You’ve just fallen on your butt in front of your crush, and she’s laughing about it! You feel your face getting red, and your embarrassment quickly turns to anger.
“Hey, it’s not funny!” you yell. “What if I’d been hurt?” You toss a rock into the canyon to show how mad you are.
“Calm down, cowboy,” says Susie, who is suddenly not laughing anymore. “I could see you were okay, and I didn’t know you were so sensitive! Gosh, to think I was going to ask you to the Rodeo Dance!”
That stops you in your tracks.
“Yep,” she says, “But I don’t think I will, now that I know what a temper you have. I think I’ll ask Luke instead.”
