All about me!
Focus: Self-esteem and diversity
Children can bring in their pictures from home or draw pictures of themselves and paste them on this page. They can look at each other's pictures and talk about all the ways they are the same and different.
  I am _ inches tall!
Focus: Measurement and relative size
Set up a measuring tape on the wall to help kids find their exact height. What other objects and animals—besides those in the picture—are bigger or smaller than your students?
Here I am with my family!
Focus: Understanding sameness/difference
Children can draw their families or bring in pictures from home. Use this page to encourage discussion about what makes each family special.
  Here's my pet!
Focus: Caring for others
Discussion can focus on the fun and responsibility involved in caring for a pet. You can also have fun discussing what real or make-believe animals would make good or not-so-good pets and why.
  Here are our hands!
Focus: Recognizing the value of friendship and sameness/difference
Friends can share the same paper to trace their hands, and discuss all the things they like (food, books, etc.) and like to do (games, activities, etc.). Then they can compare their lists with others in the class.
  Here's what's in my classroom!
Focus: Counting observation
After children have fun counting what's in the classroom, brainstorm together about all of the other things they can count in school and at home, including swings in the playground, seeds in an apple, buttons on their shirts, etc.
  Here's my story!
Focus: Emerging literacy
Children can draw pictures or dictate a story to the teacher or another adult. You may want to use this page to encourage children to write or draw many other stories as they think of their favorite things.
