It sounds like this is turning into an out-of-control sibling rivalry. Jody feels like she's being treated unfairly, but the truth is that Jason has extra freedoms because he's older and more mature. As for the Rollerblades, Jody's birthday is in the winter, and her mom got her a new snowboard, which was just as cool a gift. Jody is insecure about her mom's love, and she's jealous of Jason. By making trouble, Jody's trying to force Mom to spend more time with her, and get her more of the stuff she wants.

Jody needs to realize that her mom is being as fair as she can. When she's Jason's age, she'll get to watch PG-13 movies too. If Jody really feels that her mother is neglecting her, she should calmly discuss it with her. Jody also needs to understand that bad behavior is not a good way to get attention, and that Jody and Jason getting different gifts doesn't mean that Mom loves them different amounts.
