Depression: What's the Problem?

ANSWER:

Girl crying It sounds like Mayda got sad because she had a crummy day, and this is not a case of clinical depression. She cried because of specific bad things that happened to her, and although she still feels sad inside, she understands that the sadness will fade. Unlike people who suffer from clinical depression, Mayda is able to get past the pain and concentrate on the things that make life worth living, like orchestra practice. If Mayda were clinically depressed, she might not have gotten excited about orchestra, and might not have understood that there is a light at the end of the tunnel of sadness.
