GPS: California Science Center

location, location, location
The California Science Center is located near downtown Los Angeles, in a neighborhood called Exposition Park.

what’s to see and do?
The California Science Center is all about hands-on science. It features both permanent exhibits and a rotating roster of intriguing traveling exhibits. Permanent exhibits include: Creative World, where you can explore the wonders of human innovation; World of Life, where you learn that all things-even single cell bacterium-perform the same life processes; and the SKETCH Foundation Gallery, where you can view real space capsules and discover how scientific principles affect the design of these objects. Traveling exhibits could have you investigating everything from the science, math, and psychology used in magic illusions to the mysteries of the human body-depending on when you go, of course! Movies at the IMAX Theater make you feel as though you're part of the action, thanks to a giant screen that's 7-stories high. And don't forget to stop by the Science Court, where kids can ride a bicycle across a one-inch cable, a mere 43 feet above the ground. Yikes!

just for kids
Each summer the California Science Center hosts Hands-On Science Camp for kids up to grade 12. Campers can choose from over 25 classes such as 3, 2, 1, Blast Off!, Fantastic Physics, and Skate Science. The Science Center also hosts sleepovers in the exhibits with fun activities and an IMAX film.

visit from home
You can visit the California Science Center without going to sunny Los Angeles by logging on to www.californiasciencecenter.org. Only problem is, if you visit on your computer, you won\'t get to pedal the high-wire bicycle!
