary Duff probably didn't pay for her shoes. She probably got them freeunlike us little people!:)."
--ComicGirl, 11
"Trends are stupid, but sometimes I feel I have to have them :( I spent $2 a few months ago on a trend I didn't really like -- the wristband trend! And now, it's gone out of fashion and only saddos wear 'em. Im sure I could have found a better use for that $2...!"
--ComicGirl, 11
"No, not really. I plan to save my money for college and a car. But sometimes I spend my money on really cool things, like going to the movies or a book or jewelry."
--Anita
"I am tempted to buy more than the person I am shopping with, either my mom, dad, relatives, or friends. Friends mostly influence me to buy an item. My friend, Jocelyn, says, Go Skylar, shop it up!! and it boosts my confidence in shopping."
--Skylar, 13
"I try not to get into trends. They're stupid once the trend has gone out of fashion, it's wasted money. I just buy things I WANT. And if I really like a trend, then, sure, I'll get it. Right now Im saving up for a virtual pet---and not just because everyone has them, but because I want one. Right now Im trying to get the cheapest one possible I get lots of comics---everyone says Im weird, and that they're not meant for girls. This doesn't stop me! So, Im not really into trends at all."
--Anonymous, 11
"No. I am influenced by what I like. If I see a shirt that I like, I buy it. If there's a CD that I really want (in a true way), I'll buy it. So I just buy what I like. Except the stuff I like is the latest trends. Like I want a pair of gauchos, and I got a bolero, and a maxi skirt. Those are hot right now!"
--Livigirl, 12
"The only thing that could influence me to buy something is a friend. I refuse to be a mindless drone following the worthless trends, unless there is a good reason. I refuse to buy a $60 pair of shoes because Hilary Duff wore them down the runway from her last movie premiere. That's a great reason for the mindless drones (a.k.a. fashion gurus) at my school, but not good enough for me. If my friend buys it and I like it, Ill get it."
--Lauren
"I have a problem with spending all my money on candy and chips. I cant save anything."
--Keesha
"Yeah, sometimes I am, but usually I just do what I want, whether it's cool or not."
--Lissa
"I don't spend much money on things, but I like going out with friends and that costs money."
--Caitlin, 11
"I buy books, CDs, movies, magazinesanything I like."
--Kaylee, 12
"I spend my money on resources, and to get the new cool electronics."
--Fernando, 11
"Yes, my mom and dad have always taught me to save money, not spend it!"
--Shelby, 10
"I spend my money on different things @ the mall!!!!!!"
--Carley, 9
"I only buy stuff I need or want. Dont pressure yourself about what others have, just buy what you want or need."
--Mike
"OMG!!! I buy anything I want because I have my own money. Sometimes my mom might buy me something but I usually buy CHANEL, GUCCI, LOUIS VUITTON, just about anything you see a celebrity wear. Keep in mind I am not a trendy person, I just have expensive taste in everything I buy!!"
--Ursella, 13
"You really ca't help but to want to buy things whenever you see that everybody else has it. It makes you feel a little pressured because you feel you need to have it in order to fit in. But you've got to tell yourself, Do I really, really need this, or is this just some fad?"
--Tara, 13
"Sometimes, but not often. I only pay attention if the toy is cheap & it looks fun."
--Beth, 11
"I am totally immune to TV ads, but if a friend is wearing something that I think is cool I might want to buy it. \."
--Kiera, 9
"No. I only buy what I really need. I save my money. I just ask myself: Do I really need this? Why do I want this? Would I be better off saving my money or buying something else?"
--Debra, 11
"Not really. I don't like buying something so I can look like someone else."
--Leah, 13
"Not really, I mean like, once in a long period of time I will get something, but it's normal. I don't follow in the celebrities though. My friends and I follow each other and also lead. I get what I like and what I want, not what other people like and have."
--Anonymous
"Im influenced on spending my money on trends, clothes, movies, and hot Cheetos."
--Jessica, 12
"Im gonna keep it real. YES!!! I am a lot! I see a cool somthin' on TV and I wanna buy it. I wanna own most of the new Star Wars merchandise! Most kids ages 3 to 16 do it. Kids in America think they can buy anything they want. Not expecting no. If I had a twin sister which I want, if she would wear a Pistons tee, cap, and jeans, so would I! I sometimes get stuff and dress to fit other people's tastes. Don't feel bad if you do, Sarah. Believe me, youre not the only person! And if you don't, hey, I don't do it all the time! But let me tell you. Don't change who you are to fit in. I've tried it. Most of the time it won't work out. Be yourself. That will work 100% better in the long run."
--Brett, 11
"To be honest, no. I really don't care about what everyone else buys."
--MissYori
"No but people are influenced by me, because I am the most popular in the grade."
--Maris, 12
"Once, everyone at my school started wearing these bracelets. They were in style. But I didnt want one cause I like to be different. But then I bought this really cool necklace and now everyone is buying them!"
