Tough Crush Canyon
You and Luke have been friends for a long time, and the fact that you both like Susie could mean trouble. You decide it’s best to talk things over, so, once the other guys are settled into the cabin, you ask Luke to join you out behind the horse stables.

“So, when exactly did you start liking Susie?” you say.

“Ever since the Lonestar Day picnic last year,” he says. “I’ve wanted to tell her I like her, but it’s easier for me to crack a joke than talk to a girl. I’ve been planning on asking her to the Rodeo Dance ever since we signed up for Rangers Camp.”

You think about it: you’ve only been crushing on Susie for a few months, but Luke has liked her for over a year. As much as it will hurt, you decide you’ve got to do the right thing.

“I’ll back off, “ you say. “You can ask Susie to the dance, and I won’t interfere.”

Luke smiles, and you feel a strange mix of emotions. It hurts knowing that you won’t be going to the dance with Susie, but it feels good knowing you’ll stay friends with Luke.