--Someone, 12
"Im going to be honest. I am. If Gwen Stefani wears it, the next day I'll probably be wearing a similar style. I love her taste."
--Ashlee, 13
"No, not usually. I think infomercials are evil and their creator should be shot. Jes kiddin-bout the shooting part. When I buy something, I buy it b/c I like it, not b/c some movie star or my best friend has it. I hate brand names. They're expensive and they totally conform you w/ everyone else. Or things with movie stars faces on them. How tacky. I mean, like a band name on a sweatshirt is real kool, but faces on clothes? No thanx."
--Lauren
"If I see something I like, I never buy it unless its on sale. Or I beg my mom to get it!"
--Cassandra, 9
"Totally! If everyones talking about the coolest movie that I want too, I spend my money on it!"
--Megan, 9
"Sometimes. Like one time, I saw in this magazine these really cool shoes, but they're $150! And I saw a purse that was over $1,000! The purse didn't really look worth that much, though. But all my friends have these bracelets and I wanted some, so I went 6 and 1 half months of the trend without some before I got some."
--Martha, 10
"I like to spend money on clothes."
--Laisa, 10
"Sometimes, but not really. Because if I follow what other people do, then I shouldn't be named Melanie. I should be named Everyone, because if you follow what everyone says then you aren't being the person you are. And that's makes you special- being you and following you."
--Melanie, 13
"Yes, but this DOES NOT mention spending. Val looks for change, and because of her, I do to!"
--Jenny, 8
"Well, at camp last summer we had these Backard Sports games. I loved those games sooooooooooooooooooooo much I wanted to get them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
--Jenny, 8
"I think Im influenced to spend my money by media. My friends all have their own styles. I like my iPod, my clothes, my computer, my TV, and my camera. I like them cuz I bought them by myself and I dont need anyone to tell me what to buy."
--Alysan, 10
"Well, if my friend has something I love, I might get it in a different color, or I might buy something I see on TV, but I don't feel like I have to buy anything."
--Becky, 13
"Um, only if it was an Evanescence related item. Other than that, NO!"
--Nahry, 10
"My mom influences me to look at the prices before buying anything."
--Sarah
"No!! I don't even believe those ads. There always is a lot of money for shipping and handling if the product is cheap, or there is always a catch, especially on the computer."
--Riddhi, 10
"Yes, when I was younger, my friends said how much money they had and I wanted to have more money than them. Im grown out of it now."
--Robert, 11
"I am not that influenced."
--Jeremy, 11
"Um, my aunt and uncle just got Dance Dance Revolutions and I so want it and need it (along with an Ipod, a computer, and stuff like that!!!). LOL."
--Kandy, 11
"Not really. I'll look around for stuff that I would like without the media shoving it in my face 24/7."
--Maya, 13
"If everyone was the same, then would life be worth living?"
--Sam, 13
"No, I think that you should not, because that is a waste of money, and you could see something that you really liked, and thought (SAMPLE), Oh. I spent 3 dollars on Britney, 12 dollars on Austin, and 43 dollars for Mom's birthday. You just use your money on important things, not for other people."
--Jennifer
"Yes, I spend a little bit on movies, games, and skateboard clothes, and shoes, and a new skateboard. I spend a lot of money on my girlfriend, giving her jewelry, stuffed animals, and taking her to the movies."
--Russell, 13
"A lot, yes. When I was little I always wanted the junk on commercials, and when I got it, it didn't work. And trend is the biggest thing on buying stuff. It's so annoying!"
--Lindsay, 10
"I don't really get that MUCH influenced, but in my school, THEY SOOOOOOOOOO DOOOOOOOO it!!!! I prefer my own style!"
--Ayesha, 10
"I can't stop buying shoes."
--Manisha, 11
"Yeah, wellsometimes. I don't spend money by friends though. I spend it on trends (sometimes when I can), movies, jewelry, etc."
--Lili, 10
"Sometimes I see something really cool that is being advertised, or one of my friends has it. Once in a while I will bend over backwards to get it, and sometimes I realize that the item is not really that great."
--Rachel, 10
"NO!!! I don't pay any attention to TV commercials, and I don't care what other people buy. I'll only buy something if I actually want or need it, not because everyone else is."
--MissYori
"No, but I do have friends. Me and my family buy movies and clothes and other stuff too."
--Carly, 11
"Sometimes, but most of the time I try to save up until I can get something I really want, even if it may be out. But really Im more of a leader to the crowd, not a follower. you could say I start trends, not buy them."
--Dolly, 11
"Well kinda, but mostly I buy stuff cause I think its cool. Fight da stinking power. Peace."
--Turtle, 10
"Influenced is not the word I'd use. Sometimes if I see something I like, I may want to buy it. How else do you start buying things? You hear about it, right? If the thing looks cool, I will want to buy it, yes."
--Amanda, 13
